I think will effect it but you no need remove it,just don't block the port on your ZA then everything will be fine.

Good luck.

i dont know abt BT..but im very sure zonealarm blocks Limewire.. cry.gif ...
when i tried using in Office...via LAN connection..under program control./firewall settings...the application has been set to enable it..but I wonder why it 's still blocking it!!! arrghgh... vmad.gif any idea or solution anyone?
But when i use Limewire at home with a dialup modem..while Zonealarm is running, there's no firewall blockage...

can anybody explain why and what causes it? If there is any solution to this?

Thankss alot.

Sygate Personal Firewall Pro...doesn't have any more updates..upgrades..that sad sad.gif ...since Sygate's pfp is the best firewall around...

ZoneAlarm?..yeah..nice...but sometime cause trouble :ie..can't browse network neighbourhood...
Norton = thanks to them..my pc got worms...
McAfee = firewall... need more improvement
Pc-cillin = firewall...not good...

Did anyone heard about tiny personal firewall...anyone got try it?

yup... Sygate was the best software firewall, really sad they got bought over by Symantec which IMHO makes resource hungry softwares.

hie guys,

i have this problem here where when i use limewire and ares P2P software, i get a notification sometimes from those softwares that my PC is behind some sort of firewire which is preventing those apps from connecting to their respective servers.... cry.gif  cry.gif

the thing is that im not using any sort of firewall at all....im using dlink DSL-500T router modem on streamyx RM66 package and using NAV2005 as antivirus app sweat.gif ...i've checked my router and have disabled the DMZ and firewall from there as well as WinXP's built in firewall but the problem remains too...disabling the NAV also no difference lor... mad.gif

i think this might be the source of the slowdown BT and P2P downloads for my PC but im not sure either so its worth looking into it wink.gif ....please offer any advice or help on how to check if my PC is behind any other sort of firewall... notworthy.gif

BTW, not using any 3rd party FW software.... thumbup.gif

Hmm I must say u have done pretty well and thorough checkthru to break down all the firewalling stuffs blockages already! and I really do understand ur frustration as well!!! sweat.gif
Have u so far tried port forwarding in ur router to recqonise this application and also in ur NAV sw?? there are some useful and informative resources contributed by some seniors here and I must say its really GOOD and informative for me! thumbup.gif
If u have not, here --> http://www.portforward.com/help/portforwarding.htm

Please let me know too if u have manage to settle this problem! Thanks. rclxms.gif

holy shit! i read your post and tried to disable ZA and it's the culprit!!~ i play Dota and i lag every 10 seconds or so, it's almost impossible to play!~ after i disabled it, no more problems... this seems to be proof that ZA distrupts the connection, at least latency is affected la~ confirm!~ now lets discuss alternatives~

p.s. : zone alarm is damn good a firewall due to it's powerful nature but then, i haven't tried others...
