QUOTE(kerolzarmyfanboy @ Apr 19 2013, 10:34 PM) I thought TNI already signed MOU with Britain to get the vessels for about one-fifth of the original unit cost and expected to enter service with the Indonesian Navy by this year. Can anyone confirm. |

First Ukraine built Zubr class LCAC officially delivered to Chinese Navy (PLAN)
![]() On April 12, 2013 in Feodosiya, representatives of the state-owned defense conglomerate "Ukroboronprom" and Chinese Navy officials signed the certificate of acceptance for the first Zubr (project 1232.2) amphibious hovercraft. On the Ukrainian side the document was signed by Dmitry Peregudov, Ukrspecexport General Director. Ukrspecexport is a state-owned intermediary company for export and import of Ukrainian military products and services. During the ceremony, Chinese officials expressed their appreciation for the quality of work performed by Ukrainian enterprises. The first Zubr LCAC for China was built at "Feodosiya shipbuilding company" and adapted to Chinese Navy needs. Construction of the second ship is onging for the Chinese customer. The Chinese Navy has placed an order for four craft at a reported cost of 315 million US dollars. Two are being built by Feodosiya shipbuilding company, and a second pair of vessels will be built in China under the supervision of Ukrainian technicians. Currently the world’s largest hovercraft, development of Zubr landing ships started in the USSR in 1978, and the first serial ship joined Soviet Navy in 1988. Its carrying capacity is 3 main battle tanks with overall mass of 150 tons or 10 armored personnel carriers weighing up to 131 tons plus 140 marines, or 8 infantry fighting vehicles with mass up to 115 tons. If not carrying armor, Zubr is capable to accommodate 366 men. source: Navy Recognition ![]() ![]() ![]() |

F-22s Make Precautionary Landings in Kadena
by Mike Hoffman on April 19, 2013 ![]() Three F-22s deployed to Kadena Air Base in Japan made precautionary landings over the period of three days in April for various reasons. However, none of the pilots complained of breathing problems that previous pilots had experienced in the fifth generation fighters, Air Force officials said. It’s unclear what caused these precautionary landings, but the result of them have not incurred “unique flight restrictions” for the 12 F-22As deployed to Kadena, said 2nd Lt. Hope Cornin, a spokeswoman for the 18th Wing. Two F-22s made precautionary landings on April 1, while another F-22 made a precautionary landing on April 3, Cornin said. No injuries were reported in any of these incidents. The F-22 remains under a microscope as the fifth generation fighter continues to operate without the flight restrictions the Air Force had placed on the fleet because of complaints from pilots about a lack of oxygen in flight. The service worked for more than two years to figure out the problem and then come up with a solution. Air Force leaders believe they have solved it by replacing the breathing regulator/anti-g (BRAG) valve, installing a new back-up oxygen system and changing the oxygen schedule for the F-22’s onboard oxygen generation system (OBOGS). Plenty remain skeptical, but there have been no reported incidents since the Air Force lifted the flight restrictions to protect pilots. Cornin pointed out that the F-22s involved with the precautionary landings never lost their flight status because of the problems experienced by the pilots. F-22s with the 1st Fighter Wing, JointBase Langley-Eustis, Va., and the 192nd Fighter Wing, Va. Air National Guard, deployed to Japan in January and are scheduled to return to the U.S. this Spring, Cornin said. Salam guys, been a silent reader of this forum for a while now. I m a medical officer serving in a govt. hosp. Hope you you guys can answer a few questions for me.
1. I recently signed up for wataniah. My own readings tells me there are 3 categories of officers assigned with this unit; peg. sukarela, peg. kerahan and peg. tetap but I couldn't find any info on the differences between these 3 categories in terms of job responsibilities and payment. Can you guys share any info? 2. Are specialized officers (doctos, engineers, pharmacists and etc) eligible for special forces selection? I m 26 y.o, 1.66 m tall and weights 55 kg. 3.Any chance I could transfer to the air force from wataniah if I decide to enlist full time? |
