you refer to this :

QUOTE
here is the current small experiment i am doing and researching

ZTE MF680
[attachmentid=3150346]

E372 Maxis set
[attachmentid=3150352]

Those line is highlight is one of the internal Signal antenna attach to the cover,

See that E372 have much longer zig zag silver than ZTE MF680 which have only tiny  bit ?

ZTE MF680
[attachmentid=3150353]

E372
[attachmentid=3150355]

As you can see from 2 photo above, see how the heatsink in ZTE MF680 is 2 divide piece and E372 is one whole big long piece of heatsink ?
This is the main reason why you guys feel ZTE MF680 is hotter than E372 because the heatsink too small compare to E372 can't hardly tame the whole heat , and the zte mf680 cover will get much more warm and need a cooling method or else performances is drop. on the other hand E372 doesn't need any cooling method and will still be fine and performances a lot better and much stable when heat raise,..

now you guys have the answer of why E372 is much stable and less heat in overall than ZTE MF680 & why ZTE MF680 performances drop tremendous when heat raise

i hope this post benefit you all who having these modem and also for you all who is choosing between which one to have,..

new experiment coming up ^^,
so stay tunes,

It really depends

Some lower the TX once antenna attached to reduce heat while maintaining the performance

But some still go for 33 TX for the 100% power brows.gif

But in my point of view, go for the best

mine current permissible max tx power is 25 , beyond that would get me disconnection issue ( guess i got the bad bin ) , so if i attached to antenna , is that mean i can go beyond 25 ? drool.gif to bad my panel is not with me now , kena hijacked by my cousin

thanks bro chuahcs but I've already seen this and a few times also..The thing is that it is an assembly not a disassembly video and at the second he tried to put the piece on,he take it up all over the camera so I couldn't see..I tried pulling it up but I already did that sometime ago with another device and the clip broke..So I really2 wanted to know the real way open it,without breaking the clips that is..Say like pulling it up but towards the edge,or from the sides..Thanks icon_question.gif

Hi blacktubi, i have to say this is by far the best wiki for our local 3G, where all info that consumers need most are compiled together.. I just have 2 suggestions here:

1. In your very first post you mentioned DC-HSPA+ is MIMO.. Yes generally MIMO is part of DC-HSPA+, but none of our 3G providers have actually activated this. The 42Mbps is acvhievable with 64QAM modulation and dual carrier only (as compared with HSPA 14Mbps). With MIMO and DC, the peak would be 84Mbps

2. Although Maxis has several APN, i think they have implemented dynamic APN for quite long, which means no matter what APN the user puts, the network will decide and route which APN you should have. Not 100% sure though..

1) Yes, this is my mistake. Initially I got some misconception in MIMO and Dual Cell. Just realize recently after further my research in UMTS 3GPP.

2) Yes, Maxis did actually implemented dynamic APN for postpaid broadband and mobile internet. I can even connect with 'blacktubi' as APN. Just sometime most beginner users prefer to set a APN instead. Or I should say placebo effect.
Some plan like the old SKMM require 'bbnet' to be as APN. Therefore I keep this info there

Thanks for all these information notworthy.gif

mdma work with E398 but not band config

You want to force it to UMTS 900 or 2100

mdma work with E398 but not band config

You want to force it to UMTS 900 or 2100

usually i pushed it to 2100.. since thats the fastest band..
but idk atm which is the fastest.
anyways lets try with 2100

My maxis signal at my house at nilai:
RSSI = -97dBm

Is -97 a lousy/poor value?
Sometimes my e367 modem can disconnect by itself. Wondering if it's related to maxis line? The golden contacts of the USB got dots of oxidation (since i first receive it from fruitie).

-97 is very very very poor smile.gif

Disconnect by itself is a famous E367 issue. No people know why

very poor cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif it fluctuate between -93 to -97 (that's what I saw at mobile partner>diagnostics>network status>RSSI)
normally what's the value for good?

why fruitie never mentioned about this before when selling it? i bought it from her last time when it was selling like hot cake. now i got heart attack when u say it's famous issue. now i'm sad. always thought fruitie is 3g modem expert. sigh. cry.gif

but sometimes it can run for hours without disconnect..running good. sometimes it can disconnect in just a few minutes rclxub.gif

i just cleaned up the oxidation using rubber. now it's shiny now.

