QUOTE(bodybuilder @ Jul 25 2014, 01:38 PM) I'd say the chances of getting this in msia is very slim. I usually order online from Yesasia or CDjapan. JPOP update ONE OK ROCK - Might Long Fall (single) is out tomorrow but it's already leaked. It's a very Westernized single, especially the song Decision, reminds me of something The Script or The Fray would sing. Nevertheless, it's still a very nice single. ![]() http://avanpiper.tumblr.com/tagged/Might-Long-Fall http://avanpiper.tumblr.com/post/932140314...k-rock-decision |

QUOTE(bodybuilder @ Jul 25 2014, 01:38 PM) Rock Corner at The Gardens and Victoria Music in Sungei Wang Plaza is probably your best bet. Haven't been there in years though but they always have cool imported stuff that you can only drool at because you can't afford to buy them. |

JPOP UPDATE
SKE48's Bukiyou Taiyou's not bad, at least it's tons better than pathetic Kokoro no Placard (they're trying to rip off Koisuru Fortune Cookie's success but it's just so bad). M Three (subunit from Fairies)'s new single is quite nice too while Tricot's MV is interesting, glad to see all the fans who participated. I like the last scene where the members properly picked all the pieces of paper and threw them away. ![]() Akai Koen - Cider (Digital Single) M Three - Your Love (Single) Tricot - Break (Single) SKE48 - Bukiyou Taiyou (Single) Music videos » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Bump of Chicken - You Were Here (Single) GReeeeN - Ima kara Oyayubi ga Kieru Tejinashimaasu. New band to introduce! 3-piece female band called Rick Rack. Perhaps a milder version of SCANDAL.
If that's not enough, have a look at this video below. It's an original song by Serina, the vocalist/guitarist. She played every instrument, that shamisen too. That aside, here's Lostage with the new music, Flower. ALSO, here's Rina Katahira who sounds eerily like YUI. Here's a promo for her new album out today - amazing sky This post has been edited by avanpiper: Aug 6 2014, 11:43 PM |

Just a brief recommendation of an artist that I feel whose new album is actually quite pleasant.
![]() Yu Takahashi – Ima Soko ni Aru Meimetsu to Gunjo (album) Release date: August 6th, 2014 I gave this a listen today. I got to know him through the drama Alice no Toge where he sang the theme song – Taiyou to Hana which worked perfectly for the show. It got very addictive quickly everytime they put it at the end of episodes. I wasn’t expecting anything from this album but this turned out to be very pleasant! There’s something very nostalgic about the way he composed the music (especially Yakimochi and the ballads in whole).I felt there’s a good balance between fast-paced pop/rock and ballads. Glad that I gave this album a shot, worth my time. Highlights: Yakimochi, Onaji Hibi no Kurikaeshi, Taiyou to Hana, Hadaka no Ookoku and Pioneer. I wonder if WC is experimental because it’s just so different from the rest. The urgency, the way he sings it and the accompanying heavy guitars/bass is nice. Score: 8.5/10 This is a KEEPER! Might as well share some of those tunes here: http://avanpiper.tum...hashi-yakimochi http://avanpiper.tum...i-no-kurikaeshi http://avanpiper.tum...yu-takahashi-wc |

I love it whenever I discover new bands to listen to
![]() Nothing's Carved in Stone is a Jrock band created by Ellegarden guitarist after they disbanded. So expect some good stuffs from them. They just released an album - Strangers in Heaven and I think it's good. Highlights are Shimmer Song, Brotherhood, Sekkei Nite, Midnight's Train and Chimera no Yoru. https://soundcloud.com/winnie-laurence/noth...carved-in-stone ![]() Goodbye Holiday has only released 2 mini albums thus far. They're going to release a 3rd mini album soon but I wonder why not just a full length major album? They obviously are capable of doing so. Hajimari no Uta is their 2nd mini album. tricot's brand new single - Break is another solid release. Even though the only male member of the band (drummer) left earlier this year, their music is still as good, if not, even better imo. ![]() Break's MV is self-directed and features fans from all over the world. It's simple but the message across is effective. Basically, they're told to write something they're suffering from on a piece of paper and then tear it off. The coupling song - After School is my favorite off the single. I feel it's even nicer than Break. I love the quiet intro and then the buildup into an explosive chorus. Her vocal is so raw and you can even hear it cracking (in a good way) towards the end where liberation is at its best. Amazing release from this underrated band. any Gesu No Kiwami Otome fans here? Killer Ball one hell of an intro. totally digging the chopin-ish key. Parallel Spec another awesome play by them. at 1st, i don't really dig the way the vocalist do the vocals. the instrumentals were awesome though. + the drummer, Hona Ikoka is <3 This post has been edited by asyrawwr: Aug 12 2014, 08:01 AM |

Introducing lesser known bands here.
![]() FLiP is Japanese female band from Okinawa who debuted back in year 2005. Their music is often aggressive rock, upbeat, very much guitar-driven with strong vocalist. Overall, this is a very energetic band. Often times compared with SCANDAL but I think they have different approach and musical style of their own. *links to try out their songs in spoiler » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Kinoko Teikoku (Mushroom Empire) consists of 4 members – Satou (Vocal/guitar), A-chan (chorus/guitar), Taniguchi Shigeaki (bass) and drummer Nishimura “Kon”. They were formed in 2007, Tokyo. Their music is classified as "shoegaze" but Japanese style? So far, they’ve released 2 mini albums and a full length studio. The two minis are Uzu ni Naru (2012) and Long Goodbye (2014). Eureka was released in 2013. My favorite album is Long Goodbye. It’s a perfect little mini with only 5 but good solid songs. It’s a great place to start if you’re curious what their music sounds like.Their music is accompanied with harmonious guitar rhythms. Satou’s vocal is hauntingly beautiful and covers a wide range. Most tracks have this out of the world, ethereal atmosphere and just drones on forever. ![]() more links inside spoiler » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |
