8 years is the warranty period. generally i dun see a problem it can last longer than that.

However, to be realistic, you also cannot expect a perfect condition for a 2nd hand car especially the price paid. Being a 2nd hand car, it will encounter problems in long run like other 2nd hand cars too.  tongue.gif

super agree on this point...
just bought a 2nd hand altis recently. it a 2011 car with 7 speeds cvt. toyota had been well known for it reliability...but in 2 months time the gearbox is down without any symptom...

I hope ur altis will bk to road asap.. thumbup.gif

i get it quite expensive because just want the G spec.
cost me around 81k otr

about the gb since is the 7speed cvt, so is actually still not too common. the mech able to source one from halfcut and cost me RM3.9k for the gb only...overall spend 4.8k for the break down + 1 new gb mounting

spare part cost wise, i think it really cheap compare to honda. the original air filter only cost me RM38. absorber i heard aslo around 200+ per piece..

oic,,g spec is consider fullspec( not sport version like TRD)

rm81k for second hand car I think still got a lot of choice bro.

I driving Toyota hilux double cap now in 6 years, I happy with it because the parts no cost me over pricy.
the air cleaner is around rm70, engine oil for 7 liters around rm130 (bhp brand), absorber below rm250 per pair front n rear one. the one I feel expensive is the tyre, around rm550 per piece for michilin one. sweat.gif
*
yeah...definitely a lot more options there with that price.

nope.. i've called, i've ask, same answer.. check website.. if there's none, means no. if got letter.. then come to replace..

they do it in batches. so your life is pretty much dependent on Honda Malaysia efficiency.

maybe only early batch affected???

I would like the opinion of the owner of Honda Civic FD 1. Any particular issues for this version of Civic i should notice of ? I would appreciate if you could provide me some insights.

My current car is Proton Wira 1.6, bought 5 years ago by cash money. Cars working fine, no issue, except the power windows , but it seems that this is a right time to change a car.
My max budget is 50-60k for 2nd hand car, i was thinking to buy a nice and comfortable car. Preferably 1.8 - 2.0 CC .
Personally i like the outlook of this Civic, for me is better than the latest version currently now on Malaysian market.

Last year my windscreen cracked cost me around RM 4353.11 consist of new windscreen + moulding + sealant + labour + GST. Claimed my windscreen insurance without affecting my NCD. Actually windscreen insurance will not affect the car NCD value. Different thing.
*
but the problem to get the windsceen cover for almost 5k, you will need to pay 5000x15% = RM750 per year. with the value of the car now + max discount from the NCD, this rm750 is almost near to the insurance premium d..

it like a gamble...either u pay it n peace in mind or just pray hard nothing happen smile.gif

Means original spark plug can last for 160km?
*
get the info from here https://www.ngk.com/learning-center/article...dium-plugs-last

"NGK Laser Iridium plugs have iridium center and a Platinum ground electrodes. If installed in a regular engine, they would likely last longer than most people keep their car (barring any motor problems that can cause premature plug death). All Laser Iridium plugs are an OEM design, made for a specific engine. Some feature a special resistor or electrode design, depending on the OE requirements. In their OE application, NGK's Laser Iridium plugs typically last 80-100k miles."

for those no join the fb close group. here is some information i get from NGK USA on the spark plug replacement.
my question to them was is there any IX plug that i can use on honda insight beside the laser iridium. here is the reply.

"Thank you for your inquiry. DILFR6F-11G has been superseded to DILFR6J11 (stock# 92491). The Iridium IX alternative is LFR6AIX-11 (stock# 6619)."

LFR6AIX-11 can be get at 8psc RM320 from the fb seller. https://www.facebook.com/jon.soln

Half means 50K at RM320. If 150K = RM960.
Then might as well buy from Honda SC ? If not mistaken RM800+ but can last 160K. hmm.gif
*
i think it depend on your engine condition.
when the internal start to degrade, u will face others issue n might kill your plug sooner.
even though 100k miles is from NGK, but that should be under all good conditions.

Where did you hear tat??

AFAIK, there is still an alternator to charge the regular battery [in the engine bay one..] the battery recharge you mentioned is a retarder/brake recharge mechanism for the main hybrid IMA battery..
BTW, l have de Jazz hybrid
*
there is no alternator in the insight. the 12v battery is charge via the main battery.
that y is important to make sure the 12v battery is good in condition else it will drain the main battery very soon biggrin.gif

currently my car is getting "slow" to engage the gear to move from stand.

it happen like this:
when the car just start or wake up from auto stop, and the gear at D position. when u let go the brake it will take few seconds then only the car will move. if i go press the acceleration then thing will go worst, RPM will drop n the car will like going to off then in a sudden the gear is engage n move forward.
so every time, i have to manually press start the car from auto start n get ready before i want to move.

anyone encounter this?
i change my gear oil every 20k km to take care nicely the cvt gb but somehow this still happen... sad.gif

that sound so dangerous. Cannot imagine it lost power transmission while ascending the hill with cars behind you.  ohmy.gif
*
it same to the exist junction as well. when road are clear n u want to go out then find out the gear not engage and stuck there.

not sure u all encounter this or not. after many years with the car, i think all should know when the auto stop will kick in. but in some situation, u know the car will stop but it not happen. then the rpm will drop to very low point then go up again and keep on continue until u let go the brake n move forward.