The issue only arise after a while, that's why initially no people understand bro, can't fully seller fault sweat.gif

But I saw last time many people fixed it by blowing it with a fan smile.gif
Guess it is related with overheat wink.gif

Right now I dont think there's still many using E367 sad.gif

It is all about finding a good spot or some might say the feng shui spot. I could get 85 rssi when I dangle them on my Window but 65 rssi in the corner of my room.... A few notable poster in here has given ways to improve on our signal either by finding having the modem facing in the direction of the nearest tower and etc. It takes just a tiny amount of your effort to search for them.

Hi Blacktubi, thanks for the effort for sharing this mini WiKi. I research a lot and found this is the best thread to find what i wana know.

I staying at Puchong Wawasan 2, a Maxis area with no fiber install. I am sick with the ADSL speed and really interested to get the Maxis Wireless Broadband, since the area covered by LTE.

I have one question, the network i need is to share with my wife. Therefore, i am considering between the 21Mbps MiFi modem and 42Mbps E372 + MR3420. I know the later will give me better speed, but I would like to know do i need to do any configuration or tuning for the E372+MR3420 in order for them to work perfectly? Or it's just simply plug and play?

I read the MR3420 thread, ppl talking about V1 & V2 then sharing about fix idle connection and disconnection. Then open firmware to fix issue, which are worrying me and keeping me away...

Can you give some advice?

MiFi is for portable usage and totally not recommended for 24/7 usage wink.gif

Puchong do have LTE but not amazingly fast and antenna is required.

Just get special Maxis package and get E398 as your modem and TP-LINK MR3420 V2 as your modem. PM me if you need more info

Ignore the idle issue, its the custom firmware. Stock firmware is working well but you might need to use a pinger to make the connection on HSPA+

Using E372+MR3420(v1), speed at JB can reach 11.5MBps d/l, 2Mbps U/L
Connection is DC-HSPA+, as good as it gets.

I just subscribed to Maxis Home Wifi, bundled with a B660 Huawei modem. The speed is terrible as I only manage to get around 1mb/s of download max, even though the signal is full bar (shown on the modem gateway menu). Is it a modem problem or area problem?

Not to say good or not, but for sure a 42Mbit device would be faster than a 21Mbit one due to DC-HSPA+ support

Most of us here use at least 42Mbit or up to 100Mbit LTE device wink.gif

At office all working fine, but when at home, I am not able to connect to 3G connection. sad.gif

Firstly what I have done is by forcing it to Network type: WCDMA Only. However it unable to register as picture below:

fail register 3g (picture)

QUOTE
Q : UMTS 900Mhz VS 2100Mhz?
A : 900Mhz is having better penetration rate compared to 2100Mhz.So, you get better signal and stability on 900Mhz.
Unfortunately, telcos currently are not running DC-HSPA+ on 900Mhz. Therefore 2100Mhz can get faster speed and if you live close enough to the tower, signal and stability is on par with 900Mhz.

Secondly, may be my place does not support 2100Mhz, how if I want to force it 900Mhz? I read how to force it to 2100Mhz using QPST posted by @chuahcs79

All related to E398. icon_question.gif

Use MDMA to force it to UMTS 900. smile.gif

How to know the nearest signal (tower cell)?
Got software to track it?
I have asked Maxis CS about this but they resist to tell me.

Thanks.

Panel is really good if your connection sucks. biggrin.gif

I have bought three panels from tubi and 2 are in PJ while 1 unit at hometown.

Er, it helps a lot in my PD's connection but seems like my connection is considered good in PJ, I'm not using those panels anymore. Somehow they slowed my speed when I last tried. sad.gif So, 2 panels lying there and do nothing...

I have bought 3 and I'm only using one now at my hometown because my connection is quite bad there.
The 2 are collecting dusts in PJ because they always point me to the slower towers. laugh.gif
I think the slower towers are having strong reception. laugh.gif

Now on LTE, I don't need these panels anymore. smile.gif

Antenna is for those who have truly awful signal reception.

