Hi guys looking for a laptop for every day use and playing League of Legends. Screen size 14" or 15"

Brand? Any that doesn't fail in build quality and lifespan.

My budget is rm2000 with at least 4GB of RAM.
*
All brands have lemon smile.gif

Get this Dell:
Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2049[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W7HP/W8

Extend warranty to 3 years. Negotiate. Within your budget.
Any hardware failure, call Dell. Technician at your door to fix it smile.gif

oh ok.. thanks for ur opinion..

1. Preferred Brand = ASUS / other brand except lenovo
2. Budget = around 3k
3. Usage = medium gaming, browsing,
4. Preferred laptop/screen size = 14 or 15.6

specification - browsing, graphic n video editing, medium gaming, longer battery life, good speaker, ssd if possible

thank you..
*
Buddy, what is medium gaming? smile.gif Give us some game titles please smile.gif
Graphic and video editing could use some CPU power (i7 is nice). But then i7 drain battery smile.gif
All laptop speakers are not good laugh.gif Get a pair of cheap RM100 desktop speakers for better sound.
If you want to upgrade HDD to SSD, SSD 128G ~ RM300+/-, 256G ~ RM600+/-.
Since you want better battery performance, some 14" ultrabook for you smile.gif

Asus
K46CM-WX090H, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M@RM2199[2kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8, OD

HP
Envy4-1204TX, i5-3317U + AMD HD8750M@RM2399[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8 (reasonable speakers among laptop)

Prices are RSP, negotiable.
Use your remaining budget to increase RAM (Asus, 4G stick ~ RM80), swap out the HDD for SSD, extend warranty to 3 years (HP).

for all the sifu here, need your help once again...

1. Preferred Brand - Anything, or dell for its support.
2. Budget - RM3k
3. Usage - photoshop and casual gaming (medium or low setting for diablo 3, starcraft 2 is fine), i travel alot.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 13/14

i prefer something light, portable and easy to carry. ScreenSize doesn't matter to be small.
*
Unfortunately, Dell don't have any ultrabook within your budget that could do some gaming tongue.gif Closest:
Dell
Inspiron 14z, i5-3337U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2549[1.87kg], 4GB, W8 *no VGA port, OD (GPU slightly underpower, need to game in low detail)
XPS 14, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT630M + 32GB mSATA+ 500GB(5400rpm) HDD + (1600x900)@RM3849[2.1kg], 4GB, backlit, spill resistant keyboard, W8 (over your budget)

Consider this:
HP
Envy4-1204TX, i5-3317U + AMD HD8750M@RM2399[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8

The HD8750M is among the most powerful GPU you will find in ultrabook. HP warranty service is also pretty good smile.gif Extend warranty to 3 years.

Prices are RSP, negotiable.

To all LYN Sifus, currently 18 a student in A.P.U, first time buying laptop, need recomendation.

Course : Software Engineering Diploma Year 1

Your intended usages: slightly low end games will do, Minimum Dota2. Might involve in visual basic or simple coding next year.

Preferred brands: I don't know any about Laptop. Ask me desktop sap sap shui ~ First time buying laptop

Budget: Around 2.5k
*
Laptop are expensive sweat.gif The RM2.5k may not buy half the power you enjoy in desktop laugh.gif
Dota2 is not GPU demanding. Anything i5 M should handle your software engineering needs pretty well.

Do you need to carry it around? What is the weight that you can handle?
What is important to you? Nice design? Nice spec? Good warranty support?

thanks again bro!
i was considering XPS13, is that any good compare to XPS14? and i read some acticles that HD4000 can really handle most of my gaming needs.
*
As an ultrabook, XPS13 is top notch smile.gif Also a lot lighter than XPS14 (but the HD+ screen in XPS14 is real nice)
XPS13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399[1.36kg], 4GB, W8, backlit

HD4000 improve leaps and bounds from HD3000. But to play diablo3 and starcraft2, you really have to set it to low setting.

The HD4600 (tentatively named) in Haswell (Haswell CPU may carry differet GPU, unlike Ivy bridge which all have HD4000) is showing GT620/630M level of performance (you can search for the leak in Anandtech), but you have to wait until end of 2013 to get this laugh.gif

Brand: Any
Usage: low/medium gaming like the new SimCity that is coming out soon.
Screen: no bigger than 15"
RAM: I have two ddr3 4gb ram lying around, so minimum as I have the upgrade already

Budget is under 1.2k as I need to buy Windows 8

QUOTE(quadbond @ Feb 19 2013, 08:33 AM)
go for Lenovo G480.
*
https://help.ea.com/article/simcity-system-requirements
Look at the system requirement on SimCity 2013.
On PC:
"nVidia 7800 or better, an AMD chipset of at least an ATI Radeon HD 2x00 or better, or an Intel Series 4 integrated graphics or better"
Confused? Don't worry. If you pay attention and look at MacOS section, you will see:
"Players will need at least an nVidia 9400M or Intel HD3000"

So anything with Intel HD4000 will handle SimCity 2013 easily smile.gif

Dell
Inspiron 14-3421, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000@RM1399[1.99kg], Win8SL, 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 4-cell (come with W8)

Lenovo
G480, i3-3110M + Nvidia GT635M@RM1499, 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS (a bit of overkill laugh.gif Need to get W8 yourself)

Prices are RSP, negotiable (a bit).
Please note the suggestion is based on system requirement provided by EA sweat.gif Btw, if you know anyone who has a laptop with Intel HD4000 IGPU only, download the demo and try the game out, ok? smile.gif

Dota2 or COD is not GPU demanding. Full SSD is expensive now (128G ~ RM300+/-)
Ultrabook to play games generally is not a good idea smile.gif Make sure you get good external cooling (applicable to all laptop actually) like table fan, cooling pad ...

