nah, was wondering what EXACTLY happens biggrin.gif
Is the original recovery not in the recovery partition when launched? which allows the recovery partition to be overwritten while being used? or the recovery is only replaced while rebooting...
*
Since it's Linux based, very likely the same process that happens when there is a linux kernel update. The current program remains in RAM, overwrites the one on the storage, reboot, then the new image is loaded.

See, in linux booting, there are img files too, so I suppose the process is the same.

I'm using Youth Club now, should I keep it for Note 2? Or change..
*
Aspire's using this as well. You can ask him if it's worth changing. I'm too old for that plan LOLz, and it's no longer available either.

If you can afford it then just buy it outright and keep your plan.

Do you mean that the controls do not let you change the loudness while in the FM radio app, or you can't use the FM radio at all, or both?

Depends how will Sony market this. Apart from some Apple ads, the occasional Nokia ad long time ago, nobody else advertises phones on TV except Samsung.

Print ads are still used by everyone, but I rarely read deadtree stuff nowadays, what more with the FB generation ?

For those with sharp eyes, please try a blind test to see whether you can detect anything beyond 330 dpi.

Blind test ie: cover the entire phone and just show maybe a 2" x 2" area of the screen for different phone brands. Then display the same image/text on this 2"x2" area. Try to spot any differences.

Those sites that have reviewed this have also provided magnified screenshots of the dots and the overall sharpness/fuzziness of the display. I personally don't see any major difference beyond 300dpi. Even the slightly lower rez of Note2 is plenty fine.

yeah.. 4.1.2 drains more battery in standby compared to 4.1.1.
Kinda forcing me to go custom ROM now..  shakehead.gif

QUOTE(Superman7 @ Jan 14 2013, 09:02 AM)
There are 2 things I hate to do without if I'm to flash to custom ROM.
So guys, which ROM will not break kies sync (wired) and AllShare ? Need the Kies sync due to work - need to sync my calendars
*
Bro, this will likely break your Allshare cast. You can try though and report whether it breaks Allshare or not.
For sync of contacts/calendars/notes/sms/calls - use MyPhoneExplorer, really the best sync app (need it on the phone and windows) and its free as well.

QUOTE(Superman7 @ Jan 14 2013, 09:08 AM)
how about sync only?
Any custom ROM still works?

Based on my previous experience with GNote 1, custom ROM doesn't sync anymore with Kies.
*
Use MyPhoneExplorer and dump the POS Kies.

Wow, chips from 1 day's production are making such a big impact.

So if it's buggy, write <somecommandswithvalues> and voila, SDS bug bypassed, it would seem. The chip should still be buggy since it's cast silicon, but the condition will no longer be invoked.

Thanks, nice info.

We can all buy him large quantities of teh tarik or whatever favourite beverage he wants so that he can provide a tutorial class for Note 2 photography.

Dr.Ketan's post #4, point 8 shows the updated bootloader with the exynos fix. So looks like you can remain on any version of stock and just reflash the bootloader to close the hole?

It simply says flash the PDA with PC Odin.

Samsung is no longer using the Mali 6xx family in 8-core Exynos. I wonder why.

anyways, i am not very familiar with this rooted thing. only know if your phone is rooted, you cannot update your firmware and your warranty is void. fortunately, you can unroot it. but you will need to do some reading. wink.gif

hope the other more experienced user can help you here