Eg keep dropping to 2G and having -92dbm

Else the not really required, our Telco transmit power is too amazing laugh.gif

It did help earlier, pointed me to a faster tower and I was so greedy, bought another one for PD. tongue.gif
Then, bought E398, the greed struck again. Since it can plug in 2 antennas, I went and bought another from you. tongue.gif

Sooner, I noticed my speed got deteriorated. Unplugged one of them, speed flew. biggrin.gif For many months...
Then suddenly, the speed slowed down quite a lot. At first just suspected something wrong the connection, until one fine day unplugged the antenna, and it was flying. laugh.gif

Now, I'm on LTE and basically it makes no difference. tongue.gif

ooikl In your case, antenna is highly suggested wink.gif

Since your signal is trully very bad, at 2G drops, only solution is to use antenna as I guess you only can get 1 tower at your location sweat.gif

The battery is nice.

And best of all, it works without battery so it can function as a USB modem and run at full powered mode.

When using MiFi, it can either on HSPA or DC, but sometime takes a while to switch from HSPA to DC

It works without battery and still retain the MiFi function

But one thing is, it cant switch seamlessly to Battery Power if you plug in battery and remove USB. It will reboot.

Maybe I switched too fast, not free to test further yet doh.gif

That is windows problem, consider disable autorun, it is not useful. Sometime autorun virus on infected pendrive.

Maxis firmware is newer

hi bro blacktubi , i stumbled upon this thread while looking for solution to a problem im facing. I hope you can share some lights regarding this issue.

I've recently been posted to a town named Triang in Pahang due to working purposes. Im using a huawei e367 modem coupled with maxis corporate plan. Being realistic i know it's pretty impossible to get 10+mbps in such a small isolated town. So once i've settled down and found that i could get a constant 3-4mbps i was on cloud nine. But here comes the problem, 3-4 mbps is sort of the speed i could get during day time. When it comes to the so-called golden hours (8pm-11pm) i cant even bloody stream a youtube video for goodness sake. Even when i just want to do some surfing, i need to reload and refresh the pages a few times before it can load. Online games such as Guild wars 2 totally cant be played at that time. And once the clock strikes past 11+pm, the speed will miraculously get back to normal, i could watch youtube in 720p and 1080p again and IDM speed will be 800-1mbps. I know that period of time is the well known peak hours and most connection will get slowed down but my case is slowed till i cant even do normal surfing. The weird thing is that this problem will disappear occasionally. At some time, the speed will be flawless for 2-3 weeks and the problem comes back not long after that. So i hope bro blacktubi and all the sifu here can share some insight in this. Is there any additional items i should purchase to counter this problem? or is there anything i can do at all? your insights will be very much appreciated.

P/S: seems like everyone is using LTE or at least the 42mb double band modems here. Will upgrade to e372 be much help in my case? thanks again.

On the 3G tab you click automatic and on the LTE tab you click only 1800Mhz

Then back to MDMA main windows on the bottom left, click LTE only

WARN : Selecting LTE ONLY will make your modem cant detect 3G signal

Thank you for your concern, sorry for the late reply. laugh.gif

Connection's better of course with the panel.
Indeed what you said, better signal, better SNR, more green bars in MDMA doesn't mean it's good, but it is more better to get the less congested towers that is,

Just did some research on MIMO tech on LTEs, just got excited although still no LTE(Maxis) here, but Celcom(LTE) got. laugh.gif

Browsing through many types of antenna online,
it is strange for one to get excited by looking at many types of antennas, especially those huge dual antenna MIMO types. rclxms.gif

Yes, some are really good manufacturer but they don't really sell it to international customer sweat.gif

There are some great antenna maker and designer at Europe, unfortunately they don't ship here else I would get a LTE one now tongue.gif

1800Mhz is stronger signal penetration than 2600Mhz

But 2600Mhz faster because lower congestion

Try both

@blacktubi

i have encountered a problem here.

Saw this ad in umobile http://www.u.com.my/phone-deals/broadband-devices and feel like getting it since they provide me with a huawei 21mbps modem (unsure what's the model) thus i borrow one from a friend of mine to try at my hostel room.

while installing the broadband manager, i encountered error that force my laptop to restart (note that im using windows 8). Thus im wondering if this problem is common for windows 8 users or there's something wrong with my laptop? and is there any alternative solution?

Thank you very much

My E367 comes with Mobile Partner v21. I have uninstalled it and installed the latest one v23 posted by TS (blacktubi).
Everytime I plug in my E367, my windows popup "application already installed. would you like to remove it?"
No doubt, I will select NO. shakehead.gif

Any idea how to stop this message from appearing on my pc?

