Bro, which DNS are you using? What is the error message shown on your screen? If you have test account just pm me all the detail, let me help you to test.

P/S: ask for test account from the reseller before subscript. Some reseller not really know how to operate in Android or given the wrong DNS.

Couple of queries, have the Q5II with the build number HMD-1.0.2 2013-09-07.153431.

1) Tried installing XBMC from the link someone provided earlier, but after install it says "unfortunately XBMC has stopped" and  cannot fire up.

    xbmc-frodo-12.1-xaf-teg2-touch-20130503-8d75a5c004.apk

Or are we supposed to download from the page below, which one should we be downloading?

    http://www.xbmchub.com/blog/2013/05/04/bri...ase-of-the-xaf-  custom-build-must-have/

2) I don't have Google Playstore inside the "My Apps".... anyone has idea how to install?

3) Tried downloading the Q5II firmware upgrade from the link below and put into root of thumbdrive, but at System Upgrade it only shows as "D" drive, there is no "sda" or "sdb"?

Hello Bro, i believe you bought the China version of Q5II, this is for China market does not come with Google Play because China banned Google. As per Himedia info, China version cannot flash with Oversea firmware. But you can try your self to flash with English firmware version. The firmware could be download from the link I shared at the beginning of this thread.

D drive or E drive just drive letter representative, goto file manager to check if you thumbdrive is D drive. sda, sdb is the android technical drive path where drive D actually link to it.

Would be appreciated if you could share where you bought your Q5II such that other buyer would not encounter the problem as you have. Please do not get me wrong, we are always encourage sharing of information such that all will benefit from it.

My thumbdrive is D, verified using File Explorer.

The issue is after putting the "update_dualcore_Q5_en.zip" into my thumbdrive root, and clicking on D during System upgrade, it just shows "No upgrade package". But I am still on 1.0.2, wondering why I cannot trigger the firmware upgrade, tried the safety pin also cannot.

Thanks a lot Nicety and Lighter for your comments, yes my set is from China. I thought all Q5II are from China? You mean there are Msian Himedia?

There is no Malaysian version firmware, either China or English(Himedia call it oversea version).

Since Lighther tested 103 and able to switch between China and English, why not you upgrade you China version firmware to 103 first then only switch to English version 103. That mean two step upgrade.

No need to do that. You can straight flash it to either China or English version.

If you are currently on English firmware, you need to rename your Chinese firmware zip file name exactly as "update_dualcore_Q5_en.zip". This will allow you to flash it.

Vice versa if you are currently on Chinese firmware. You will need to rename you English firmware to "update_dualcore_Q5.zip" This will allow you to cross flash between diff type.

Keep in mind I have only tested this for the 1.0.3 version. I have no idea what will happen if you flash between diff version.

As usual, I am not responsible if anyone brick their device. I just telling my own experience.

For download, try to use a download program that can do multiple mirror download. For the china firmware, 1 link only support about 20-30kbps as far as i can see. But combine of 4 stream at once I got about 100+ kbps easy on my 1Mbps line. Maybe more for you since you are unifi.

For english firmware speed its not a problem, as far as i can see.

Nicety, Lighter,

That trick of renaming the update file between English ("_en") and Chinese (without "_en") worked like a charm, how did you guys know? Apparently my original firmware must have been Chinese, hence after removing the "_en" I could click on "D" and upgrade from there!

After upgrading to 1.0.3, there is Google Playstore indeed, and I installed MX Player and the ARM V7 codec. However when try to install the downloaded XBMC apk below, I am unable to fire it up; the error says "Unfortunately, XBMC has stopped". Need help again.

xbmc-frodo-12.1-xaf-teg2-touch-20130503-8d75a5c004.apk

Pls find below my answer :

1). You may follow method share from Lighter.

2). Download R12.2 from the link http://xbmc.org/download/. The stability of the xBMC is independent of MX player. Sportdevils is in the xBMC addon.

3). MX Player has the option to choose subtitle and customize the subtitle. I do not really understand ur question, what do you mean no subtitle?

But now seems cannot fire up any movies in XBMC after copying the .xml file there... Using MX player free version, with the "ARMv7" codec....something wrong with my MX player installation you think?

Actually I pasted the xml file in this directory:

/sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata/
