I'm using a Logitech MediaPlay mouse. Got volume, FF, REW buttons  thumbup.gif
Can't see the need for a seperate Remote control as I don't have a tuner in my HTPC (I play only DVDs & downloaded files on it)
Mouse is RM 199 in most outlets.

I been reading lots of review on these SFF / HTPC casing. A lot also look damn cool, but the noise part not many can be silent (when buying as stock config).

I mean, when we use our hifi we don't hear any whirring sound coming from it. For PC case, sure got the case fan, psu, hard disk, dvdrom all contribute to the noise. I think to silence the whole PC will cost many hundreds of RM...

Back to the silverstone I think its very cool looking, its got 17cm height, enuf to stick in your big momma cpu cooler also. Compatible with MCE is great also.

But 1.2K ... oh well if ur audiophile 1.2K is peanuts...

agree with ur 'peanut' statement.

I got a friend who is really Hi-Fi freak. His setup costs a cool RM82K. That's only a stereo setup. Answer : 'Suka punya pasal.'

if you use passive cooling PSU and GC , and also fanless Scythe Ninja on a Sempron / Athlon 64, and low dba casing fans... you should be able to reach near noiseless on HTPC or any PC setup for that matter.

But you can't play high end games tongue.gif Good for other stuff though.

My rig:
PSU : OK very silent
GC: Low end Ati 1300, very silent
HSF: Zalman 9500@ 1400RPM, silent
Case Fan: Vantec 92mm@1800RPM, silent

Basically the noise is from my HSF and CaseFan. HSF is tricky cos my Pentium D 830 is hot momma. May consider replacing it cry.gif

How to get really silent case fan? Is there a way for me to lower the speed of my current case fan? Undervolting?

guys,

i'm thinking to set up another HTPC.

Considering Athlon 64 or AM2......... which one is the more sensible choice?

I've just bought this casing complete with 16x2 VFD and remote receiver and controller. But i don't reccomend this to MCE user...... bye bye silverstone!

AM2 would be a better choice if you are selecting between these 2 only. But it'll be best if you can get hold of MoDT mobo and Yonnah proc. They are much quieter and great energy saver without impacting performance. But not cheap though tongue.gif

Hey I was just checking out this casing last nite, I wanna get another HTPC also, this one is good option, but hope you can help out:

1) where you got from? inc. the VFD and remote?

2) How come not recommend to MCE user?

3) By the way I notice that you need to get PCIE riser to put in your video card or else how you Video-Out?

4) Also, 3 fans there, 1x 60mm on side, 2x 70mm on top, i feel will be noisylah...
If GF is good looking but noisy still ok, but casing... rclxub.gif

5) How to slot in TV tuner?

Sorry if many question, I like this case and wanna get it too,thanks...

A64 is kinda cheap at this moment........ what's the main advantage of AM2 besides DDR2 for HTPC point of view?

there is apci riser also. try checking on the coolermaster webpage. as for silent you can check out on shuttle pcs. they run on heat pipes which sends the heat out to the outside of the case. those small fans can be replaced with silent fans wat. coolermaster makes silent case fans most of the time.

just wanna ask. the VFD is 2 lines only right?

Because s939 is going obsolete starting next year, AMD is planning to cut off production for a few models. So keeping a s939 mobo is a bit useless after next year, AM2 on the other hand might still be existing until 2009 or more. The same goes to the memory parts, DDR2 is replacing DDR production lines at a rapid pace.

Wait till next month end , and you can get a lot more cheaper AMD processors after Intel's Conroe release.

the case is still untouched as i do not have time.... got 2 kids at home and the mother too.....

1. bought it from Just PC @ Imbi. come bundle with Multimedia Value Pack- VFD & Remote. i didn't intentionally look for this case as i was dreaming for Silverstone or Zalman. just so happened to bump into this CM while waiting for my appointment @ BB area. kinda impulsive purchase since it's half of the Silverstone price and i'have read this casing sometime ago but couldn't find it.

2. the remote control is an IMON OEM. to work with MCE is not straight forward unless u wanna spand some time to program and some research.... not easy for those not into tweaking with some hair-pulling action.... might as well get a MCE remote/receiver.

3. the case come with PCIe and PCI (2 slots)risers as standard.

4. when you try to court a pretty gal and you know that she may potentially to be a noisy one, you wouldn't care taht much just to get hold of her........after you have "tried" her then you will start thinking whether you wanna live with it, or to make her quiet or to ditch her....LOL biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

5. Slot it into the PCI riser....kekekeke can even use 2 tuners....

Ya I checked out the Shuttle Ice cooling where heatpipe connect to rear exhaust fan. Its great so what I did, I check out all the LYP pricelist which have Shuttle, and check each models reviews on the net. End of the day its really quite expensive but its a niche market also. I'd love to get one but around RM1500 its a little steep. Ya I think most of the fans will need replacing, most online reviews said the shuttles were noisy (as a media box)

Half of Silverstone means around RM500 ... but thats reasonable still, add a Hauppage and it'll be 1K total ouch ...

Thanks lots man, really appreciate. Now I wont work tomorow and go LYP instead darnit