No doubt, I will select NO.  shakehead.gif

Any idea how to stop this message from appearing on my pc?

Btw both Malaysia/SGP telcos are slow, the resellers on SGP already selling Cat 4 LTE portafi, E8278, but it's damn expensive. shocking.gif

Yes the successor of E398 is E3276

And Huawei had move from Qualcomm chipset to their home grown HiLink chipset.

I used E3276 and E5776 for a while, heat is amazingly low.

But somehow, E398 signal reception seem slightly better, not sure is it a firmware bug

Hmm, yes, I think LTE is more stable on E5776.

760S around at 30Mbit+/-
E5776 36Mbit on the first test and it is constantly hitting this speed

The Mobile WiFi usb charging port that also can transfer data, just like how you plug your 3g modem to computer. sweat.gif
E589 does not support this(the 4G transfer rate is limited by the device's wifi bandwidth, which is 30mbps only.), except the rest of the mifi (E586/5331/5151) i've tried.

need firmware ? sweat.gif i own 6 of their modem, none of them received update from Huawei, not sure if they are just lazy lol.

The bandwidth setting is misleading i think, it's actually 20Mhz/40Mhz iirc, 40mhz only double the wifi speed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11n-...in_2.4.C2.A0GHz

im using it but with Hame T1
if im the only one using it, can easily reach 10 hours++ without moving too much
if stay at one place and signal 4-5 bar, can reach 12 hours++
works out of the box and LTE supported
really satisfied with Hame T1 and Huawei E398 bought from blacktubi

just google and certain hame products can be flash to openWRT

All Hame products build on the same chipset, can be done but you need to compile it and tons of headache
What really surprise me is the China written code work so well with LTE.

E398 is a legend, even I use E3276 now I got to admit E398 still the best modem I used.
E3276 signal reception is weaker. I never upgrade the firmware, not sure it is fixed.

im using it but with Hame T1
if im the only one using it, can easily reach 10 hours++ without moving too much
if stay at one place and signal 4-5 bar, can reach 12 hours++
works out of the box and LTE supported
really satisfied with Hame T1 and Huawei E398 bought from blacktubi
hame can flash to openWRT?

EDIT
just google and certain hame products can be flash to openWRT

Theoretically.. if using 2 or more devices at the same time and place (such as usb modem + mifi).. and aggregating the speed using software such as (connectify Dispatch)... will the speed be doubled? Or more or less the same? (Since now the tower is giving bandwidth to more devices at the same place...?)

++

Go for hardware type and use a LTE modem and a DC HSPA+ modem that connect to 2 different cells, LTE and DC HSPA+.

Multitjhreaded connection?
Does downloading from 2 or more different sources consider as multithreaded...
Eg using idm to download from 2 different servers for two different files.

Noob questions.. Sorry >.<

Anyone under maxis using LTE here? Since last weekend I notice my speed constantly leaked at 7mbps +-5%
I kinda suspect they are capping speed for LTE, so wanna ask if someone faced the same situation as me, I tried switching to at least 4 different tower and all of them are giving me 7mbps. And I notice my speed started with 10+mbps, which is basically the speed that I could get last time and drop till 7mbps and stable at that speed regardless on which tower I'm locked to.

I also suspect they are capping users for certain package only, that's why might need other user that is using their postpaid data plan and try out

No wonder, lol, but well, it does make sense to cap it, those using mobile for youtube etc shouldn't need anything higher also, for me, I just wanna be able to play Dota without DC, but last sunday is bad, dc every minute and the game freezes for 5 seconds in almost every clash, when it is unfreezed my hero died and I dont even know what happened sweat.gif

I might just go back to Unifi for stability sake, tower jumping is too frequent on my area and the gaming stability is worse than I expected, but I'll still be using my data plan for my phone since it's good anyway

Just stick to the Plastic cover will do tongue.gif

E398 already got thermal tape inside to transfer the heat from the Chipset IC to the chassis tongue.gif

BTW I have to warn anyone who attempt to diassemble any RF device including smartphone, there are antenna around the chassis, make sure don't drop or bend or lost the PIN connecting to the antenna tongue.gif

Never had my USB chargers burnt before *touch wood* whistling.gif
Was using 2 x MR3020+E398 24x7 ever since I bought the the modem from blacktubi. I've supposed it's more than a year now. biggrin.gif
One thing to note about using high power 3G/4G modem with MR3020. The power supplied via USB might not be sufficient, make sure you're using a decent USB charger (i'm using one that can supply at least 2A) or you can supply additional power via a self-powered USB hub or the Y-cable.

