I really should explore the rest of Lowyat forum more...didn't realize there is a Jpop fan thread here.

Big Jpop fan here. List of artists I like is ridiculously long, but we'll start with IkimonoGakari, Perfume, BabyMetal, Nishino Kana, and miwa. At least they're the artists I seem to be listening to the most right now but it changes over time.

I'm also something of an idol fan...I follow AKB48 and Hello Project, just for fun. tongue.gif

My haul from my recent Tokyo trip. The Tower Records in Shibuya is absolute heaven for Jpop lovers. It's got 7 floors including a cafe where you can read and stuffs. Each floor is dedicated to certain genre. First floor is where all the recent releases are. Me and my friend went about 4 times in total laugh.gif

Morning Musume '14 - 14 Shou~ The message [Limited A] digipak album + booklet (cool photos inside of each member)
Asian Kungfu Generation - 10th Anniversary live DVD
Kimura Kaela - 10 Years [best album]
Chatmonchy - Kokoro to Atama [single]
DIVA - DISCOVERY [Limited A single] - a present from a Japanese friend

The first week I was there, Momusu's album was released so I got to see lots of billboards at various stations and of course, Shibuya crossing as well. It was great but too bad I didn't go to the release event at Sunshine City even though I could since I stayed at Ikebukuro, which was near. But I was too tired and since my friend isn't a H!P fan, I'm not keen to go alone at night plus I'm not very familiar with the place yet. But I've made up my mind to attend their concert next year if possible. I kinda regret not attending Sayumi's graduation concert this 26th Nov.

Anyways, Japan is a country I wouldn't mind going back every year.

^ I wish I can take a picture of my whole collection but half of it is currently in my hometown and some with me now. Since I'm not collecting figures anymore, I'm focusing on Jpop now.

Okay long post ahead, I need to get this out somewhere sad.gif

Last night I watched the live stream for Sayumi Michishige's graduation concert. I can't believe she's no longer a Momusu sad.gif Over the past two years since I actively followed this group, I've seen her leadership and how she pulled them up from the ground and rise again to fame. She's never my favorite member but I really respect her for preserving her idol image clean of scandals and being such a great leader. I mean, 12 years is truly a damn long time. Yokohama Arena was a good choice for her graduation venue by the way. 12, 000 fans and sea of pink glowed so brightly for her. She deserved it.

Speaking of which, how many idols actually hurt her own foot during their graduation lol... She got a sudden cramp in the middle of the show, specifically around the end of Renai Hunter performance (during Medley) and had to stay behind at the main stage as the rest continued without her at the Center stage. But she stayed throughout the entire performance. Just a few blackouts (I think 2-3 times) because she couldn't stand the pain and crouched to fix her leg. I think the girls are so professional because the dance formation still looked perfect and like nothing was amiss, except for us fans who know. The Medley was my favorite, it was probably the longest they've ever performed, amazing stamina ohmy.gif thumbup.gif

I felt a bit empty inside this morning. This 10 member lineup is my favorite. So when I saw the remaining 9 members I died a little inside. But I'm also looking forward to 2015, with the new members. Formation for 13 people might be a bit tough. But I believe they can do it. Seriously though, honestly, I think the 9/10/11th gen really improved a LOT in terms of live performances. They're nothing short of amazing. They really gave their all last night, you can sense the enormous amount of intense energy. I can't wait for the DVD. I might just get the blu-ray this time. Afterall, it's been a while since they got to perform at such a huge venue like Yokohama Arena.

THIS IS GOOD

Also, SCANDAL just released their 6th studio album, HELLO WORLD which features the members writing and composing their own music. Each member has a song they composed by themselves and sang. I just listened to it once, although my first impression is that I prefer their STANDARD album (previous album), I'm really glad they are very involved in the process of this album more than ever. It's a huge step and I like this direction. So I hope they compose more in the future. So far, I can say that MAMI and RINA definitely have a knack for composing.

Speaking of which, gonna share some Momusu tracks from their new album 14 Shou~ The Message, which I feel is the best album in a while and imo, it's solid. Tsunku really put in some effort on this.

Sharing some recent releases around the JPOP world.

C-ute's latest single might be their best in a while. The more I listened to I Miss You, the more I'm addicted. The overlaying vocals really work brilliantly and I like how it progressed with urgency, then hits with the final I Miss You chorus thumbup.gif

Hey guys; Used to listen to Hikaru Utada until 2008 when Heart Station was released.

Do you guys know anyone who is similar to her?

Also, no idol group songs; Not gonna touch the 48s...

I'm not very familiar with Utada's songs to really be able to recommend similar artists like her because to me, Utada is a class of her own and her music is distinct. But you might wanna try these few solo female singers who belong to the same genre R&B.

Miliyah Kato - give her album Loveland a try

JASMINE
Aoyama Thelma
Namie Amuro is good too (unless you're not into her type of music, but her ballads thumbup.gif )
