QUOTE WWII BOMBS FOUND IN PD PORT DICKSON: A leisure boat operator got the shock of his life when pieces of rusted metal he found jutting out from the sand at a beach in Telok Kemang here yesterday morning, turned out to be three unexploded mortar shells, believed to be the remains of World War II. It was 9.30am and Mohd Emizal Rosli, 30, was wandering around the reclaimed sand area at Pantai 3, Batu 9, when he stumbled upon the deadly find. “I thought they were scrap metal, so I cleared the sand surrounding one of them and pulled it out. I was surprised to find it resembles a WWII bomb, about 0.3m long,” he said. Shell-shocked and afraid of accidentally setting it off, he slowly let it slide back in place. “That seemed to take ages as my hands were shaking badly,” said Emizal when met yesterday, adding that the three bombs were set about one or two metres apart. He then ran off to inform the authorities at the nearby Telok Kemang police station. The area was immediately cordoned off following the arrival of a Police Bomb Disposal Unit. After combing the area, two similar bombs were found some 30m away at about 1:50pm. The unit then cleared the area of tourists and stall operators, before proceeding to detonate the bombs in-situ, about an hour later. Port Dickson police chief, Superintendent Abd Wahab Harun, said police were always on standby for any discovery of bombs in the area. "We believed the bombs were carried along with the sand from Kuala Lukut for the reclamation project here,” said Abd Wahab. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Abd Wahab said a fisherman, Mohd Zulkifli Mohd Taib, 45, found a hand grenade stuck to his net while fishing around the Teluk Kemang area. He then brought it back to the Port Dickson Fishermen Jetty at 9:40am. "The bomb, believed to be from the WWII era, was rusted and covered in mud but still not used. It was later detonated at the beach near the District Administration Complex compound at around 12:15pm." sosej |

QUOTE(Adam_H @ Mar 17 2013, 02:31 PM) Been reading about ESSCOM latele, What exacty is this ESSCOM. did you really read about it?And what about Joint Force Command 2 in Tawau, what will be their duties after this... Will they be relegated to another task or what ? And why are they appointing a CEO. Couldn't just they expand the joint forces in Tawau.. Pleasse someone please explain this.. Really dumbfounded by the gov direction in handling this type of situation ESSCOM coverage areas were 1400km covering coastline Kudat to Tawau. it include deployment of at least 5 battalions of TDM and GOF. Joined task force of Police and military. HQ will be at Lahad Datu. it were directly under the jurisdiction of Menteri pertahanan. expect some further upgrade and add on in military and polices facilities in that areas. It is a much better solution compare to Ops pasir. |

QUOTE(Adam_H @ Mar 17 2013, 04:14 PM) And tell me that someone is properly suited to take up that post... Couldn't they just beef up ATB2 instead. at least they have more experience than you keyboard warrior. But still this sounds better than letting those mmea jokers having control Rascom experience will come in handy. |

QUOTE(Adam_H @ Mar 17 2013, 05:40 PM) Back then, the Director of Op was CM of Sarawak... Asuming they are trying to imitate rascom, its should be Musa Aman. Haha, similar not imitate.Expecting something similar as 3rd DASC being established again.. I don't think that Musa Aman will be the chief but rather ex army or personnel that have a good background in Military and defense. |