Just want to share one of the best USB wall charger that I've come across so far - PortaPow Quad USB
Main features that I like about it:
- Quad USB (a bit bulky but i don't mind tongue.gif)
- Auto lower individual USB power to the minimum if device is fully charged (with LED indicator)
- 3 Years warranty (not that it will be easier for us to claim since it's based in UK sweat.gif )
You can buy one from eBay at around RM70.

For WR710N, I'm using one running on ROOter. Bought two and still undecided what to use with the remaining one. There are a couple of sellers selling it here. Just need to do a quick search in Networking Related Items.

3.5A might be overkill. Use it carefully as it might kill the device that can't take that much. doh.gif

If you want more power, check out this monster 5A charger from the same company - PortaPow PowerStar rclxub.gif

How much is your signal?
My area is 35%~ and my modem was super hot.
After plug in the antenna, it goes to 80% and heat reduces 50%.

Got question lah:

I use Maxis coporate plan with 21mbps mifi modem. My area , setapak have high Ping and lots of packet lost. Cannot play online games.

Downloads can reach max 4-5 mbps during non- peak hours (but not stable, got packet lost) . But 7pm -12am, browse also cant sweat.gif

Signal i get -60dBm, HSPA+ .

I know it maybe congestion problem, but u think change LTE modem or add antenna or DIY parabolic dish would make it better? hmm.gif

My are are covered with DC-HSPA+ 3 to 4 bar, im using a DC-HSPA+ modem also but I only get 7 to 8mbps.

I found this on maxis:

Average Speeds:
7.2Mbps USB Modem - Average speeds up to 2Mbps
21Mbps MiFi and PortaFi Modem - Average speeds up to 5Mbps
42Mbps USB Modem - Average speeds up to 10Mbps
75Mbps USB Modem - Average speeds up to 30Mbps

Notes:
The Service speed is on a best effort basis and the typical speeds are up to 10Mbps. Speeds depends on factors such as modem capability, location, coverage, distance from communications tower and number of simultaneous users.

Don't expect 43.2Mbit, that's the capacity of DC-HSPA+ in zero congestion and best signal

I do able to get 30Mbit on 3G last time.

Consider move on to LTE if your carrier support it and your location have it

just buy a Hame T1 from taobao

performance top notch, but sometimes the device will reset itself
other than that it is an amazing device
easily reach 6-8 hours of battery life
LTE works out of the box

Guys, if my line is jumping around from HSPA+ to HSDPA what to do? Frequently tho.. (MDMA)

Already put modem near windows for best SNR (around -67) for HSPA+, still jump around and when it's connected to DC-HSPA+, then no connection at all -.-

3G services under MCMC scrutiny

by b k sidhu

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has issued a stern warning to cellular companies that are providing 3G services on lower-than-agreed bandwidth, causing a deterioration in the quality of 3G services.

Most of the 3G players are using the 900 megahertz (MHz) and 1,800MHz frequency bands to roll out 3G services instead of the primary 2,100MHz band meant for 3G.

The regulator has given the players till the end of the year to come up with a plan to rectify the situation or face hefty fines, given the rise in the number of complaints regarding the capacity and speed of 3G services.

“We did an audit over three months ago and this has come to light. They have been putting up 3G coverage but not capacity and speed, and hence, the 3G services are slow. We issued the warning two weeks ago and have given them till the end of December to come back to us or action will be taken against them,” MCMC chairman Datuk Mohamed Sharil Mohamed Tarmizi told StarBiz yesterday.

He, however, added that “some of them have taken steps, but a lot more needs to be done”.

The rationale for telco operators to roll out their 3G on the lower bands is simply because it is more cost-effective to do so, according to telco experts.

Simply put, the higher the band, the higher the data capacity that can be carried on that network. However, the higher bands have smaller areas of coverage, and hence, the investment has to be higher.

