I have absolutely no problems with IPv6 support in my RT-N12 D1, but my firmware 3.0.0.4.374.5517 is one version before the latest.

My MTU by default is 1492.

The MTU can be set in the 'Account Setting' section under the 'WAN' tab.

What exactly is your problem with IPv6 MTU defaulting to 1492?

It's discussed over here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2978208

Many of us are using MTU of 1420 and below. Some devices don't play along well if the MTU is too high for IPv6.

I agree the default works but it does have problems for some devices, so if we can change the MTU for IPv4, why not allow user to change the MTU for IPv6 as well?

Saw there is a beta firmware 3.0.0.4.378.6117 for RT-N12 D1 on the website, in the instructions it is recommended to do a reset after flashing this. However, will I be able to restore my settings from a backup file after that?

Quick question, if a service/port is not specified under the User-defined QoS rules, what is the default priority for these?

Hi guys. Just got the dsl-n55u but when trying to setup unifi, it doesn't have the special box that was shown in the video. All I have is streamyx jarring and maxis. No selection for unifi. How do I solve this case?

i was told that it supports unifi.. thats why i purchased it  mad.gif

With the price you pay for DSL-N55U, you can get the pretty decent RT-N18U which will be compatible with UniFi.

Hi OKLY,

May I know what LAN device that are currently connected to your router? It seen like the router are unable to process the request sent by the device.

Thank you

Hi coolguy,

1. 3.0.0.4.378.6065 is it for japan only or for every country?
If the firmware got written for a specific country such as [For Japan Only], it is recommended you don't update it as it might be related to the security or policy for specific country or region.

2. how to setup ipv6 for unifi on asus router?
As for IPv6 you can follow the image below to do the setup.

Thank you
*
Speaking of IPv6, the default MTU for IPv6 is 1492 and there is no way to change it from the admin control panel. The only way is by logging in via Telnet and entering the below:

CODE
echo 1420 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/br0/mtu

The above code will change the MTU for IPv6 to 1420. Can this be feedback to the team to possibly allow MTU configuration for IPv6 in the control panel or at least the default MTU for IPv6 be lower like around 1420?

Reason is that for IPv6, MTU of 1492 is just too high and will cause many weird issues especially with users complaining that after enabling IPv6, their internet seems slower and not so responsive.

Hi guys, just bought RT-AC68 but having some problem. Connection from both of my android phones keep getting disconected/dropping connection by the router, log not showing anything related but i have no problem with my laptop. Any idea why? Is it gotta do with the dual bands thingy? I got both of the 2.4ghz and 5ghz to use the same SSID.

Edit: Fixed by disabling both of the beamforming functions on both bands.

In the WiFi settings for your Android devices, is 'Keep WiFi On During Sleep' enabled?

Perhaps you have many open connections as well from P2P/torrent applications etc? Mine on fresh boot has 3MB of free RAM only.

Not sure if this is a sign of my RT-N12 gonna die but only recently when I start to download around 5 torrents or more at the same time, the router shoots up to 100% CPU and hangs, never had this issue before. hmm.gif

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Feb 21 2016, 01:58 AM)
how old is yr rtn12?
*
3 years old now.

Further observations, it's not really about how many torrents I'm downloading at the same time but the speed. Even if I download 10 torrent files together but if I limit overall global speed to 20mbps, everything still works fine. The router somehow "hangs" when the speed is near 30mbps. What I noticed is at 30mbps, the router's CPU load is at 100% causing the router to seem like it "hangs" until I reduce the speed which will lower the CPU load.

ASUSmy Is the router dying or unable to handle load?

Old don't gone, new won't come.

True but I just need some clarification if this is a hardware limitation of the RT-N12 or not. Torrenting at 30mbps causes router CPU load to be at 100% and therefore unable to do anything else. sweat.gif

QUOTE(edministrator @ Feb 21 2016, 09:19 PM)
router load depends on how many sessions/connections during torrenting, and most likely the router's CPU/NPU and it's limited ram is overloaded. try investing in a higher end model such as RTN66U.
*
But weird thing is I can torrent just 2-3 files at the same time at 30mbps and CPU load is at 100% making it seem like it "hang" and can't browse the net and all.

When I torrent about 10 files at the same time but limit overall download speed at the torrent client to 20mbps, CPU load is around 90% and everything else works fine.

Also, the RT-N12 D1 is stated to have 'Powerful Online Multitasking at up to 30,000 Data Sessions'. My torrent client is set to only have 250 max connections. It seems like the issue isn't with the number of sessions/connections. hmm.gif

are you using latest firmware? perhaps try reset to factory default?

else can try DDWRT or Tomato to see if issue persists.
*
I'll try to reset it later. I've tried DD-WRT and Tomato before but it seems like wasn't really stable with random reboots, don't think so there's a 100% stable custom firmware for the RT-N12 revision D1.

Just wonder which one should i buy? I just need the basic unit for my unifi 30mbps and hassle free compatible with hypptv.

RT-N12D1 or RT-N12HP?
*
Both have the same hardware inside it, the only difference is the wireless power, the RT-N12HP comes with high gain antennas (but they are pretty long) for better wireless coverage.

Hi OKLY,

May I ask, is there any other feature that you have enabled on the router? Like QoS or VPN.

And do you notice what is the CPU usage if you not downloading anything?

Thank you
*
QoS is enabled.

CPU usage when not downloading is usually less than 10%.

Which has a stronger antenna? RT-N12 D1 or RT-AC1200HP? Basically external vs internal antennas. hmm.gif

The RT-N18U or RT-AC55UHP should be decent choices at a decent price.
