Please find below Himedia English Web site to download the firmware.
http://www.himediatech.com/list_8.html

Pls do not unzip the downloded file, just save into Pendrive root directory. Then goto Setting -> Upgrade and choose the drive you store the firmware zip file. Your Q5 will reboot and went into Green Robot screen.

Thanks Bro.

Which mode is relatively safer: the above one or recovery mode?

The above one is safer and easier, basically used for upgrade.

Recovery mode only suitable when the hardware unable to boot.

I am in the midst of setting up the Q5.

After updating to latest firmware, I am getting 5 icons (apps manager, my favorites, browser, file manager and set up).

Android and its apps are working fine.

But what about the audio, movies, pictures and other programs of Q5 which are are not part of android system? How can I access them? Right now I only see android apps. What about himedia own apps to access video/music/photos?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Bro, if you use Himedia Launcher, just goto Apps Manager, there are icons for Video Player, Music, Gallery, Live TV and etc.

First of all, please do not confused between App Store and Google Play Store as I explained in topic #556.
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2598907/+555

To access Goolge Play Store, please always goto Application -> My Apps -> Play Store

P/S : App Store in Q5II is just wrong English translation from Chinese. In Android world there is no Apps Store. Apps Store is the term used in Apple world.

Please check your LETV Store version, the original Q5II come with version 1.2.4, if you upgrade LETV Store to version 2 or higher, then the link will be broken. Whenever you click the App Store, no response. The solution is to restore back the version 1.2.4.

Info to share :
Why there are many Android application stores developed in China ?
Because in China, Google was banned. There is no chance for the Android user to download from Google Play Store, therefore China develop local store to keep all the Android Apps.
In fact, Malaysia users do not need those China application store unless you need certain China App which not available in Google Play Store.

Himedia Launcher is set by default in Q5, no setting required unless you disable it manually. Please take the photo of your Q5 home screen and Apps Manager screen, PM to me. Let me help you to verify.

I have not manually disabled the Himedia Launcher. It is showing under the apps section of android setting.

I also got a message on the home screen: The Himedia Launcher is not responding. Would you like to close it - Wait ?OK.

I would prefer Himedia launcher.

I need Android and Himedia apps (non-android).

Now the wifi is also not working.

What options do I have? Shall I need to reset it? If yes, kindly advise how.

Bro, since your Wifi does not work, I would advise you go back to the seller that you bought the Q5.

I did the reset.

Now wifi is working and other apps are also working.

But Goggle Play is not working. When I open it, the message says "Connection Timed Out".

Please advise.

Please find below my answer :

1). Change the Himedia launcher to Android native launcher then you can see the Media Player icon. Q5II Himedia launcher hide the media player and music player.

2). As mentioned earlier, to solve your problem change the xBMC internal player to MX Player.

3). The special is the native player functionality you could not find in other player.
P/S : The build-in media player is not Android native player but Himedia developed apps. Himedia has been in traditional media player market for some time, they have their owned developed apps.

Thanks for your answer.

But I believe that it's not possible to open Himedia stock player in this box even I used another launcher.
Or .. you can tell me which one is the real native launcher ? may be i'm wrong cos now I can find just only 2.

Thanks for your tut about remote control. very helpful.