“Some players have economised on investing in 2,100MHz to push coverage instead of higher capacity and speed. They are trying to compromise on quality. They may be stretching their dollar by not putting in enough base stations despite having made a lot of money all these years,” said an telco expert.

Another added that “consumers need more bandwidth for tablets than phones and this means the players may have compromised on the quality of service. Perhaps, some of the players had underestimated the tablet demand and had under-provisioned”.

The four recipients of the 3G spectrum are Celcom Axiata Bhd, DiGi.Com Bhd, Maxis Bhd and U Mobile.

The four players did not respond to queries from StarBiz as at press time.

“The concern is two-fold – first, there is concern about the quality of service of existing customers on the 900MHz/1,800MHz spectrum.

“Second, and more important, is the fact that rolling out 3G on any spectrum other than 2,100MHz could mean under-utilisation of the 3G primary band given to the players by the Government to provide maximum benefit of higher data capacity and speed to consumers,” said the expert.

“The onus is now on the regulator to find out if the Internet data rates charged for 3G services commensurate with the actual delivery of speed and capacity. If not, then consumers should not be burdened.”

Late last year, MCMC also dished out parts of the 2,600MHz spectrum band to eight players, including the main incumbent telco operators, to roll out 4G/ long-term evolution or LTE services.

Some of the players have asked to be allowed to upgrade on the 1,800MHz, on top of the 2,600MHz. Again, this would be a move to provide less capacity, but the regulator does not want a repeat of the 3G debacle.

Sharil said: “We have mandated that for every two base stations on 1,800MHz, operators will have to roll out one base station on 2,600MHz, as they have to provide adequate capacity and not coverage alone.

“The lower-bandwidth base stations are to accommodate for some handsets usage.”

MCMC has been making serious efforts at raising the quality of services for consumers in Malaysia.

Last year, it conducted a survey and found that the rate of dropped calls was bad among certain operators, and highlighted its findings.

So no more dual band 3G 2100/900mhz ? Bad news for rural, sabah, sarawak people.
AFAIK the only 3G player using the 3G 900 megahertz nationwide is celcom axiata berhad.
Where got 3G 1,800MHz ? Never see any 3G device support 3G 1800mhz band rclxub.gif

I never get 3G 1800Mhz on my 1800Mhz modem laugh.gif

Anyway, I never expect telco don't have the license to operate 900Mhz 3G

Weird, My LTE upload speed on E5776 is much slower, only get ~0.9Mbps.
While on E398 can get 4.xx Mbps.
Download speed for E5776 is better than E398.
LTE signal bar show in E5776 only one bar, but on E398 is 50-60%.

E5776 can detect LTE much more easier than E398.

And it will log onto it even if the signal is low.

Sorry for derailling, but Modem Master Blacktubi not replying at all and nowhere esle to ask...need sifu's help.

For Huawei E398/Vodafone K5005, the lastest firmware is?

There is 2 on Blacktubi's site and 1 on his thread,

The one on his thread is http://blacktubi.com/files/E398%20Firmware...00.260.B757.exe

There is one on his site with higher version number:
http://blacktubi.com/files/E398%20Firmware...33.61.10.55.exe

Any sifu know the differences?

Just updated my E5776S-32 from 21.232.38.00.00 to 22.264.07.02.414

New feature : Use your E5776 as power bank by USB Host cable and improved boot up and a few fix here and there.

Flash Update_UTPS1.12.00.414_MAC1.12.00.414.exe followed by E5776_Update_22.264.07.02.414.exe

Do not remove the USB when flashing, as usual flash at your own risk nod.gif

Hi there blacktubi, I have Huawei e5776 that is a Digi set, but it unlocked and can be used with celcom/maxis sims. I only recently bought it, and there is now a notification on it that there is a firmware update... The version is as follows.

FIRMWARE1: 22.264.07.02.311
Size: 53.88 MB

The Mifi is working ok for me as it is. My question is: is it ok to proceed with the auto update? I'm afraid if after the upgrade there may be problems...worst thing is Digi updates it to locked set..
What do you think?

Do you know what password is it asking for? I already failed twice and on my last try @_@

It does help here and there since newer device tends to have better signal reception and stability

Just purchase according to your budget.

APN doesnt matter
1. check your area if its covered
2. try to force 4G only

normally both band. some very very ulu place 900mhz single band only.
yagi is single band. better take dual/multi band panel one.

