It's hard to get reviews for a phone like this, since there are no reviews for the phone. Droidsage and I are currently discussing about a Mi501 review, so stay tuned.

Thx Cranky, wish i could get the phone right now... tongue.gif

Guys, just an update to Earpiece issue.

I have done test using four of my earphones.

1. CSL OEM Earpiece (Comes in the package with this phone)
user posted image

2. Samsung OEM Earpiece (Comes with Samsung mobile)

3. UrBeats by Dr. Dre (Comes with HTC Sensation XE)

4. Audio Technica ATH-CKP300 Sport Fit Earbuds
user posted image

With CSL Mi501 earphone, there would be no issue at all. Talking, listening to music, etc is just nice and it is functional. But of course the sound quality is just so-so. On the other hand for, Samsung and Urbeats Earphone, they failed to function although they are the same 3.5mm headphone jack. They have fast forward, play button and microphone for hands-free calling.

For Audio Technica, which is a normal earphone (without buttons & microphone) is functioning without any problems.

Its mean that for hands-free, you can only use the CSL earphone?
For listening to music, I think there is no problem if you want to get a decent earphone later on.
The issue here is just for a earpiece with hands-free functional

And I am glad to share with all of you how to wrap your earphone without tangled up

Mi501 has better signal because Snapdragon S4 proc. MTK6577 has terrible signal. As for watching videos, BP 2 is better because smaller screen = better ppi.

Yeah, I agree. Most of the phones there are cheap phones anyway. Huawei G600 and 9tology Stealth 2 aren't there too.

Based on benchmarks, the NEO NO2-M isn't as powerful as Ninetology Stealth 2, and Mercury is more powerful than Stealth 2, so NEO NO2-M is almost no match for the Mercury.

Make sure your Mercury comes with TWO FREE screen protectors. Also, make sure that your LED buttons are back lit.

You mean the button at the bottom of the phone? Is the whole batch of phone have issue with that?

Hmm... Brought this phone a week ago with price tag RM660 with the case(two week pass by and now still waiting my case come down from kl). Actually the newbie selling me at RM650 with the case and 16gb mmc included, but the other higher rank promoter saw it than offer me with RM660, okey la, i accept it.

Design
The whole design is acceptable except the stupid white colour power and volume keys. mad.gif

Hardware
The screen is okey, but under the sunlight it will be very hard to see.
I installed and try some launcher, some seen okey but some like MiHome launcher make the phone lag a bit, 512mb ram is really not enough.
Touch is not quite sensitive in the phone but once you got the feel you can run it smooth. Example, when unlocking the phone, i slice to the unlock icon but sometime it will jump to the camera icon. And another example, when typing, i type a but sometime it will become q, is same to all the alphabet, maybe missalined. Any user having this problem too?
Some more the sensor, when playing temple run, it seen to not center, me hand need to bend a bit, i try to setting it back but still the same, i went back to ask the shop, they said need to send back to csl which cause more than 1 week. Nvm la, i just use the phone and not for gaming.

Dual sim
Its great, the main factor that let me consider to buy this phone. But, when using sim 2 to call out, it seen to be like delay 8 second to 10 second before the phone make the call. Anyone facing this problem?

Battery and signal
This impress me a lot, the battery can last more than a day for average use to me. And for the signal, it strong like the nokia~ rclxms.gif

Camera
Dint use it as i have my Canon and Lumia 800 with me,the picture very sharp, but the colour seen not saturated.

Overall
This is my 1st CSL phone, and it did a very good job. somemore it just a RM660 phone, is a very great budget dual sim phone. thumbup.gif

I am a proud owner of the Mercury. Everything is great EXCEPT the part where you go into CONTACTS. I tried navigating through my contacts and the screen is like "stuck" a bit then only move. I occasionally click on the contacts I don't want to search for. Anyone else who has this issue or I am alone?

So far dont have this problem with me... tongue.gif

Actually i do have problem with keyboard like you. Sometime when compared to my wife samsung galxy mini, its feels more accurate to type in the mini. But now seems ok. Maybe just need time to adjust my finger.

I also got the lag before the call window appear (asking call to be made from which simcard) but that dosnt bother me too much.
*
Than the keyboard i think is same problem for all the Mercury... hope it could be solve via the update to JB tongue.gif

Actually, when I started using my JiaYu G3, I missed the keyboard problem on Mercury. It just seemed to stick to me after I got used to using it. Plus, I really love Mercury's version of TouchPal.
