Hi lemanz, a priviledge user here to have tested the m1010. It is called the amilo mini ui3520 in europe. When I saw it being sold in PC Fair Dec '08, I was quite surprised by the warranty offered. 3 years is quite a confidence shown by Fujitsu given that it is manufactured in China. Anyway, one minor complaint, I was not used to the left & right touch pad buttons. Battery life is not that impressive and some times the netbook can act a little weird (shut down all of a sudden once). The acid test? Try watching a short movie and surfing/chatting with the webcam on. I am sure you will be surprised biggrin.gif

Netbooks are not designed to support many heavy applications running at once. One might want to reconsider his/her purchase options if they are into heavy multi-tasking. It is more suited for light surfing, e-mail checking and loading/viewing of photos and such. Oh yeah and for that price (RM1.9k) I think you can get a better model with higher specs.

Hi everyone,

This is probably my first post on the lowyat forum. Since, I am a hardcore Fujitsu fan, I am looking to buy a new Fujitsu laptop, where my budget is 7k and below.

My purposes are basically for high-end research and simulations which utilize high end database manipulation, programming, querying and softwares like MATLAB, Visual Basic, .NET etc and so. So basically my requirements are like high processing speed, large cache, high FSB speed, high RAM (can be upgraded later also), 7200rpm HD-DISK (for faster transfer), and a graphic card, light and slim laptop, 14.1"-15.4" screen (later will connect it to my large LCD flat panel).

I am not really a hard-core gamer, but sometimes I will play the usual online games, or common games such as counter strike, dota just for liesure. I have read a lot of reviews regarding other Fujitsu models. But there are three models I am interested in, for which there is no mention:

A6210
E8420
S6520

Has anyone used these models before? or has them. Please let me know about their performance. All my requirements meet the S6520, but I am only worried about the graphics card. Has anyone used this laptop with the INTEL GMA 4500MHD graphics controller? How is it for games? I heard the drivers only support Vista? I use XP for my development work in Visual Basic.

The other two models E8420 and A6210 are a bit heavy and have big screens also processor and cache are low, which do not meet my requirements enough. Please let me know your experiences. All help is appreciated.

regards,
awyeah

Fujitsu is all about quality.

I am not sure about this card, "S3 chrome 430 ULP". But the S6520 I found in lowyat uses the Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics card. I heard on a forum, Sims 3 can run fine on this laptop with this graphics. Not sure how good graphics Sims 3 requires now lol. thumbup.gif

Here are the benchmarks for the three models I posted above. smile.gif
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphi...List.844.0.html

A6210 - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 - Ranking: 99
E8420 - NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS - Ranking: 94
S6520 - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD - Ranking: 115

Just read normal reviews posted by websites about all these three laptops to get more information. Actually if you see there is not much of a difference in the rankings, for the S6520 if you see the specs, however the 3DMark06 is quite lower than the Radeon and GeForce. I also read a review that the A6210 and E8420 are also not recommended as gaming laptops, since those cards are not also that good enough for high-end graphics. biggrin.gif

Keep in mind that the Intel GMA 4500MHD card shares memory with the RAM also maximum upto 384MB.

What do you mean by option for a dedicated graphics card? I'm sorry I don't know what it means. Means we can put an additional graphics card or what? Actually I am thinking to get the S6520 by this Monday. Will go and use it for a while, if all is okay I will buy it or my second option is the E8420. The A6210 is out of the question for me now, since I don't want to pay extra RM 1000 for a Blu-ray drive I don't want to use. tongue.gif

Ya, most of the Fujitsu Laptops are using this GPU I checked, Intel GMA 4500MHD. I will check with the Fujitsu store here lowyat in Malaysia, maybe they can replace it with the S3 card. Oh, ur not in Malaysia, where are you then? I was looking at the S7220 they don't seem to have that model here in Malaysia also. Even the "N series" laptops also. But I reckon, the N series will be quite pricey.

Weird, I cannot find any reviews on this GPU "Chrome 430 ULP". Some links I found, only a few for this GPU, guess no one has really heard about it:

This is regarding the Chrome 430 GT (looks impressive) smile.gif

Hi guys,

I need this forum help. I'm having this trouble on my LBS2020 laptop. When i on my laptop, there'll be a message "thermal sensor error". I've called to Fujitsu hotline and it says most probably is the fan damage. But now i could hear my fan spin very loudy and sometimes don't even spin. So can i know where i could repair my laptop with a reasonable price in KL?

And where could i get the cheap price of ram for this model of laptop?

Thanks for helping me out.
