Yes, lets hope for the best!  smile.gif
btw if your company do comeback, save some jobs for me!  tongue.gif
AV4 have a lots of issues, that's why it remains as prototype
the design can be improved and the AV4 could be the project can be propelled in order to get better result!
R&D is not a very complicated process and time consuming, but to have a platform to work on is a good start!
*
well with AV8 project on hand they wont be going for AV4 for now.
Anyway deftech should put more initiative in R&D. they might learn a few thing in AV8 that can be implemented in AV4. hopefully. biggrin.gif

the time line of AV4 and AV8 is quite far  tongue.gif
I believe that AV8 and AV4 have a very different role, AV4 is much more suited for normal patrol where the AV8 for much more serious business!

*
AV4 can do serious business too.
equip it with M61 vulcan. tongue.gif

AV4 is direct copy of some kinda Belgian 4x4 APC, without doing any improvements on its design..
Dun u need approval from US Congress to do any modifications on US-supplied military hardware?
*
No problem 1 on old tech.
IIRC Even Airod were allowed to do some modification on the F-5e and restoring the F-5e.

QUOTE(cheeming @ Feb 12 2013, 10:21 PM)
yes approval is needed form the congress.

anyway converting F5 to UCAV is not feasible as it might cost more that building from scratch and US already has X45 under development .. Europe is also building a demonstrator called the neuron
*
unless there is a feasible studies we wont know it is feasible.
IIRC US converting their old fighter plane to target drone not that expensive.
The market for F-5 UCAV is there. South korea, thailand, singapore for example.

I believes thats with US Congress's approval, and the modifications was only replacing old camera with digital camera for RF5E
*
I'm saying such project would be huge problem getting approval from US congress's

Deftech buys CTRM from MOF

KUALA LUMPUR: DRB-HICOM Bhd is expanding into aircraft composite components design and manufacturing via the acquisition of Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM).

DRB-HICOM, through DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (Deftech), is paying RM298.3 million for a 96.87 per cent stake in CTRM from the Minister of Finance Inc (MOF).

The group said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday Deftech will sign a definitive sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with MOF upon satisfactory outcome of the due diligence on CTRM.

CTRM develops and produces aircraft composites parts, notably for Boeing, from its facilities in Batu Berendam, Malacca.

It also designs, develops and manufactures composite parts for aerospace and non-aerospace applications including those for the defence and automotive industries.

I think we need a good systems to cover a wide areas.
We serious need coastal radar which capable of detect smaller ship.
Other need would be MPA, UAV and Patrol boat for MMEA.
locating MMEA base in several strategic level is important too to ensure easy and deployment of force if needed.

given our limited manpower we need technology to cover it for efficient use of our manpower.

QUOTE(Mech Warrior 6 @ Feb 20 2013, 12:05 PM)
actually..sometimes it is pretty easy to slip by...coz the sea is like soooo wide....and we dont have sufficient vessels to sweep the sea without leaving a loophole....

i remember when i was on holiday in sabah couple years back in an island, they station 20 army there to cover the whole island..they go patrol with speedboat..but my 2 days there, i only saw them once...or maybe the other time i was in-door...but what i wanted to say is, there are times when the speedboat's sweeping elsewhere instead of location A, B or C...and that's when someone might slip in....

oh..and i managed to talk to a couple of the army folks with steyr also...but i didnt ask whether i can hold it or not.. maybe i shud at least ask..except their malay sounds different with semenanjung..so kinda hav problem having a normal conversation... sad.gif

An effective assets is much prefer.
how many speedboat's you need to buy to cover a huge areas.
can they effectively spots invaders from far?

QUOTE(kerolzarmyfanboy @ Feb 20 2013, 02:25 PM)
but speedboat's price is just a few hundred thousand ringgit aren't they? why they can't buy more speedboats but they can buy those expensive and few in number NGPV?

MADGE system for RMAF (photo : ThalesRaytheon)

FULLERTON, Calif. – ThalesRaytheonSystems today announced full system acceptance has been finalized with the Royal Malaysian Air Force for the Malaysian Air Defense Ground Environment Sector Operations Center III (MADGE) Program. ThalesRaytheonSystems provided the Malaysian Ministry of Defence an enhanced national command and control system.

“The C2 system we’ve executed in Malaysia represents technological integration at its best,” said Kim Kerry, CEO of U.S. Operations for ThalesRaytheonSystems. “We worked with our Malaysian customers to integrate their legacy system and have augmented it with proven technologies, such as the Sentry® command and control system and the Ground Master 400 (GM 400) radar. The result is a system that reliably and effectively meets their requirements.”

The MADGE system operates in real-time and features multi-radar tracking and a flexible human-machine interface. The GM 400 radar will provide additional long-range surveillance capabilities for the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

ThalesRaytheonSystems has more installed command and control systems operating around the world than any other organization. The Sentry command and control system is a proven, comprehensive, real-time system that powers national air sovereignty systems around the world, including the NORAD Battle Control System. The company is also a world leader in battlefield and weapon-locating radar systems. The company’s radar capabilities span short-, medium-, and long-range systems. The ground-based radars are capable of detecting both conventional and unconventional threats for homeland and tactical air defense, counter-battery, and weapons system coordination.

for everything we bought, they buy something else to counter it..and they counter it with more modern and deadly assets..PT-91M with Apache and leopard, Mig-29 and Sukhoi Vs F-16 and F-15SG, etc..this is not something new actually..besides, of all the subs in this region, we have the most stealthy and modern subs..although we only have two..

Can this be classified as an MBT? Description of vehicle indicates its an IFV, but the design doesn't convince me, especially with that cannon turret. Is that a 105mm?

By the way, long time no see guys. Really long time one.
*
is a 120mm cannon turret.
I think it were around light tank and medium tank.
