I'm totally confused.

As I know, Seiko 5 is on the bottom of the mechanical food chain.. and now its upgraded to more expensive 4R36... 7S36 discontinued.

But 7s26 continues in production? For what model? Everything else also move to 4RXX already wat. Or they making another mechanical line below Seiko 5. Or for Alba etc?
*
Not 7S26 but 7S36.
My source tells me that certain variants of 7S36 movement is still in production though it could change 6 months down the line. I dunno what is Seiko planning for the future. For new emerging markets? We will have to wait and see.

BTW Regarding the SKX007 NH36A mod that I posted earlier, I forgot to add that you need to change the day wheel too, else it wont align properly.

Spent an hour at Pertama Complex...

Spotted :

- 7s26 Monsters black and orange on bracelet and rubber, SKX007 on Jubilee and SKX009 on Rubber
- 7s36 Black and White stargate, Silver Starfish with black bezel
- 4R15 100m Spork
- Seiko Sawtooth black
- Orient Sub NOS

Theres one 40th Aniversary Seiko 5 Titanium Diver 7s36 but shop is asking too high for it sweat.gif

This concludes my report smile.gif

There are 4 stores selling Seiko watches right? 3 on the upper level near the main entrance from Jalan TAR and 1 somewhere in the middle of the grd floor or 1st floor. Just asking just in case I happen to be there and missed a store.

Was hunting for a watch last month. Didn't really plan to get an SRP043K2. biggrin.gif

Maybe for the other seiko brands ... Alba... jsprings etc?

Naw...won't be modding the 007. Keeping it as it is.... even the jubilee even though I got a super oyster sitting around. It matches the watch so nicely.
Thanks for the recce smile.gif
*
Possibly. I see new models for Cal Y676 aka 7S26 on J-Springs website..... laugh.gif
I hope Seiko's upcoming line up will include 7S36 for orang tua like yours truly.

After seeing your SKX007 and examined one in a store now I want 2. doh.gif One for modding and one for collection. Maybe later this year.

PS. Just a suggestion, get an SKX013K2 for your missus as a CNY gift... thumbup.gif

Movement transplant?
ps: The missus is not a fan of rattly bracelets. laugh.gif

In planning and doing research, and maybe a subtle mod to make it slightly different from the original but looks authentic.
I have an ongoing Seiko project since last year. Parts purchased, collected and ready for assembly. In the end, I have to postpone and find more parts, since I grew to like the original watch and don't want to butcher it up. doh.gif Some of the parts took a long excruciating 7 months waiting period.
Will take some time to get it done, have a few others planned and need a lot of patience and self control.

Not a big issue concerning rattly bracelets. Get an SKX013K1 or use Tungchoy's or Wjean's solid 20mm metal ones. brows.gif

BTW I heard that Seiko is going to use a new version of 7S26 but with 24 jewels instead of the current 21. Most likely a 4R36 without hand winding and stop seconds function.

The MM300 looks better on your wrist than the Sumo.
CNY boutique still open? When did you go visit?

Hey, kinda disappointed with Seiko's quality after my mom showed me her watch. It seems like the dial came off/lose? Anyone knows how much to fix it up? Picture as attached. Thanks.  sad.gif
*
Pretty beat up SMYG35K1.
If the dial holder or dial needs replacement less than RM100 at Thong Sia SC.

There's a gazillion reviews on the web. Google Seiko SNZG or Seiko Big Military

It's a Seiko and a Seiko 5 Is listed as a Pro and a Con. Is that a typo? laugh.gif Or can you elaborate further?

That's slightly over 7 inches. Mine is longer @ 7.5" wink.gif tongue.gif
I don't think 36mm looks small on my wrist. IMO it looks proportional and practical for daily use.

I prefer metal bracelets. If you search my posts in this thread, you'll find the pics.

Here's one.

36mm is just right, proportional and aesthetically pleasing IMO.

Golden Ratio (φ) = 1.62

My wrist diameter = 58mm
Watch diameter = 36mm
58/36 = 1.61

Sure, I own bigger watches but for daily and practical use 36mm is the best.

The acceptable range for most male wrists is 36 to 40 millimeters, and there’s no excuse for buying larger unless you’re a sumo wrestler.

I thought of buy this watch before. But some of my frens say this watch is too small, not suitable for men  shakehead.gif
Is the strap width is 18mm? If i buy think watch i think i'll change the strap
*
Your friends are entitled to their opinions. I'm not the fashion police. wink.gif
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Yes, the watch lug width is 18mm and obviously you need to get 18mm straps.

I've been wearing mine daily for one year now without issues nor problems. Accuracy is +2 seconds day.
The water resistance is good and I've been washing the watch daily with soap and water every night for the past year.
So far I have received compliments and nobody made remarks implying that the watch is too small for my wrist. laugh.gif

I think the thing that "kacau" the most is the Orient crest logo and the cursive "water resist" on the dial. It's sorta throws the theme off.

We interrupt the regular program with the following message....
Not commenting about you nor the reflex action replies that follows but the biggest "kacau" of them all is some don't comprehend the title of this thread very well. wink.gif Once is understandable, but a few times?? rclxub.gif doh.gif

Now we return to the regular program...

Ok la ok la, maybe next week I'll go and get a Seiko with a leather strap. sweat.gif
Frankly, I have never owned a watch with a leather strap before. Thinking of getting one for collection.

How does one take care of the strap? UTSE there are many products out there but what can I use that is readily available locally?

Nice 2012 model watch. Can PM the price? So how is the Kinetic Direct Drive battery charging like? And how long does the battery charge last before needing recharging? I'm thinking of adding a Kinetic DD into my collection.

The watch has been though a lot of wear in 2 decades. Can you remember how many strap, battery changes and servicing did you do? Finally, what's the caseback no for your Seiko?

Going to try to get this restored... my dad's old watch which he oddly sent for service the day before I was born  rclxub.gif
Its working (came straight to life after a couple shakes despite sitting in the drawer for 30 years) but crown abit stiff and needs a new crystal.
Any ideas how to start? Noob here.
Nice Sportsmatic. The movement looks in great condition.
You mean restore the watch yourself?
