Just to share my recent experience with 2 different vets.
Last Friday, my puppy was seriously ill and I thought I had no choice but to go to Medivet (They seem to be the only one operate 24 hours). I went to Medivet and the doctor did 2 test(saliva, stool) for my puppy and he explained to me it's necessary. After the test, he told me both showed negative result and told me most probably it's just a normal diarrhea. He gave my puppy a jab and a bottle of antibiotic. The bill was RM299. RM150 for consultation after 12am, RM120 for the 2 tests, RM29 for medication. I paid and left the place thinking that if my baby is treated well then I won't mind the high charges. However, my poor lucky became worse and worse and I sent her to another vet in Damansara the next morning. The vet prescribe some medicine and asked me to fast my baby for a day. It was terrifying that midnight, my baby vomitted 3 times and was very weak and I can see signs of dehydration. Knowing that I could no longer wait, I had to send her for emergency treatment again. Found that the Segar veterinary hospital takes emergency call 24 hours too, I sent my baby there as I had bad experience with the Medivet. The vet, unlike the previous 2, was very attentive and helpful. He did a parvo virus test and told me that it is negative result. I told him the previous doctor did the test too. He replied me that the test may not show positive result instantly so it's better to do it again as a safety measure. However, as my puppy is too young, dehydration is a very serious problem and can be life threatening. He then put her on drip and injected vitamin and the necessary medication into the drip to stop my baby from vomiting. He told me that he needed to keep my baby in the hospital for 2-3 days. During that three days, he called me every few hours to update me on my puppy. I felt relieve as my baby was finally in the right hands. Just brought my baby home yesterday and the bill was only RM370 for emergency call, 3 nights stay, IV treatment and medication, they did not charge for the test. I considered it cheap compare to Medivet which charged me RM299 for nothing! She is recovering well, the doctor called me last night and asked if she is ok. He asked me to contact him if there is anything unusual. Even though they are quite far from where I stay, I will definitely go back for my baby's vaccination and maybe neutering later. Very helpful vet and staff and I recommend them! |

QUOTE(ShaneNg @ Apr 17 2008, 07:16 PM) Dear everyone, i am here to post my bad experience. Months ago, I brought my cat to the DBKL SPCA at AIR PANAS to spay. I filled up the form and leaved her there, then an INDIAN GUY with SPEC and MUSTACHE asked is my cat vaccinated then i said NO. He said no problem , come back in two hours and everything will be fine. Later, 1 & 1/2 hour i received a call said that my cat already died. He explained, oh...maybe the cat is not vaccinated but he didnt advise me before that...got disease la...bla bla bla , gave so many reason but before that he was so confident that everything will be OK!!! Then the doctor even worse....said that when he started the operation,he just cut a little bit and all the bloods coming out and the cat KEEP SHOUTING ??!!!( Isnt the cat should be already fainted ?) But he didnt know what to do so just euthanize her and thats it. Months later, i brought the other cat to another vet to do operation because he got internal wound in his cheek. After operation the cat was still sleeping. i asked the doctor and she said the cat should be anaesthetised untill the operation done even tough a spay operation. Which mean the DBKL doctor was not fully anaesthetised my cat before the operation. I know many pets owner walk in with the pet and come out happily with the pet safe, and maybe my cat is unlucky, but this explained how unprofessional the doctor is, using those cheap medicine and think that he could easily done the operation. Hope this can be an advice for you THANKS. I'm sorry for your lost. I've experience neutering at the DBKL SPCA twice(different times) and both my cats we're fine after the procedure. Both of them have been vaccinated atleast 1-2 weeks before neutering actually. Both were half awake due to the aneasthesia when I bring them back home. DBKL SPCA has done countless of neutering and spaying, they are actually more experienced in that area than any other vet. I am not sure what was the actual cause for your cat's death, but it is highly advisable to vaccinate your pet before taking them for neutering/spaying unless it's a stray cat/dog. ----- Okay, please add this vet in the 1st page list ARA AMPANG ANIMAL CENTRE (A new branch of SEGAR VETERINARY) 9A, PUSAT KOMERSIL ARA AMPANG BATU 5 JALAN AMPANG 68000 AMPANG, SELANGOR TEL : 03-4256 7125 FAX : 03-4256 7135 Good doctor, great service, recommended KP |

I just went to a vet in Seri Kembangan yesterday. I think this vet is not in the list on page one yet.
Here's the address of the vet: St. Angel Animal Medical Center, No 1-1, Jln Equine 9, Taman Equine, Bandar Putra Permai, 43300 Seri Kembangan. They treat dogs and cats mostly. But they did take a look at my guinea pigs. The doctor even showed me the mites under the microscope. So all in all they were professional and helpful. |
