I don’t like ac86u standing design. Prefer ac88u lay flat design. Ac5300 also I like but I don’t think need extra 5ghz network. Guess I will get ac88u when my unifi is turboed haha.

I already updated all the firmware to the latest firmware via asus router app before posted this issue.
Yes, there' some blockages. 1 floor distance between both 8TX node (ground floor & 1st Floor).

Here's my testing result:
RTX-A3000 (main router), (both ZenWiFi XT8 as nodes)
Location: RTX-A3000, XT8 node 1 - 1st floor,  XT8 node 2 - Ground floor
Tested Device: Xiaomi Mi 9 (wifi 2x2 mimo)
Result: 100mbps+-

ZenWiFi XT8 (as main router), (another one as node)
Location: XT8 router - 1st floor,  XT8 node 2 - Ground floor
Tested device : xiaomi mi9 (wifi 2x2 mimo)
Result: 200~250mbps (WiFi backhaul is functioning?)
*
That's why me still holding back to get XT8 as mine will be like your scenario one @ ground floor and another @ 1st floor, I am worried the signal is block thus speed of wifi @ 1st floor won't improve much comparing my current setup using power line adaptor where I can get close to 200mbps wifi speed on 1st floor.

Ya same here, still considering whether should I get XT8 or CT8 or twin pack AC86U for my double storey home setup or not, scare invest so much and yet the wifi mesh can't solved the coverage issue
*
Asus should do some try before buy campaign biggrin.gif

If I’m convinced the speed has improvement from my current power line setup for sure I will buy.

Oh good, thanks for the info.

Me planning to use this at ground floor near my Unifi modem. From the AX88U router, tarik a LAN cable to my room upstairs and connect to Apple Airport Extreme upstairs (in bridge mode). I think with this is the speed and signal will be much better comparing if i get Zenwifi CX8.

For rt-ax86u it’s a gaming router for mobile gaming, does it improve ps4 gaming? I am looking for an Asus wireless Ax router to improve ps4 gaming, 4 lan ports will be sufficient for me. What are the recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I wanted to see if the Internet was disconnected but can't find a way to do so. I am using AX11000.

My ax11000 is on 9.0.0.4.386_41994-g769f84f, when check for firmware upgrade it states having the latest.

When check on Asus website the latest is 3.0.0.4.386.43129 released on 21st may 2021. Why the router cannot detect the latest firmware is available?

Just download and install it manually.

Sometime the auto update feature is slower than the website as it is phased release.

Done just installed. Thanks.

Main router downstair is ax11000 and mesh node upstair is xt8.

At downstair iPad connected to ax11000 with strong signal. When going upstair the iPad auto connect to xt8. Backhaul signal is good too at Phy rate 860Mbps transmit and 1020Mbps receive.

Issue now is when I bring iPad down to downstair it is still sticking xt8 node upstairs. How do I fix this ? Disable and enable wifi on iPad still the same.

XT8 is the mesh node at upstairs where 5GHZ wifi is on channel 40, the 5GHZ wifi is configured by me on channel 56 for main unit downstairs.

Where can i manually configure wifi channel for XT8 mesh node?

Hi neekun,

The node will follow the channel set on the main router, unable to change the node channel manually.

Thank you

In my case i changed channel on main router but node does not follow. Already reboot both node and main router a few times.

Athena @ 64 is my main router, Athena @ 40 is node. I want the node to use 64 too follow main router.

Hi neekun,

May I know what region have you set for the main router? Is this is local unit?

And can you provide the firmware version for all the router?

Thank you
*
Main AX11000 on 3.0.0.4.386_44266-g7f6b0df. Node XT8 on 3.0.0.4.386_43181-g6099e58

Both local units bought from Ookas (local seller). AX1100 region was set to US. Does this affect? I noticed other nearby Wifi signal also US region.

Hi neekun,

After checked, this is because the 5GH-1 for XT8 only support channel 36, 40, 44 & 48.

Thank you
*
So is it ok fr my current setup where both 5GHZ-1 of main router and nodes on different channel?

Hi neekun,

Yes, as long as your device don't have trouble connecting to the WiFi.

Thank you
*
Thanks!!

I got a big improvement in wifi speed after using XT8 as node on upstairs. Previously SpeedTest on upstair is maxed at 200Mbps only now it reaches 566Mbps and sometimes exceeding 630Mbps:

Is it you are still connected to 2nd folder even though you are physically at 1st floor? Try check at AIMESH page and see where you are connected to.

Forgot to mention that the connection between the nodes are in wireless backhaul, so probably that has affected it?
I see, i dont have ethernet cable built into the walls, aiseh, have to live with wireless backhaul then
*
What is the connection quality of your wireless backhaul?
