When I said activities, I meant the activities section in reference books. (Paper 3 stuff is split into Activities and Experiments in reference books) If I'm not mistaken, activities come out in Section A while experiments come out in Section B? I figured that the most accurate answers for op.definition can be found in the discussion part.

Oh and sorry about the inference part, was thinking about Section B. blush.gif
*
There is no clear-cut rule as to whether which activities or experiments will appear in either section . Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia comes up with questions not based on reference books , but their own question bank . I will list out some important experiments here next time , but for now , all I can tell you is that you should read all the experiments that came out in trial papers . Trust me .

Yes , the marking criteria has gotten lenient . Which is quite good I think ? Mellows my heart when I read ' Please bear in mind that students are keeping up with time constraint when writing the essay , when grading , grade according to impression , not based on a set of rules . Ignore first draft slips and repetitions or omissions where necessary . ' , in mark schemes . biggrin.gif I commit first draft errors quite frequently if I don't re-check my work . The H.E did mention that in one particular year he had a showdown with a CIE examiner as she scored a candidate's work in the lowest possible category , saying that it used American jargons .

Anyway ,

I have this problem in English were I'm not sure which question to choose . Did you face this ? I take a considerable amount to decide on a question .

Regarding what question to choose, I'm having problem too. But I've never attempted to write a factual essay. What I always write are descriptive essays and stories. It's kinda hard to squeeze my brain juice for the points. I think it has something to do with my confidence. I don't know why sad.gif
*
Me too . I've written letters to newspapers , asked Head Examiner and teachers to check my work and have been told that I'll do fine in SPM English , but I still am not satisfied ; hence , difficulty in choosing a question that will best suit me . Confidence issues I guess ? blush.gif

Well, nobody knows how the marking scheme is. MOE changes it every year.

I'm not good at factual, so I always opted for story telling. I even wrote question 4 for SPM.

And that's a problem for me for MUET as MUET only tests candidates on factual essay. Lol.
*
Did you come up with the story on the spot , or just piece together bits and pieces from stories you've read ? How long , approx did you write ?

Yes , but Piagam Madinah / Perjanjian Aqabah are the hotter ones , never came out . Hijrah came out in 2005 .

Oh?? On which part, essay or structures? hmm.gif  Well, it's a good thing that I've been focusing on chapter 4,5 and 6 of Form 4 History earlier on. My teacher often tells me that those 3 chapters (regarding the islam and stuffs) will always, if not most pops out left and right in Paper 2, especially the essay part.
*
I focused on 4, 5 , 7 , 8 . 6 is too long ! cry.gif

I don't know whether it is a coincidence or not, for 3 state papers that I've came across, tamadun hwang ho came out for the first structure question. High probability

'Cause it never came out in SPM !

Gerakan Islah too !

My friend told me that he found out that the P3 experiments that came out for SPM Chemistry since 2005 was never repeated in any other years.

So is it advisable to focus less on the experiments that came out before? Since there is a low possibility that it will come out again.
*
Somewhat ... But I think Vulcanised/Unvulcanised Rubber experiment came out in 2004 and again in 2006 . In Biology , isotonic experiment came out in 2005 and 2006 .

Thanks for the tip, I will  smile.gif

Anyways, just came back from another SJ ceramah(2nd since trial) and both teachers who was giving the talk seems to agree that Tamadun China/Hwang Ho, Piagam Madinah/Aqabah, undang-undang tanah, gerakan Islah/Isu dalam akhbar Melayu and Prinsip demokrasi Negeri Sembilan are hot topics for the coming exams.
*
Mother of God . * takes sunglasses off *

I think we're on to something good here . Those chapters came out in my Trials , came out in Negeri Sembilan Gerak Gempur , spotted by GC's who came to my school , spotted by some state papers .

Keep sharing . biggrin.gif

Gerak Gempur N.S , Biology P3 : Energy Value Experiment
MRSM , Biology P3 : B.O.D

Results came out :

BM - 76 A-
BI - 90 A+
BC - 76 A-
SJ - 88 A
MM - 96 A+
PM - 83 A
MT - 66 B
FZ - 96 A+
KM - 93 A+
BIO - 91 A+

Not using Penang state questions, which were quite easy compared to our school paper cry.gif

Currently looking to get BM to an A ( could have got an A easily if I didn't screw up a bit in my karangan and rumusan). MT was well, very hard, very very hard. Everyone took like a 15 mark drop from mid year. and PM was well, sneaky... mad.gif
*
Awesome results . I like your science grades ! shocking.gif
My Gerak Gempur Negeri Sembian papers were easier than school trials too .

Anyway , what came out in your science papers , experiments ?

You know that some of us take more than 9 subjects , right ?
By the way , what ionic equation qualitative analysis ? The lead chromate one ?