Thanks for the promptly reply.

Weight and portability not important for me, cause I will fully shut down PC only take away, if not if u take around with HDD running will definitely die fast
Weight of a CPU Mid Tower also dun mind (ofcourse not those with heavy CPU Coolers)   sweat.gif
Nice design is optional. Spec? If possible audiophile and have good storage and have little space of SSD for OS ?
Warranty its okay. No need those very friendly warranty. As I might buy from friend's pc shop, anything can direct back to him.

Additional question
Do u think 2.5k can get touch screen? And pen input?  wink.gif
I guess can't.
And hopefully laptop can assemble and change ram and HDD ? Or Upgrade ? Cause these 2 things easily die normally.
Oh yeah, from my needs, software engineering, visual basic those. The Microsoft Surface Pro can fit? I kinda like the pen input, so i can scribble notes around in class  laugh.gif
*
So you are young and can carry heavy weight huh? smile.gif
Laptop speakers are generally not good. Cheap RM100 desktop speakers have better sound laugh.gif
You should know the price of full SSD (128G ~ RM300+/-). Those mSATA (24G/32G) SSD in some of the laptop is factory set for caching, you can't save or install anything on it (won't see it in file explorer) unless you wade into BIOS to change setting.
Even if you buy from your friend's shop, if there were hardware failure, your friend still need to send to SC. Some SC take weeks / months to fix laptop. Consider yourself warned laugh.gif Laptop is unlike desktop, you can't just take out a faulty component but have to send the whole unit to SC.

Asus
A45VS-VX026H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT645M@RM2199[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8
N56VZ-S3151H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799[2.7kg][B&O], 4GB, 750GB, W8; color: black

Dell
Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2049[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W7HP/W8

HP
Envy4-1204TX, i5-3317U + AMD HD8750M@RM2399[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8

Lenovo
Z480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm) W8, colors: grey/red/blue
Y400, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799, 4GB, 500GB, W8, 120wPSU, swappable ODD
Z500, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT645M @RM2299, 4GB, 1TB, W8; backlit, 2 years warranty (4-cell)

Prices are RSP, negotiable.
For most of the models, you can swap in a full SSD that it's still within your budget smile.gif
Laptop of 14" and above usually has standard RAM slots for user to upgrade RAM. The HDD bay also is usually accessable for user to swap HDD or SSD.
13" or smaller, depend on model. Some model has fused RAM and no RAM slot. And due to slimness, the HDD / SSD normally is of < 7mm thick.
Again, laptop components are a lot more fragile than desktop counterpart. Lots of things can die on you laugh.gif

For RM2.5k, you can get touch screen.
Acer
M5-481PTG-53316G52, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT640M + 20GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM2999, 10-point touch, W8
Lenovo

Z500 touch, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT645M + (1366x768; touch)@RM2699, 4GB, 1TB, W8; backlit, 2 years warranty

If you expect stylus input, and still want to play game, NO smile.gif

Built in GPU like HD 4000 in Intel CPU is good enough to process FHD movies smile.gif You don't need discrete GPU (Nvidia or AMD) for that.
MS Office? There is 2010, or the recently launched 2013 or 365 smile.gif (no 2011) This is not included in the laptop (some laptop come pre-installed with trial version, if you could get softwore key, then you can unlock the full version whistling.gif ). Prepare to shell out RM200-600 (depends on version).

If you only use Words (and don't want to spend the money or go Jack Sparrow), consider alternative like LibreOffice. Also has a good spreadsheet, but formula is different from Excel tongue.gif

The XPS 13 is 13" in size whereas the 6430u is 14" in size.
Dell has disallowed regular users to easily obtain the prices for business units, so we do not have the most updated pricings, sorry about that.
But based on what we originally (and last) have, the E6430u is not cheap at all, which is pretty normal for a business-line notebooks laugh.gif

But since the XPS 13 is an awesome (and not to mentioned good looking) premium-line ultrabook, you can consider getting one over the Latitude as well, with enough money to extend warranty to 3 years, making it comparable to the E6430u which also comes wtih 3 years warranty as standard.
For the XPS13, the i5 + FUllHD variant would be more than enough, don't really need an i7 as it will get quite warm, regardless of which ultrabook you buy  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
XPS13 is top notch thumbup.gif
But Latitude 6430u has a few tricks up its sleeve:
Matte screen. LAN, VGA, HDMI port if you ever need it laugh.gif Can expand RAM more easily. Can opt for HD+ screen.

Get a nice piece of headphone from your remaining budget.
Also use your remaining budget to increase RAM (Asus), extend warranty (Dell, 3 years).

Do you know any sellers who are offering that price?  icon_question.gif

Those are Recommended Selling Price from brands. You can get much better price from re-sellers laugh.gif (still can negotiate a bit, but for low margin product, don't expect too much).
If you buy the Dell from Dell Online, negotiate by online chat (use the chat button).
