Hello nicety and forumers here:

Thanks to nicety for the quick despatch of my order, received today my q6ii and now learning to use it.

now if you may please guide me the setting up steps like firmware upgrade or installation of required apps for better watching experience.

err, how do i check the firmware, is it in the settings>device info>build no? if it's correct then mine is showing HMD-1.0.4 does it has any latest than this?

and if anyone can help me best streaming apps to watch football, that would be great!

thanks.
*
Thank you for acknowledge receipt bro. 1.0.4 is the latest firmware for Q6II, however 1.0.5 will be released soon to fix the YouTube app problem. For the time being, please use browser to watch YouTube.

Please find below step by step firmware upgrade
1. First of all, download the firmware file.
2. Copy the file into USB disk , ROOT directly. ( don’t change the filename)
3. Remove all other USB and HDD device from Q device, keep only the USB disk with the firmware file.
4. Press and hold the button in the RESTORE hole, then power on your Q5 ( release the RESTORE button after 5 sec)
5. The box will enter into Recovery mode, then start to upgrade. You should see the greenrobot and the upgrade progress bar.
6. Wait for the upgrade finished and the box will reboot

P/S : Remember to copy the backup APK out before update the new firmware such that you can reinstall the app again after upgrade.

Thank you bro, this is good question. I found the below video to enable the subtitle for XBMC. I have tested it works perfectly in Q5II.

Or you can refer to below link :

Bro, my suggestion is to use Himedia Native player when you stream local media files.

For online streaming via xBMC, I would suggest use xBMC player such that the subtitle could be automated.

However, as I mentioned earlier, I have preinstalled the XML files in your box, you could switch between the player by renaming the files

I presumed you are using flat network and no routing in your house network. The WIFI AP is the Switch and also Internet router.

If the above assumption is correct then the problem seems like physical layer of the network, do you have any alternative LAN switches to verify this?

If you use static ip, you can try to traceroute/ping from your PC to Q5.

Hmm.. can't quite get it..

The TV Box is connected directly to my Unifi router. I've even tried a factory reset but still can't work.

Oh, I saw one of ur post about firmware 1.1.5 for Q5. Do u have a copy? I can't get it online.

To adjust the subtitle, press the Menu button on Himedia Remote control then you see the option menu appear, click subtitle in the menu option then you can see various setting of subtitle.

Yes, you can open movies from external hard disk, first add in the external HDD as the media directory from setting.

However, it is advisable to use Himedia player to play movies instead of MX Player because Himedia Player more stable and support various audio/video media files as per mentioned in the thread.

I tried it bro and it works...thanks for the help.

Using Q5II on XBMC, with the Istream installer.

One issue I had was that the movies (be it from Mash-up or any other add-on) constantly crashes to that scrolling desktop, so far I still haven't found a solution yet. From the crash I can usually replay the movie again, but then have to use the horizontal slider to find where I crashed out from.

Anyone has similar experience or know the solution?

Is there like a place to clear all the previously watched movies/streams, assumed that they are cached somewhere?

Bro, which XBMC version are you using? I am currently testing 12.3 just released before the new year. So far the test result are positive, the crash issue in 12.2 suppose to be resolved.

Nicety,

As always thanks for the fantastic tips!
Yes I was running Frodo 12.2, just upgraded to 12.3.
So far it has been running buttery smooth without any kick-outs anymore.

Hopefully they come out with some way to upgrade XBMC via Playstore, so that don't have to use PC to download then transfer over to Q5II using thumbdrive to install.

Regarding that part on clearing cache, so far I have been using Xunity Maintenanace's DELETE CACHE, if I am doing it wrong pls share the right method!

I do not sure the Delete Cache will help, I presumed XBMC will auto cleaning. Pls share if you discover DELETE CACHE really help in term of speed or saving space.

As usual, we encourage more Q series buyers not just obtain info here but share it out when you discover new stuff related to Q5II/Q6II/Q10II and etc.

And don't forget to share with your friends about our service.

Thank you for inquiry, just pmed to you.
Regarding smart 3D or passive 3D, it is depend on your 3D TV not the player. The player can support both active and passive 3D TV.
