QUOTE(Ryo @ Mar 9 2006, 10:50 AM) anyone ever experience not being able to connect to the internet with zone alarm? happens to me a lot. esecially when i left the connection idle for several hours Check if ZoneAlarm has internet lock on. The lock icon is located at the upper right. As I remember ZoneAlarm Pro have an option to lock the internet if it detects suspicious activities.I am using ZoneAlarm Security Suite by the way and yes its not resource hungry as Nortons. From my experience ZoneAlarm Pro don't work well with Norton Antivirus. ZoneAlarm Pro + Norton Antivirus = Slow load time and sometimes ZA don't even load or Norton is disable. IMHO every firewall are the same. The only difference or the weak link is us humans. E. g faulty configuration, allowing or approving suspicious applications. use some router with SPI or NAT advanced Technologies ! like netgear stuff...
True Firewall (SPI) advanced security provides maximum protection from professional hackers. URL blocking and e-mail alerts provide parents with controls to limit access to inappropriate web sites and monitor children's access. A true firewall secures your network against hackers: Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and Denial of Service (DoS) attack prevention averts potential threats by scanning incoming traffic and Network Address translation (NAT) shields your networked devices from intruders. Powerful WEP encryption (40/64- or 128-bit) on the wireless LAN conceals your information from eavesdroppers. MAC Address Control prevents unauthorized access to your wireless network. VPN pass-through give secure Internet access to your office or corporate network. For examples: http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WGR614.php |

hie guys,
i have this problem here where when i use limewire and ares P2P software, i get a notification sometimes from those softwares that my PC is behind some sort of firewire which is preventing those apps from connecting to their respective servers.... the thing is that im not using any sort of firewall at all....im using dlink DSL-500T router modem on streamyx RM66 package and using NAV2005 as antivirus app i think this might be the source of the slowdown BT and P2P downloads for my PC but im not sure either so its worth looking into it BTW, not using any 3rd party FW software.... |
