Just to share my recent experience with 2 different vets.

Last Friday, my puppy was seriously ill and I thought I had no choice but to go to Medivet (They seem to be the only one operate 24 hours).

I went to Medivet and the doctor did 2 test(saliva, stool) for my puppy and he explained to me it's necessary. After the test, he told me both showed negative result and told me most probably it's just a normal diarrhea. He gave my puppy a jab and a bottle of antibiotic. The bill was RM299. RM150 for consultation after 12am, RM120 for the 2 tests, RM29 for medication. I paid and left the place thinking that if my baby is treated well then I won't mind the high charges.

However, my poor lucky became worse and worse and I sent her to another vet in Damansara the next morning. The vet prescribe some medicine and asked me to fast my baby for a day.

It was terrifying that midnight, my baby vomitted 3 times and was very weak and I can see signs of dehydration. Knowing that I could no longer wait, I had to send her for emergency treatment again. Found that the Segar veterinary hospital takes emergency call 24 hours too, I sent my baby there as I had bad experience with the Medivet. The vet, unlike the previous 2, was very attentive and helpful. He did a parvo virus test and told me that it is negative result. I told him the previous doctor did the test too. He replied me that the test may not show positive result instantly so it's better to do it again as a safety measure. However, as my puppy is too young, dehydration is a very serious problem and can be life threatening. He then put her on drip and injected vitamin and the necessary medication into the drip to stop my baby from vomiting. He told me that he needed to keep my baby in the hospital for 2-3 days. During that three days, he called me every few hours to update me on my puppy. I felt relieve as my baby was finally in the right hands.

Just brought my baby home yesterday and the bill was only RM370 for emergency call, 3 nights stay, IV treatment and medication, they did not charge for the test. I considered it cheap compare to Medivet which charged me RM299 for nothing! She is recovering well, the doctor called me last night and asked if she is ok. He asked me to contact him if there is anything unusual. Even though they are quite far from where I stay, I will definitely go back for my baby's vaccination and maybe neutering later. Very helpful vet and staff and I recommend them!