I cannot assure you of this , but let's try to be safe now , shall we ? Reading based on tips is risky enough . biggrin.gif I'm trying to swallow the entire SUCCESS book into my brain before SPM . A senior recommended that I use that book instead of the textbooks , he had 10A+s .

By the way , I dislike the Sejarah textbooks too . Wall of texts . I also rely on mark schemes and notes , they are more succinct . Sejarah textbook frustrates me due to bad organisation of points .

Yea, I do relate. I should talk to my teacher about that. I'll be going to a PM workshop in 2 weeks time, I'll see what I learn there. Have to get PM to A+ level  flex.gif

So guys, how do you do state questions? I find that it is not  worthwhile to print it out for objective so I just do it online.
*
I print out Biology and Sejarah papers mostly . I have almost 20 state papers for Biology , and some for Sejarah --- only the P2 ones though . I figure P1 questions are a waste of time , with SBP and past years , we'd have completed 900 objective questions , I think that's more than enough . Heck , I don't think I have the time to attempt trial papers for Physics and Chemistry . [ MRSM papers being an exception ]

Situation is heating up , people panicking . tongue.gif

Anyway --- for those who'd want to print out trial papers , invest on an affordable laser jet if you could . Saves tremendous amount of time and cost ( get a Black and White one ) .

Me too man , me too . Gerak Gempur N.S Biology was disappointing , the entire P2 comprised of questions from other state trials . Seems like N.S has run out of ideas .

I use a CISS inkjet, save even more.

Not as reliable as my Laser but it is low cost.

But is it as fast ? Duplex printing is the problem with my inkjet , too slow .

By the way , for Sec A P3 Biology , air pollution experiment came out .

Kedah 2013 Chemistry trial question 8 © - One of the answers is superconductor- Conduct electric at high temperature (property)- used in computers. Is this actually correct? I thought superconductors conduct electricity at low temperatures? Hope someone can clarify this.

Critical_Fallacy

Just wanted to thank you for what you've done . Thank you for igniting the spark of curiosity towards more complex mathematical ideas that have never even occurred to me before . A part of my results , whatever they may be ; I owe them to you . I also benefited a lot from your advice on studying Biology using key-words . My Paper 2 marks shot from low 80's or high 70's to 94/100 , which was a first for me . I no longer need to rely on long , drawn out paragraphs of facts in thick reference books , and teachers mark using key-words as well .

I am currently in a very busy , frustrating , challenging , exciting and nerve-wrecking stage in my life . Currently scrambling to fit in all the History facts , Moral exercises and BM points for karangan into my cerebral cortex , and printing out trial papers , which is costly and time-consuming .

But I figured it's only temporary . Whatever may happen , I know that I'll come out stronger .

So , thank you ! Exciting times ahead . My inner-nerdiness can't wait for A-Level Mathematics and Physics , and more time to read books that I have no time for .

QUOTE(1insane @ Oct 4 2013, 07:29 PM)
Mind explaining the 'key word' method you use? Cause now what I am doing is partly memorising all the answer for all types of essays they can ask.
*
example :

Explain the function of R ( contractile vacuole in Paramecium ) . [ 5 marks ]

R maintains osmotic pressure .
Water diffuses into R by osmosis .
R expands to maximum size .
R moves to side of plasma membrane .
R contracts to expel excess water .

Very easy example . You are probably using the F and E method of remembering points for essay questions . F is the main skeleton , E are the explanations to the skeleton . But a very interesting method proposed in MRSM's Biology mark schemes is the ' Science Text ' method . Basically there are two alternatives when writing answers for structured/essay questions in P2 . Here's an example :

Heavy metals contain respiratory inhibitors . Explain the effects of respiratory inhibitors on Paramecium sp . [ 2m ]

Standard Method [ F and E method ]

( Respiratory inhibitors ) inhibit cellular respiration / mitochondria cannot function [F]
Energy cannot be generated [E]
Cellular respiration / active transport cannot be carried out [E]
Contractile vacuole cannot function ( to remove excess water ) [E]
Paramecium dies / bursts / haemolyses [E]

The main point is cellular respiration ceases or mitochondria fail to function . The explanations / effects of it are the E's .

The ' Science Text ' method is described as follows .

o - object
c - condition
p - process/phenomenon
r - result

O1 - ( Respiratory inhibitors )
C/P1 - Inhibit cellular respiration / mitochondria cannot function
C/P2 - Energy cannot be generated / active transport cannot occur
C/P3 - Contractile vacuole cannot contract ( to remove excess water )
R - Paramecium dies / bursts / haemolyses

The second method is more organised , and you can see the process , while the latter method does not arrange the explanations in order . Both are accepted .

In both cases the answer and concise and succinct . This is the method that you should use to remember points for Biology P2 . Much better than long , drawn out explanations in reference books .
