Though I am too young to know what watch is that, that's an old watch I can tell, looks dated.  sweat.gif

The Seiko SKJ006P1 is not that old. It's sweet 17. biggrin.gif Production: July, 1995. Bought it in 1996. Too bad the bezel is discontinued. The Sapphlex crystal anti reflection properties is amazing though. Too bad Seiko stopped making them. sad.gif

The scratches aren't noticeable when wearing the watch but it is now serving as my desktop table watch. Every day I have to shake it to maintain the Kinetic Storage Unit (battery) fully charged (6 months on full charge). On day, I'll send it to a professional restorer to have the bezel and watch case restored. If you look at the second hand, there is a tiny cloth fiber sticking on it. It was there after it was sent to Thong Sia for complete overhaul last year. That aside, I think they did a pretty good job of servicing the watch.

I am not a watch collector though, got the seiko premier I mentioned and a Maurice Lacroix only

You should get at least half a dozen.... One can never have enough Seikos.

The case is probably genuine.
Notice at the gap at the day date window. It's misaligned. Dunno what movement inside also.
Mismatched hands and color.
Dial has no seiko no.

Skip it.

How much would I pay?
Give free also I refuse to take. biggrin.gif

I'll prefer getting a few Seikos from the Prospex and Mechanical line up rather than spending it all on a single GS. Have not bought Swiss Made for a very long time. tongue.gif

Easy. Call Seiko Taiwan Sales Dept. and inquire if they can assist getting one for you. While it may be possible to get outside the official channel (unauthorized dealers), it won't be covered under official warranty. laugh.gif

Come across this great review on Orient Star, anyone here likes the brand?
http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/orient-st...ics-615748.html

The new 40p50 or 40p51 is both hacking and winding, 2 complication - GMT and pwr res.

I like Orient. An independent watch company owned by Seiko Epson that is operated independently from Seiko Holdings Corp. that uses and owns the design and manufacture of the movements in their watches. (i.e No relationship to Seiko watches except some common shareholders). An OT discussion IMO in a Seiko thread.... Anyway.....

I prefer WZ0041DJ. I'm not so keen on the power reserve indicator function though. Last time I checked the RRP is RM2700 and the discount I was offered is attractive. So far I have yet to pull the trigger because I'm looking to get more Seikos from my wishlist...

U were getting what kind if discount? It's rather common to find 30% below is higher. This is at ~40%

Thanks for the link. It will make good price reference in the future.
I've been offered Seiko and Orient Star watches more than 40% without even asking but if I don't like it or have other priority target to get, I'll politely decline. No point in getting a bargain on a watch that I don't really want because I don't have infinite $$$ in my account. laugh.gif

I'm disappointed with the lack of a SKX007 successor.
*
There are a few variants over the years if you go by the model numbers using 7S26-0020 cases. While some are discontinued a few are still in production...
Can be considered as successors?

Collector's Guide To All the seiko 7S26-0020/9 Diver Variants

None can't match the success of the original SKX007 & SKX009 though.

Cheer up. While waiting for the successor, there's plenty of Seiko models to bring home...

Wow.. that case looks beautiful. The 1960's, 1970's really is the golden years for Seiko lah. So many nice watch from that period.
Now all you need is a SNZG and a SRP (though I think it looks like GI Joe and Lady Gaga's lovechild) to make it complete.
*
Nice suggestion. moneyflies.gif cry.gif
As soon as I find an a particular SNZG. This SRP does not look that bad....

is it true that not all Seiko watches can change to leather strap?

cos currently I'm having a Seiko watch with bracelet.

I want to change to leather strap but so far all the shops I've been they say my model can't change.
*
Depends on the lugs. Can't comment further due to lack of info.

So can the strap be changed?
*
I'm afraid not. The lug width is too narrow. Of course it is possible to cut the strap to fit the lugs, but it will be too weak to support the watch.

I found this really rare NOS Seiko - what I believe to be a Seiko Olympic Perpetual Calendar with 6M13 inside. Model 6M13-7010. According to the production calculator, made in July 1993.

I always wanted a Seiko Age of Discovery... I guess this will do too.

Bracelet was tarnished beyond redemption... but it looks handsome on leather. The shop has recently serviced the watch. Thanks for looking!

Very nice find. IINM, the model for this watch is SHE024J1.

If you find yourself in Bkt Bintang area and have some free time, pay a visit to Thong Sia SC @ Central Plaza. Give them the model no. that I provided. They have a database with pictures complete with replacement parts status.

Should I buy this? Or should I just take the watch to kedai for changing crystal?

(I'm ordering sapphire crystal from yobokies)
*
You can get that locally here.
TAI SANG WATCH DEALER
No. G-4 Kompleks Selangor
Jalan Sultan, KL

If you want to go DIY, it is handy having an extra piece of crystal gasket. If the first is damaged during installation, you have another to use. Without having a wet pressure testing machine, you won't know whether the seal is good.
Might as well send it to a watch repair shop that have the necessary tools to get the job done.
