If you use aosp rom, everything is perfect.
User apps (stuff you install) are perfect, all will scale perfectly.
Aosp system apps scale perfectly as well. No distortion whatsoever.

But I use touch wiz rom, system apps will not scale, instead they get cropped.
Example: dialer,tw launcher & camera
Still usable just not nice looking.
I rarely use dialer, since I have speed dial in home screen, I use apex launcher, and camera jb+. So not an issue for me.
User apps scale perfectly.

The buildprop change is not permanent.
If u don't like the on screen keys, just delete the line and restart and the on screen keys will be gone. No harm at all.

kindda sad with S2 HDMI out capabilities.
its performance is not consistent.
i'm comparing with ipad3 using its own hdmi adapter.

first downside is the ipad one no need external power, just connect adapter to ipad, and hdmi cable to adapter.
s2 one need plug in charger only work. and even with charger, it wont charge, and battery % will drop when use.
ipad one without charger, use for 1 hour, only drop 7%.

s2 cable syok syok will disconnect itself and takes 10seconds like that to connect back. if you touch it, very easy disconnect, so need to be very careful. even if never touch, if get notification, it will confirm disconnect. maybe not enough power or due to the vibration. ipad one can shake shake also wont disconnect, maybe old ipad connector so fat, makes it very secure.


for image quality. tried with various TV.
using the same image, and video, and hdmi cable.

on 1920x1080 tv,
ipad super smooth,image crystal clear,color vivid (like amoled quality) in everything (video,picture,apps,games).

S2 for image vieweing takes time to load (tried 4.2 gallery, samsung gallery, camera JB+ gallery),all also when swipe to a new pic, the image appear unclear, but got a layer of grey blurness that need half a second to clear off (only on TV, doesnt appear on the phone screen).
the color is seriously very pale compare to ipad one. S2 framerate is inconsistant, sometimes smooth sometimes lagg. overall sharpness is terrible, i think it just upscale 800x480 and stretch it to 42inch. thats why image viewing sucks if compared to ipad one. but for video, it does play in 1080p, very sharp and nice, color also very good. duno why the difference for video. only video performance is good.

its not very noticable when you just see the s2 one, but once change to ipad one to compare
the difference is very noticable.

on 1024x768 resolution tv
S2 and ipad both also consistantly fast, fluid, and vivid.
picture clarity same for both device, probably due to the low TV resolution.

btw, i'm no apple lover, but in this hdmi out thing, the ipad is a very much better performer, especially with bigger screen, better color, and better stability (not easy disconnect suddenly).


lastly, very butthurt cos i buy the hdmi official samsung one in garage sales, cost rm35.

in lowyat plaza, got sell one hdmi adapter for rm29 only.
it has build in hdmi cable, means the adapter itself have a 3meter long wire to go to your phone, no need use real hdmi cable that is fat and hard to handle.

Everybody claim. But it's not fix.
It only happen when wifi on though. I just realize it.
All these lsj rom same only. No point keep switching.
Stick to one n wait for official la.

for me i mostly on my wifi, so i do notice it. but if im outside for lunch/dinner where i off wifi, never happen at all.
i havent test long enough to confirm this, but try observe your freeze, it only happens during wifi on right?
i dont remember seeing it happen when wifi off.

about the fix, its made by a developer called goldie something.
he notice that in some codes, one line is using S3 one, maybe samsung leak rom forgot to change the battery value, so he change it from 2100 to 1650. and he says he think "maybe" it will solve it. but everyone else 'assumes' it is "solved", so they add this to their custom rom and proudly announce no more lockscreen freeze. those people that says "yeah its solved", must be outdoor and have their wifi off. just my thoughts.

i realize this long ago, was wondering what kind of new things you expect from jellybam, feature wize it has everything.
just need focus on stability and bugs.

actually android development has reached its peak.
even you use other phone, the top roms are the same PA, CM, AOKP,
PAC man rom & jellybam that combines all the feature its really the ultimate aosp experience.

the next big thing is that someone manage to use stock samsung as base, and add jellybam features.
then really perfect, i want working wifi direct and mhl port.

well guys, if you use siyah kernel or anything related to siyah (dorimanx), there's risk of getting sod, or hang.

i used my phone for 1 year 4 months, other than 1 month using siyah getting sod daily, even when i never tweak anything in the external tweaks app, also will get hang sometimes. fresh install, no underclock also will get sod. haiz.

all the other time when using stock kernel, or cm kernel, 0% have hang, seriously. in xda, every complain related to sod is people using siyah or dorimanx.

duwan hang dun use siyah. whatever extra feature that kernel offers, not worth if it has % to cause hang. or if you're lucky a current version with your current setting doesnt cause hang, stick to it, dont update the kernel, resist the temptation.

every other LSJ rom has multi window function.

its really useless and purely gimmic on our s2.
there is option to turn it on off, but i never turn it on to use before.

the only practical use i can think of is to compare 2 picture side by side using different gallery app.

try disaster rom, best for me so far.

one thing about samsung rom, they are damn big, 500+MB
and first boot takes more than 5 minutes.

me, its just the same as previous version, just add torch at the toggles.
i quit alliance rom because i notice it always wake lock due to media, i guess the more tweaks/theming you add, the less stable it become, so just stick back to disaster.

i never check ram usage at all. never bother.
i wipe data. dont want to risk any issue.

The lock screen freeze bug has plague leak samsung roms long enough. A cure has been found.

This kernel fix the lock screen bug, at least it claims to do so.
And it also fix the exynos exploit. Without harming camera.

Flashing it n checking it out. This seems promising

our phone purely plastic la, where got metal?
the only metal part i see is the thin boarder around the home button, and surrounding the camera lens.

it feels like plastic to me, mine is black color one, so the side also black.

i remember my friends s2 white color, the side is silver color, looks more like metal
so yours is white color one?

because for mine, black, really looks and feels like plastic.

no peeling,rust or anything. must be the casing that i use, yeah.

really surprised to know got metal in my phone chassis. all this while people always kutuk samsung use cheap plastic.

mine also black background using original unmodded whatsapp.

i open 'paint' in laptop, resize to 800x480
fill with black color, save, send to hp.
in whatsapp, change background to the black pic made in paint.

tried so many version, test all their settings, in the end cant work properly also, i'm on non g version.

which radio station you hear? you can download the app.
got one fm, my fm, hits fm, fly fm, all the famous fm can download in play store.
better since can hear in earphone and loudspeaker. spirit fm only can earphone, no loudspeaker unless you pay.

anyway now using back samsung jb rom, got back fm radio app, yeah...

i very like black as background, since more battery friendly for amoled screen.
in my sms app called hancent, i install a skin to have black theme.
and i customize the chat background to black.

first time i see whatsapp i was like omg wth at the background, somekind of ugly brown background.
luckily it can customize background, so i changed. i'm not very particular about other icons/bubbles/menus in whatsapp,
as long the background black, i'm happy already

just found out what HDR means,

is there a way to get it on s2?

of course it doesnt affect the functionality of the phone.
