QUOTE(furuku89 @ Sep 4 2024, 06:42 AM) Ambank is better for overseas transactions, offering RM 1 per mile, compared to UOB's revised rate of RM 1.2 per mile. I will be applying for Ambank Enrich soon! So far, I have 4 credit cards for earning miles: For Local Use: 1. Amex Platinum Charge Card 2. HLB Visa Infinite For E-wallet: 1. Alliance Bank For Overseas: 1. UOB PRVI Elite Miles (planning to switch to Ambank soon) UOB revision is news to me. Got Prev elite just less than 2 months ago and applied Ambank Enrich infinite for the additional benefits. Only cons with Ambank is, we have to tied with Enrich points. I have 2 flights recently rescheduled for Sydney and screw up my whole planning. Looks like the internal issues not going to be solved anytime soon for MAS

Your AMEX should be way better than the HLB, unless you find it difficult to use AMEX? Ambank now till June 2025 is RM3 for local spend isn’t it better? It's unclear if this limit has been reached, especially since Maybank users redeemed over 100 million in just a few hours. My priority usage is Amex, then Grab for e-wallet, followed by HLB. Grab soon will have charges too

QUOTE(furuku89 @ Sep 10 2024, 06:43 PM) I plan to use switch UOB Prvymiles Elite to Ambank Visa Infinite for overseas spending purposes. I'm still struggling to find a good local spend card. I spend a lot on the usual offline shopping, groceries, dining and etc etc... So far the one I am using is either the SCB Journey or UOB WC, but I don't find the accumulation is good enough.

I am now just using Alliance card to reload to ewallet as they have the best conversion rate so far, and use ewallet to pay since most shops/restaurants accept QR code payment.

If Amex isn't available, I utilize Grab with an Alliance top-up (despite the 1% fee, it's still worth it) or my HLB Visa Infinite card. I lean towards redeeming miles. P.S: The Amex Charge card has an annual fee of RM 3250, which cannot be waived. However, I frequently travel and take advantage of their travel perks. Amex is just an hassle, I've slowed down my usage of it. I'm probably considering the alliance or the HLB one.

We still lack a good general spending miles card in Malaysia for Dining and Grocery... The closest one we had was 1.5 years ago with CIMB Travel World Elite card at 1 mile per ringgit. Now Alliance Bank Visa is as good at 0.5MPR. You may also consider PB Visa Signature.. for the green categories like pharmacy, grab, EV charging you get 1 mile per ringgit...

Don't forget there is a 1% surcharge every time you reload TnG and Grab eWallet from cc.
