Don't use a filter, best solution. Why use filters? If it's for protection just use the supplied camera hood. That is good enough. It is funny that we spend so much $$ on camera+lens then go put a cheapo filter in front which might spoil the quality of the light going into the lens/sensor. If you must use a filter, then use a real original one - there are many fakes out there. you can find hoya 49mm filters for about RM30 via ebay, but whether they are real or not, don't know
QUOTE(Amelie Poulain @ Nov 12 2012, 08:49 AM) mls_gamer, I was wondering what is the price people are getting it for in KL, as they are usually cheaper than Penang, I really hope I am getting the best deal. How much should I be paying for filters? I have been told this is where the sellers get 'rich' This post has been edited by poolcarpet: Nov 12 2012, 08:59 AMAdded on November 12, 2012, 8:52 am I can get the NEX-6Y for RM3,600, same freebies Why do you say I need to get an original charger? I thought it's the battery that that is better original? Of course I am getting a reliable brand generic charger |

Daiso store has quite a number of screen protectors in various sizes. Each RM5 only
You can measure and cut slightly, I bought one recently. Slightly matte so it does blur the screen a bit. QUOTE(geek8585 @ Nov 12 2012, 11:18 AM) a clear sp will touch for your touchscreen... Hi all, may I ask NEX users here, anyone using SANDISK ULTRA Class 10 SD card here? This is the one labeled 30MB/s on the SD. Using this, in speed priority continuous drive mode, how many shots can you take before it starts to slow down/buffer? Setting: 4M, 3.2, STD quality. I'm using a class 6 and can get only about 5 shots before it slows down so wondering if it's just the buffer/interface or the speed of the SD...
Thanks! This post has been edited by poolcarpet: Nov 15 2012, 11:16 AM |

Ok thanks... this is just normal class 10 right? What about Sandisk Ultra? That's supposed to be faster than class 10 in terms of write speed... anyone using this with their NEX?
I just figured out that I need to turn off lens correction, then I can easily get a burst of 10 shots even with class 6 in 16MP JPG, but in RAW+JPG only about 5 shots. QUOTE(moonmoon88 @ Nov 15 2012, 11:32 AM) |

oh memory stick will beat any SD flat based on what i read... read somewhere it's due to the interface bus, wider on the ms compared to sd.
i just did a quick check on my class 6 SD, and this is the result. just wondering if using class 10 or sandisk ultra will allow longer continuous shots before it takes too long to clear the buffer to card. ![]() QUOTE(moonmoon88 @ Nov 15 2012, 11:50 AM) |

Is there a noticeable difference using Extreme 45MB/s? If you take continuous shots, how many shots can you get before it slows down?
Ultra 30MB/s is about RM115, Extreme is about RM150 I think? Groupon sale price is no difference from what you can get from shops in lowyat, don't be easily fooled by the claims of high discount. QUOTE(geek8585 @ Nov 15 2012, 12:36 PM) |

Video part is not true actually, the highest bitrate for NEX 5N/5R/6 is 28Mbps (this is 28 MegaBITS per sec) while the minimum write speed of a Class 4 SD card is already 4MB/s or 32Mbps (8 bits = 1 byte), which is well above the minimum required speed. That's why in the manual it is stated min is class 4. Most SD class 4 cards will give you higher than minimum, I had a class 4 sandisk before, benchmarked it and it was writing at 7MB/s or 56Mbps, more than double the requirement for 1080p 28M.
So for video, anything above class 4 is overkill. But for photos, especially burst mode (10fps Sandisk extreme 32GB is only selling for RM96 after conversion at Amazon Updated note:hmm ok it looks like doesn't matter what card we use, it's 10fps then 2fps after that.... http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonynex5n/5 QUOTE(idoblu @ Nov 15 2012, 02:11 PM) the class 10 or whatever is for video This post has been edited by poolcarpet: Nov 15 2012, 03:07 PMthe mbp/s rating is for still photos i read somewhere that you can buy the 45mbp/s extreme 32gb for rm130 at Low Yat plaza. Genuine card or not I dont know. Try going to the big stores. anyway i just bought one sandisk 45mpb/s extreme for my RX100. I compare with an older Transcend class 6 card and there is no difference at all. Even compared with a 4gb Eye-Fi (i think this is a slow card) and no difference as well just get the 45mbp/s ones will do since they are not so expensive. less than Rm150 for a 32gb card |

hi all, anyone here using their NEX to record 1080p 50p 28Mbps video? Is the playback choppy? I thought maybe it was SD card speed (can't be cause 28Mbps is only 3.5MB/s which is well below even class 4 speed) - so I got a Sandisk Extreme 45MB/s read/write card (confirmed on PC, getting 40MB/s write speeds) but still the video is choppy.
Anyone else facing same problem? |

Did a bit more test and noticed video playback on NEX is not that bad, so tried MS Media Player instead and it works fine!!!! So on my laptop, VLC is NOT ok (already skip h264 filter) but media player is fine. Weird.
