QUOTE(alxdc @ Apr 23 2014, 05:51 PM) It is not a translated write-up. Asia.Vtec.net been around since 1996 and it runs by our local guys. The interview was done in Malaysia and I'm sure the chief engineer is talking about 20k km even in Japan they use kilometer. http://asia.vtec.net/Reviews/2GInsightFull/index.htmlhttp://asia.vtec.net/start-up clutch. CVT is not latest. its old the article was wrote in 2011 the new latest Earth Dream CVT now employs the standard "torque converter". The 'start clutch' was originally located at the end of the gearbox, where the final drive is located. But here, the torque converter is placed at the usual location, just after the flywheel and operates like a regular torque converter. There is no 'start clutch' in this CVT gearbox. So, the message from the LPL is crystal clear - as there is no 'start clutch' so 'start clutch' failures will never happen with this new CVT gearbox. Answer to CVT 'Start Clutch' Failures http://tovahondafan.blogspot.com/2014/04/a...ilures-for.htmlOn checking my service record, they have actually changed the fluid at 20K !!!!!! I probably didnt pay attention My car is hardly used just touching 34k in 32 months..now.

QUOTE(n00b123 @ Apr 28 2014, 02:32 PM) I have a vague memory on this....If I have recalled correctly the reminder indication pops out during the last 500-1k on the 20k interval basis.. the reminder keeps pop out everytime when you ignite your engine and it stays there just like the "low fuel" indicator... Strange, I thot it suppose show the remaining life of the oil quality. Or maybe, I am mixing up with engine oil warning.

Please monitor the battery level when this problem starts. Due to the excessive hot weather and many Malaysian habit of pushing the car air cond to very low the battery may be draining faster. Turn off the econ mode and drive for a week and see if you have the same problem.

QUOTE(samfisher @ Mar 19 2015, 08:36 AM) hi sifus here...first of all, i do not drive honda insight but my brother-in-law does..just to ask if any sifus here had the same problem as he's facing right now.. after clocking 102000 km on odometer (2011 model iinm), his car suffer loss of engine oil rapidly...at one time the engine oil almost empty...sent to honda sc for repair...honda said warranty cover for 100000 km had exceeded..so, the repair must be borne by owner of the car.. after a long negotiation, honda sc agree to bear half the cost...he still have to fork out around RM 2k...the repair was done and i thought the problem settle.. but last week the problem became worse...engine oil have spilt all over his car engine...sent to honda sc again..and they quote around RM 8k to repair it..now he really piss off.. had any owner of honda insight here facing this problem?... Engine old wont disappear just like that. Did SC tell why and what was damaged?

QUOTE(n00b123 @ Mar 19 2015, 03:25 PM) Until today, the service interval allowed by Kah Motor Puchong SC is only 5k regardless of the type of engine oil being used... tried asking the service advisors to go for 10k interval but it was not allowed... I am using 10K and dared them to void my warranty.

QUOTE(kerelbort @ Sep 18 2015, 05:55 PM) check back with your mechanics, once u used fully, u can't go semi.. campur campur viscosity could cause gasket burn leading to oil leak. car above 100k, should be better using fully syn... since older car means efficiency degradation, unless u rajin do torque overhaul after 100k which is not necessary. Speaking from experience of having a 18 years old proton. The only damage happened to my car were the piston rings due to natural wear and tear. Always used the standard oil of Shell Helix. For Insight just stick to standard as our temperature doesnt vary very much. This post has been edited by STC: Sep 21 2015, 11:46 AM

Just myth. I suffered no whatsoever damage in all my previous cars. I think Castrol FAQ gives the best explanation
"If I go to a synthetic do I have to stay with a synthetic oil?
All of Castrol's oils are fully compatible with one another, and there is no cause for concern if you choose to switch from conventional to synthetic or vice versa. Because of this, it is not necessary to flush the engine. It is a common myth that you cannot go back to conventional motor oil after using synthetic.
Even if you've switched to premium synthetic motor oil like Castrol Syntec, you can always go back to conventional oil, but why would you want to? Consider Castrol Syntec Full-Synthetic motor oil a "super lubricant," as it seeks out and neutralizes harmful particles in your engine, fights sludge on vital engine parts, neutralizes acids in your engine, and is fully compatible with conventional motor oil. For example, Castrol Syntec actually engulfs particles preventing them from grouping together and forming engine sludge. Synthetic motor oils deliver superior engine protection versus conventional oils, and once you try it, while you can go back, we doubt you'll want to."

Maybe you should pursue this matter further by making a complaint to Ministry of consumer affairs. This is indeed a rip off.

Honda confirmed that the recall will be in batches. Mine will be somewhere in November and only the driver seat airbag affected. They will send a letter and use the letter to go to any authorized dealers to change the airbag.

QUOTE(iphone @ Nov 3 2015, 11:01 PM) Ya I try to do a super flush. Wondering how many liter of coolant to get. According to Honda Central :- Engine Coolant Capacities [Including the reservoir capacity of 0.36 L (0.10 US gal)] At Coolant Change: 2000-2003 models: 2.5 L (0.66 US gal) 2004-2006 models: 2.3 L (0.61 US gal). I guess, buy 3 litre will do.

I just used the standard mineral to see the difference. Engine is definitely tighter and quieter. Unfortunately, the mileage dropped about 30 to 40km for every full tank.
Will change to fully syn next service. I did use the special hybrid engine oil before but found that the engine was noisier and changed back to semi after 3000km. I think it gave me the best mileage.
Btw, I have received the letter for airbag replacement.

QUOTE(westlife @ Nov 20 2015, 04:36 AM) yes, all the external factors does matter to the consumption too. but 14km+/litre throughout my almost 5 years drive are the most common fuel consumption if city drive and i think it is pretty much same as most of us here too. Enduring the horrible MRR2 and Jln Ampang jam daily. I average 17 to 18km/l. Outstation with speed not exceeding 90 could easily reach 23km/l. Usually. at about 110 to 140 I still touch about 20km/l. Now, experimenting with the standard mineral engine oil, the city driving did not make much difference but outstation trips drops to 18km/l at 110 to 150 kmh. Since I am just checking the ideal oil for daily KL jammed driving, I think that shouldnt count.

QUOTE(westlife @ Nov 23 2015, 09:20 AM) to be frank, that time when i bought my insight in feb 2011. i did not consider the petrol saving as the buying factor even it is a hybrid. The only consideration factors are that they are of free gov tax (significant savings) + I like the look of insight that day. Be patient. Next month petrol going up to RM2.30 with no subsidy.
