Hi any Maxis user gets an SMS from 22105 today?

The msg content is as below :

RM0. Anda telah terima konfigurasi telefon yang terbaru. Sila padam dan hidupkan semula telefon anda

It sounds like a fraud to me. or is it really a fix for the 3G issue?

wta to those who update to 6.1.2, did u guys solve the 3g issue? im on celcom 6.1 jb. my problem is it seem my ip5 will always connect to E instead of 3g. my sony arc n xperia z hv no problem with 3g, both also celcom line. i always need to toggle airplane mode just to bring back the 3g, n when it change from 3g to E, it is either wont change back to 3g until i use airplane mode or it will take a very long time  to switch back to 3g. please advise.

I've this issue too, but I did not JB.

Sometime even switched back to 3G, but it wont load.

Mine some time even worst, from Edge revert to o sign = GPRS.

I updated to 6.1.2 from the 6.0.2 SEED set that i just got.
It's the software i can confirm because prior to updating as i mentioned above, I can get good signals, and able to detect 3G immediately. After updating, shit comes back. fuk.

The best way now is to switch from auto mode to manual mode when finding ur telco. Do note that this doesnt enhance 3G connection it only increases the possibility to detect 3G after turning on and off the airplane mode.

Lastly, I reconfirmed with the maxis guy again and he said to me that the problems current network problems iPhone 5 users are facing now is also partly maxis's fault as they are consistently having problems with iPhone 5's network. Other telcos work as well. he summed up to me:
50% maxis problem, 50% iOS update.

Ha.
6.0.x no such 3G crappy problem. Only 6.1.x have this 5#!+
You should stick with the older firmware.

I'm kinda surprised that the refurbished set is having the ios 6.0.x still

I've more than that speed if under best 3G coverage area.

Here are the emails Celcom responded to me.

QUOTE
In response to your concern on the network quality, we have taken immediate action to communicate with our network technical team for them to conduct necessary test. Our investigation unveils there are low 3G coverage at your area.

Subsequently, appropriate recommendation for a new site has been put forward to the respective department for their deliberations and next course of action.

We were made to understand that one of our officials has contacted you and briefed further on the matter.

It is hoped that the above could clarify the situation and we appreciate your kind understanding in this circumstance.

Here is another email after I replied.

On that note, we regret to inform that there is no plan for expansion at this juncture, however, appropriate recommendation has been put forward for consideration, perhaps/be included in the future plan.

We hope that the above will clarify the situation.

It is a pleasure serving you and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and contribution to Celcom.

I think MCMC aka SKMM should release the license for 3G on GSM 900MHz too, so that we can have better 3G.

And also LTE on 1800MHz and 2100MHz.

Otherwise we must be always got poor coverage, or more tower to be built (people will protest more).

Is the reason you update to 6.1.2 so you could restore the phone with your previous backup?
Because as far as I know, you can't restore a backup with a newer firmware to a phone with an older one

Else if I were you I would have stayed at 6.0.x smile.gif

When I got the phone its new set. So gotta wanna restore backup using iTunes.
iTunes only allow backup to be restored from my previous phone to current phone only if I update the firmware of current phone.
So update lor.

But I know my risk before updating. But upon weighing, my contacts are more important. Cz i need to use the phone everyday.
ANyways, anyone updated to 6.1.3 ?

I asked the maxis staff about this 3G issue. They said its their own network issue.
Nothing to do with the firmware nor the nano sim(as some forummer here has pointed out)

downloaded and updated 6.1.3.
Can say 3G connection improved. Although connection may not be immediate, but takes around 1min tops.

Encountering the same issue. It runs well within the 3G coverage in Msia but after it disappears, it will not come back on, meaning stuck without 3G. The phone needs to be manually reboot in order to get the 3G back, same place with my ip4 has full bar !!

I am wondering if IOS or iphone5 is screwed up or our local telco supplier/ MAXIS screwed up?

When call them, they say Apple fault as it is software/ IOS related .. Rather sickening to turn on/off just to get a stupid 3G signal, which i am paying for .. sometimes, wondering would the Kimchi competitor better...
