Good for you coffee dude. Mine being struck with the same problem but cannot solve

Need some help here.

Mine is a 320g MY set PS3 slim, update 4.46 through the PS3 internal processes. I leave it to update but was surprise to see the 8002F1F9 error message at 8X% progress .

Tried for 3 nights already, most of the time it will stuck around 8X% but once it did stuck at 99% which I thought sudah ok but it end up with the same error message

Among the approach I tried:
1. Boot into recovery mode but it will still directly goes to the Update screen and stuck at 8X% again. (~ 10 attempts)
2. Swap with another 2.5 120GB HDD from another PS3, it will boot into safe mode but PS3 says I do not have the correct firmware (4.31 or above). (2 attempts)
3.1 I formatted my 2.5 120GB HDD to FAT32 using
3.2 Prepared another external harddisk with FAT32 and put the downloaded 4.46 Update file (PS3UPDAT.PUP) in \PS3\Update\ folder.
3.3 I boot up and press Select and Start 5 second according to on screen instruction to format my 120GB HDD in PS3.
3.4 reboot of PS3, and I am being prompt with the user agreement for updating the firmware and have to choose agree, then the update System Firmware starts again.
3.5 This time, the update process failed at 40% !! making less progress then before.

The thing I not yet / not dare to try:
1. Format the 320GB hard disk to FAT32 and try to update using the external hard disk.
2. Open up and swap parts with another PS3 I have.
3. Send to sony centre

Any suggestion from the forumers?

change the hdd? oops u already changed the hdd still error hmm..

if your ps3 still in warranty, just send to service centre..

Warranty for PS3 is 1 year? then no more.

But the sticker at the bottom not yet removed.

To complete my story:

At last I choose #3 send to Sony Centre

After checking from Sony, they say is Main board failure.

So I guess that's it for the life of this PS3. :'(

I usually play ps3 A downstairs but sometimes ny familyy wanna watch tv soi have to play upstairs on ps3 B but thing is ps3 B doesnt have the game save on ps3 A

Is there a way? Like online,? Cloud or something

I heard if using usb and use data transfer utility.. I will lose the game saves on ps3 A if i transfer it to ps3 B

You have to subscribe to PS+ if you want to use the Cloud Save. FYI, you can only download from cloud after 24 hours you upload.

USB transfer also ok. Just go to the saves in XMB and copy to USB. No losing save games risk. Then when you finish playing on PS3 B can copy back to PS3 A. Only one issue is that some games (minority) are save protected so you can not coppy to USB only to Cloud. (eg Dark Souls).

Anyone know the most reliable and reasonable price repair shop for a YLOD PS3 phat (circa 2008/9) ?
This will be first time repair.
PS3 is unmodded but I had swapped the original 40GB with 500GB.

is been a while since i last played my ps3.. recently took it out and update and start playing..
i notice during gameplay, sometimes music/sound shuttered and lags.. cutscene is also lagging, pausing every few seconds..

any advice? this happens while running from discs and local hdd game..

When I attempted to load some games like Infamous 2, GOW Ascension, it required an update which made sense, however I got stucked with error 800233ef everytime during the download.

the PS3 is model CECH-3006

Could be lens problem. Have you tried installing the games into HDD and then try again?

psn game is on hdd.. same thing happens..
tried to rebuild database, restore, reformat and stuff.. still same..
do i send it to sony? or can I just send it to some game shop to check it and stuff? is no longer under warranty..

Better send it to Sony..since warranty already finish. Suspect maybe some heatsink problem.....

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask.
I have a PS3 which bought 2 yrs ago and I seldom play it. Therefore I lend it to my cousin so that he can fully utilize my PS3 and recently I wan get it back for GOW ascension. However, I discovered that he installed CFW 3.55 on my PS3
Now, I can't play any game due to the CFW. I want to restore it to the original state, how do I do that? Just install the latest PS3 firmware like I used to do previously? or I need to format the entire hard disk so that I will not get ban by the PSN?
It's been quite some time since I last used my PS3, world change and things change, anyone mind to PM me the step by step guide to restore to OFW?