Hi all, I not sure this has been asked before or not, but I'm going to ask again.
Company gave me 1 Maxis Broadband to use.
My question is can I take out the sim card and use it with my iPad?
Reason being the boardband modem is only 3G while the iPad has 4G.
And the reason I ask is because I want to know whether it will work or not before I cut the sim card to micro sim.

You mean you can't obtain a public IP or the connection failed to go through?

already obtained public ip for my cctv side (3g broadband)

but i cannot use same isp which is "maxis" to access my cctv from outside

if i use digi, celcom, unifi, streamyx , i have no issue to access my cctv

i think maxis internal problem

You are talking to the customer service and not the technical team. Kudos to Maxis for actually solving hour problem. Other telco just do not bother.

Evening peeps,
Long time haven't come here(Maxis/celcom unlimited data user-now no more), since im gonna move house, im eyeing on the DIGI infinite 150 plan (Current home now using = Unifi 50 bye.gif )

Since my new place haven't got unifi/maxis fibre/streamyx, i think what's left are these newly launched DIGI infinite 150(For their 4G LTE internet) plan seems legit? no? well i hope they are

Before i make a move and subscribe to their 24 months contract, is there anything i should consider?

I know i require:
- LTE capable modem/router - i prefer a router with sim slot on it
- ISP/telco 4G capable Sim Card

Optional:
- 4G antennas

This will be my main internet line for these 2 years onwards until unifi/streamyx arrives here - my house/residence project just completed last year - new area

Better check if digi coverage at your new house, that's pretty much the main priority
Also, infinite 150 has no contract
And digi blocks portforwarding by default, but you can portforward using vpn

They throttle p2p kaw2
With vpn, can go full speed (depends on the seeders of course + portforward) and there's a few cheap vpn with fast servers like ra4w that just werks
If the source link from the kodi plugin is from filehost/google servers then should be fine

No issue with debrid since they're still just direct links
For netflix, since they only allow google dns, so can't use dns service like dns trick to change region

Yes I know its now the year 2020. Whereby everyone is into 4G and now going to 5G.

But anyone here still using 3G (3.5G)?

Recently I gotten abit fedup with 4G (Using Yoodo aka Celcom)
that i decided to take out my abandon Huawei B660 3G router + modem.
I think mine is 3.5G , not HSPA+. Cause its rated max throughput at 7.2MBPS.

Previously was using an old Xiaomi Redmi 2 phone , as a 4G modem and enable Hotspot.
Only advantage of my Huawei modem, is that it has better WIFI reception. I feel the Xiaomi WIFI transceiver is slightly weak.
But I am aware that WIFI signal plays a role.

Problem is my area here , sometimes at night can be slow. But tolerable.
Living in Subang Jaya, so its a city centre.

Already lodge a complain to Yoodo and they acknowledge the tower I am connected has high usage (reported before MCO Lockdown) . Doubt they will do anything about it.

I did a speedtest on my own Samsung hp, switch between 3G and LTE (supposedly have LTE-A / 4G+) , run Speedtest, and the LTE only fare slightly faster.
Tested my wife's DIGI , did the same thing , and find that LTE sometimes a little bit faster.

So I thought why not downgrade to 3G since hardly anyone user is using it.

3G user here because 4G line is dead at my house ground floor. Even 3G is almost dead. I think barely 5% of the ground floor area has 3G signal. Making a phone call is close to impossible in my house.

Woah..yours is really bad. Really bad..
Have you considered porting out to another telco?

If I were to goto my parents home, the 4g signal is kinda weak indoor. But 3G is strong.
So what I do is, I use MTK Engineering app, and force it into LTE mode only. Of course signal bar is only about 1 bar but at least I got 4G.

I tried 3G and yeah it works well too.
Akin like ..4G = Federal Highway, PLUS highway.
and 3G = Kampung road.

Sorry I didnt realize you're from Sarawak. So I now truly understand why you have very bad line even for 3G.
Meanwhile at my mom's place in USJ (Klang Valley area BTW), dammit..maybe that particular road has weak 4G spot.
Heck even when I stand right at the car porch near the gate, still only 1Bar of 4G.
So i have to depend on good ol' 3G. Which is not too bad.

Still able to stream for Zoom and Youtube videos.
