This one has red. Also 2 year warranty.
Lenovo
Z480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm) W8, colors: grey/red/blue

Or if you look past Asus / Lenovo, maybe this Sony pink smile.gif
Vaio SVE14126CV, i5-3210M + AMD HD7550M@RM2299[2.4kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8; colors: black/pink/white;Vaio backpack

Thanks for the reply. smile.gif

I did consider G480/G580 but they are last year design and look less pretty or should I dare, uglier than the Z500/Z400. the Red doesn't help here. sad.gif

The Sony is very pretty but its probably design for teen girl, would prefer elegant red than soft pink. also the HD7550M is only slightly better than GT610m.

The lady just told me she would prefer 15", after considering all factors, the Z500 look to be unbeatable for the price. the Dell is out as 15R/SE has no number pad(not good for accounting) and 15 only have ULV processor. Asus is still in cause Asus is more easily found in Muar local shop, namely the A55VD with red. heard that Asus service is not great in Malaysia? how about Lenovo?

Thanks in advance for any input. smile.gif

Looking for a laptop for gaming. Budget is 2k give or take.

The Dell 14r SE seems to have a lot of issues (BSOD,WiFi and so in)

Any other recommendations?

Errr Z480 not G480???

Since it is only for videos and accounting, the lady don't really need powerful GPU smile.gif So if she really like the A55VD red, it could handle her usage requirement smile.gif But the kids 3D games? Mind to share what gaming titles they play?

Yup, Asus Malaysia has iffy warranty support service. Lenovo Malaysia is more consistent in terms of warranty support, and if you are willing to pay, you could upgrade to 3 years on site warranty from Lenovo.

If the lady fancy white, can consider this:
Ideapad Z580, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W7HB, white
Ideapad Z580, i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), freeDOS, white

If you are looking for 15" Dell Inspiron with the best GPU, this one:
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + AMD HD7730M@RM2199, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional, W7HP/W8

Good specification and the price also very good, but the weight 2.76kg heavy lor.

My mistake, I meant Z480/Z580. The Z500 really does looks nicer:

She has 3 boys age between 10 and 14. they play many types of games, I would guess GT610M wouldn't be enough for them to play current games smoothly.

i7 would probably be overkill for them and buying retails/OEM Windows would probably exceed her budget. I don't if she would like the dated Z480/Z580 design especially when Z500 offer more for less.

Guess I would recommend her the Z500 consider the warranty, price and features. Thanks a lots for your inputs, they are very helpful. smile.gif

15" normally is heavy sweat.gif
Unless you are going for FHD screen, otherwise I don't see any compelling reason to go for Dell 15" tongue.gif (keyboard no numpad, more heavy than 14", HD resolution look pretty much the same in 15" as in 14" ... )

This 14" is slightly lighter at 2.4kg, and has the same raw power as the 15R SE that was mentioned:
Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2049[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W7HP/W8

Glad to help smile.gif
Yes, if the lady could spare ~ RM250 to upgrade warranty to 3 year on site from Lenovo at the point of purchase (have to specifically ask for it, some resellers don't even know Lenovo has this type of warranty in Malaysia tongue.gif ), this should give her peace of mind with 3 boys banging on her laptop sweat.gif

The touch feature is nice, but 15" screen is heavy and the hinge may not stand up to repeated poke poke in the long run smile.gif Better advise the lady to limit her sons poking at the screen tongue.gif Otherwise the Z500 is a nice piece of machine for the price.

Are you in a hurry to get this? smile.gif Otherwise, you should go out and touch and feel the real things to get a better feel on which one you like best rclxms.gif

Spec wise, all models are more or less the same, i5 ULV, HD 4000, SSD. And all of them have good build qualities.
So it's a matter of which screen is more conducive for user touch input (which is a personal preference. And I suggest you spend minimum 15 minutes with each model, just touching the screen smile.gif )

If it is for business and you can't afford down time, then Dell Malaysia warranty support is best (upgrade to 3 year on site and you are set).

I wont blame u one la if no good lol, if u are me which one will u choose? hahahahah sorry ah i kept pressing.

Quality? I don't care laugh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif Actually all brands have lemon unit. The best 3 year laptop failure rate is > 15% (ie 3 in 20 laptops from the best quality brand will have at least 1 hardware failure within 3 years).
Service? Dell win hand down. Just extend to 3 years on site warranty (Price is negotiable). No matter what BSOD, overheating, other handware problems; 1 phone call, Dell technician at your door NBD tongue.gif

Down time as in laptop stay weeks or months inside SC for repair? laugh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Sorry to hear about your situation in Ipoh. But are you planning to make a RM3-4k purchase without looking at the real thing ever? sweat.gif
Why don't you drop by to KL (LYP for example) for a few hours and just feel the models out before you commit? tongue.gif

Ok, if you really have to buy blind, go with Dell. (If thing really turn bad, you can activate RMA and get money back)
The XPS 12 has a 12.5" screen. You can flip it to turn it into a tablet (don't worry, the hinge is quite solid). No Optical drive, no VGA port, no Ethernet port (there are USB dongle for these port if you want to buy).
You can order online through Dell Online Malaysia. Can pay using credit card. Dell will deliver to your door step. If budget allow, extend warranty to 3 years.
Also, please online chat with Dell sales agent, and haggle for discount. Aim for 10% off list price at least smile.gif
Dell Malaysia give you onsite warranty. If there is any hardware problem, give Dell a call, and they will send technician to your house to fix it next biz day.
