Guys.. need some feedback. I currently have 2 choice of tires to choose for 205/50/R17.

1. Falken Azenis FK-453 Made in Japan
2. Continental Premium Contact 2 Made in Europe

Getting them from some left over stock in country down south due to limited choice in Malaysia.

The only rubber I have good experience with is Bridgestone but the Potenza RE050 cost a bomb here!

Currently on Pilot Preceda 1.

Thanks!

i have used fk-452 but not the fk-453 and tested a car fitted with cpc2. am leaning more towards the fk-452 simply because it grip and corners better. intermediate traction is marginally better.
tread wear and comfort wise, , the cpc2 is a rung above. but i have never bother about comfort, anyway.
buy one which suit your preference / driving style.

fk-453 is a thad cheaper compared to cpc2.

I had good experience with the first batch of contis but the second one(sime tire) really is hopeless. Noisy and felt like some cheapo tires in terms of comfort and grip. Not sure if the Europe version is better. The cpc2 u sat in is local or import?

I have only tried ZE912 years back on another car and I can say nothing much to shout about. Never tried the azenis but was told not to expect too much as these are not premium tires compared to Bridgie, Mich and Conts..

Then again I've given up hope on Michs.. they just do not perform in rain!

I'm leaning towards comfort driving nowadays but not keen on sacrificing the fun sometimes.. so its quite a tough choice.. Will Falken get very noisy after like 10-20k of use?

localized conti are made to suit our road condition and climate, thus, harder compound which tend to get noisy over the time. the cpc2 was germany made fitted to mk6. noise level may determined by the tread pattern and arm bushes but am okay with falken azenis series.
ze-912 is just rung above the likes of 322 and 522. not as hopeless as both thou.
btw, i am a fan of azenis series. in fact, i've had a good memory of st-115 and fk-452. both tires really comes to play when my 4 potters reach it's limit.

premium doesn't go with brand. it measures by the tires' model.
ie: bridgestone turanza and my-01 sux but most of their re- series are just great! so does the conti sports against their conti comfort sibling, or yokohama a-drive against their s or advan series.
it's just a matter of personal preference. we can't have performance and comfort in one package. but few tires from different manufacturer does come close.

Yeah that's what we should think generally are made to suit local climate but it really is a disaster.. humming sound when doing under 60kmh and the grip is nothing like the first batch which was brought in. It was exactly the same model as I insisted them to remain due to the good experience with the first batch. doh.gif

Can't deny my arm bushing are failing but still reluctant to change as I rarely drive the car now.. blink.gif

Heard very bad comments on 322 and 522. I suppose quality things do come at a higher price.

Agreed each brand have their premium and affordable range.
Bridgestone Turanzas are ok depending on which model as they are mostly premium touring for sedans where as the Potenza series are for performance. No doubt the MY-01 is a total failure replacement of their Techno 50 if I'm not wrong. I've tried the RE030 and by far the best rubber I've tried to date!

I think my main concern is cheap and reasonable performance and comfort. The Azenis seems to fit the bill just nice and since its from Japan, it shouldn't go very wrong.

the lesser you drive the car, the faster the bushes give way...at least, its the rule for me. hence, i have to swap car every week or so. and most of the bridgestone re series are good tires.
bear in mind, japan made tires are of softer compound, tread wear out faster than the equivalent s.e.a country made. but the grip is excellent.
btw, i usually stay away from 'pear' shape tires. they are not mean for handling.

Yeah, agreed.. the car is very low used by previous owner and myself for the past half year. .
Don't mind the wear as I'm out of the country most of the time thus the low usage of the car.. for me the rip and comfort is important.

'pear' shape? any example? human body i know la.. hahaah

nct5, a-drive and m5 are few example of 'pear shape' tires.
even the ps3 at manufacturer's recommendation pressure look like pear shape. one with good handling characteristic are more of a 'square shape'.
that is the layman term.

both have comfort and performance criteria..

Fk 453 is flagship tire for falken..good grip in dry or wet..and low noise. performance wise fk 453 win

Pt 722 falken ultra performance tire too..but heard review is more too stability in wet and more comfort than fk 453..
