looking for FHD laptop with price below 3k (any model other than y580/y480??)

thanks
*
Y480 don't have FHD biggrin.gif

Dell
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional, W7HP/W8
Vostro 3560, i7-3632QM + AMD HD7670M + 32GB SSD + 750GB(7200rpm) HDD + (1920x1080)@RM3209[2.57kg], 8GB, W7HB; colors: red/silver/bronze

Negotiate, can get them below RM3k.
And that's all you can find in Malaysia laugh.gif

Good evening  notworthy.gif

Looking to buy a new laptop

1. Any
2. Budget: Around RM2500 (lesser is better)
3. Usage: gaming(msotly for GW2 tongue.gif)/work
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: Any, doesn't matter
*
QUOTE(raxan @ Jan 9 2013, 10:14 PM)

also are there any other recommendations ? biggrin.gif
*
The Y480 is best bang for your buck if you can find it smile.gif
Otherwise, these:

Asus
A45VS-VX026H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT645M@RM2199[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8

Dell
Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2049[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W7HP/W8

Lenovo
Z480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm) W7HB, colors: grey/red/blue
Y400, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799, 4GB, 500GB, W8, 120wPSU, swappable ODD

GW2 is quite GPU demanding. At 1366x768 (HD) resolution, you have to turn down the details to make it playable with GT640M.

Preferred = high battery life(no need bring charger) , touchscreen able to transform to tablet, as light as possible , detachable screen
Brand = any
Budget = below 4k
Usage = surf the net and lite gaming (2D indie games ), programming homework
Preferred laptop/screen size = below 13" (as light as possible)

so far i am eyeing on Lenovo Yoga 13(non detachable screen) seem like i dont have much alternative ATIV pro is always out of stock and i dislike the plastic like feel from Samsung....

Everyone please if you know where can I find Asus zenbook touch screen in Malaysia.I was looking for it around 3months but nobody knows.Asus showed this model in their events as a display model, but I couldn't find it anywhere. So please if anyone have any news on this specific model just let me know. They sell the core i5 model on bestbuy in USA.but they don't have any shipping method outside the country.I just heard that they also sell this in Singapore but I couldn't find any online dealers from Singapore.

Pretty late in the game changing game plan laugh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
Unless you are seriously strong, 17" will break your back sooner or later, carrying it to and fro school daily biggrin.gif
M17 and RS17 weight more than 4kg sweat.gif
Also, unless you can plug into electric supply at school, all these gaming laptops won't give you long battery performance. But at least 14/15" last slightly longer than 17" laugh.gif

You said it, so far the only model that fully satisfy your requirement is:
ATIV Smart Pro, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1920x1080; touch)@RM3599[884g w/o keyboard], 4GB, stylus, W8; color: black

Plastic is good for wireless reception laugh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

If you are not in a hurry, see if Lenovo Malaysia bring in Helix, or Microsoft Surface Pro whistling.gif

Practically all Ivy bridge CPU support Intel VT.
What you need is Intel Chipset that support Intel v-Pro (sifus please correct me if I am wrong tongue.gif), that mean you need to find laptop with QM77/67 chipset (Most consumer laptop has HM77/6 chipset).

QM77/67 is normally (but not necessary always, some come pre-configure with HM77) found in business laptop like Dell Latitude/Precision, HP Elitebook, Lenovo Thinkpad.

Dell
Latitude E5430, i5-3320M + Intel HD4000@RM3200, 4GB, 320GB(5400rpm), W7P (32-bit)/W8 Pro, 3 years pro support; [CPU Options: i5-3320M - i7-3520M], HD+ screen upgradable
Latitude E6430, i5-3320M + Intel HD4000@RM4300, backlit keyboard, 3 Years, W7P (32-bit); [CPU options: i5-3320M-i7-3720QM][GPU option: Nvidia NVS 5200M], HD+ screen upgradable
Latitude E6430u, i5-3427U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM4500, 4GB, W8Pro, 3 years Pro support; [CPU options: i5-3427U - i7-3667U] (this is ultrabook)

Spec configurable. Price negotiable, but most likely will exceed your budget once you put in everything you want.

Good to hear. That mean HM77 also support VT rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

What do mean by problem?
You install OS in the HDD (factory default setting), not the mSATA SSD (for caching, factory default setting. You can find this in BIOS).
If you change the BIOS setting, you can install OS in the mSATA SSD (but lost the caching capability). The SSD is so small ....
