QUOTE(inv @ May 9 2013, 08:57 PM) Bro Inv,Cant do ler. My reasons follows: 1. The balance of the rod(weight) 2. The parabolic of the rod(curve) 3. Handle shaping(distance of reel seat vs EVA handles) Balance of the rod In the balancing of the rod, these are the criteria 1. Guide weight 2. Placement of the guides(which is also depending on the height of the guides, if the heights are higher, may cause closer guides and undistributed weight) 3. Due to point 2 above and in order to balance the rod, the reel seat position and eva position does help in balancing the rod. The parabolic(curve) To guide the proper line flowing out without causing much resistance(in this case we are doing spiral wrap for BC and long legged guides for spinning) 1. The guide leg height is crucial to determine a more correct line flowing 2. On the other hand, it ties in to the balance of the rod as per above The handle shaping 1. Mainly encompass of the above 2 major point where distance and weight of these parts will effect the performance of the rod Hope this explains Last but not least, is the delivery fees to be charged twice just for a couple of pcs of guides. |

Bro Acheong,
The spine already located for each piece. A sample guide position for BC and spinning also done. Now pending is the guides to arrive to determine the points i mentioned earlier. Since EVA and reel seat does play a role in balancing the rod, totally agreed to your point. NO TURNING BACK POINT... LOL |

Personal feedback of the hornet stinger rod.
Received alot of comment similar about the rod too. You see, when you have a rod with wide range of poundage, naturally you'll feel the tip is weaker cos we usually hold at the reel seat where the back bone is. When we feel the back bone is stronger, it doesn't mean the whole rod will bend parabolically. In order to have 8-20 or 8-25lb rod, the rolling machine to produce the rod blank with graphite paper and epoxy, will put more pressure on the tip of the rod initially and then roll more graphite paper towards the butt of the rod blank. This causes a heavy back bone and softer tip. Another angle to look at it, is the factor of under or over rated from the precision machine vs boleh pakai machine. If its 2 pcs or travel rod, the parabolic of the rod cannot be maintained due to the ferrule/joint part that has to take the highest poundage of the rod. This also limits the rod curves to be parabolic hence the tip is soft for the 1/3 of the 1st joint and the rest poundage hops to higher rating. Eg: 2pc rod - tip at 8lb for 1/3 of the 1st piece and 2/3 to be at 16lb liao. From here, anglers will connect to the 2nd piece joint towards the handle at 20lb. Anything after the handle is usually higher poundage for firmer grip. Eg2: 4pc travel rod - slim and curvy 1st piece of 6-8lb, 2nd piece at 16lb, 3rd piece at 20lb and last piece at 20+ pound. A good example is the new Berkley Amp 4pc travel rod 8lb- 20lb. Bro Chun and Bro Daddy can testify to this finding. My advice for using large range of poundage across the rod will be simple - one piece rod! This case, you can get the actual parabolic and limiting the factor of busting the rod. Another reason for us to get specific game rod and expanding our rod wardrobe. LOL |

Looked like rust bro..
The larger bearing is either at pinion gear or the cranking gear side... where as the smaller bearing possible is the line roller... Wild guess nia. Next time try to get SS bearings, stainless steel, at least could minimise the damage Hint: Bearing=oil, gears and moving parts = grease |

some reels are not designed for sea fishing..
Esp spinning reel's category. Due to the extreme exerted power from sea fishes, some of the T bar(where the reel seats) are reinforced. Some of the spinning reels are heavy drags too... For baitcasting pulak, it's the frame and the spool material.. |

Hey all,
Apologies for not checking in regularly. Was engaged with a few projects on the plate and was badly ill last 2 weeks ago. Good news! The items for the rod building have arrived today but kena tax of rm150. Damn! Even speaking to the in charge of Kastam for being a rod building parts with zero tax, he insist to charge a 10% All documentations are open to all the anglers who ordered the rod - for verification purposes. Refer picture of joy! |
