Street, concur with bro viox. saltwater tackle they be most baitcasters (BC rods) have a trigger at the reel seat and their guides are lined up on the opposite site http://www.i-tackle.net/product/417/1259/b...ting%20rod.html spinning rods don't have that trigger http://www.landbigfish.com/Daiwa/Daiwa-Steez-Casting-Rod.cfm the longer rods ... are some thinner than the tiger? are they two piece rods? if they are, you might wanna try those ... hmmm, they might be surf rods ... pix and details would be helpful good to know 1dollar bro ... you'll cross that bridge when you come to it wow, quite a number of new daddies ... congratzzzz This post has been edited by acheong7: Mar 11 2013, 10:11 AM

Street, confirm your cuz's tackle is for salt use. 15-40lb is more suited for seafishing 4m ... sure sounds like surf rod hang on to a set or two ... lol ... in case you get to go to sea 5' 6" to 6' 6" is what you should be looking for 8-17lb or there about BC rod http://tackletour.com/reviewfenwickhmg.html spinning rod http://tackletour.com/reviewstcroixles76mlxf.html

great news, rory, thank you.
fishfinders, depth sounders, etc best invest in the slightly higher end if one is fishing often enough including out at sea metal transducers serve better get those with dual frequency, more versatile, more detail monochrome is ok but colour has more differentiation you'll also pay for features such as GPS, waypoint markers, weather proof, antiglare screen, mapping your own water routes etc

either way is fine, ie i don't mind paying for the hook keeper but rory has extra work on hand
i don't mind not having the hook keeper as i'll either hook onto guide foot or affix a fuji hook keeper
go with the majority on this

aye .. used to do the latter, ie mainline>swivel>leader>hook or snap+hook (very rare)
got fed up of the swivel hitting the tip guide
learnt the FG ... no looking back, now it's mainline>knot>leader>hook or snap+lure
length is similar to dollar bro's half a hand to shoulder length or one and a half ...
used 20lb braid in the beginning switched to 15lb leader usually 40lb FC or 12-14lb FC UL i use 5lb braid pioneer FC stiffer than yozuri hybrid FC of the same poundage
