this one also i'm always confuse, some say unbuff is the damage on your char screen before buffing anything, some say its the damage without everything including passive...

unbuff..to me i think it would be the one on DiabloProgress web page, since that one removes everything rite? just ur pure damage without buff & passive....or am i wrong ? sweat.gif

yup.. not even include your passive.. either refer to diabloprogress, or remove all your active and even passive buff.. such as Ruthless/Weapon Master for barb

The term is supposed to be meant as ...unbuff active skills dps since passive skills which affect dps are always on.

Un-buff means your raw DPS which does not include active or passive.

I prefer to abide by blizz dps in-game standard rather than follow diabloprogress definition.

Well, i know barbs love their ruthless passive. Well, i think i get you in a way that you feel passives are not considered buffs.

Fair enough since you guys have the best passive in the form of ruthless.

We can always come up with another term ...raw dps then your dps definition applies that is minus active and passive skills.

Actually when you put it that way, you're kinda right in a way that passives should not be considered a buff since is something that is there 24/7. But then the D3 community have always went with naked raw DPS as un-buff DPS.

ermm..Fully buffed on char screen damage is what matter to me, as it is what we are dealing most of the time when fighting bosses/mobs. still wondering why some players needs to compared unbuffed dps with char screen dps as the unbuff isn't what the damage u'll be dealing. no offense to anyone though nod.gif coz when mentioned DPS, most will start to ask...buffet or unbuffet...aiyoo..

Because sometimes DPS is a fake number and false sense of security. For example, a DH with steady aim passive. You need to have no enemies within 10 yards to gain a 20percent bonus damage and we know that that does not happen often in higher MP. So you are actually dealing less damage than the DPS shown.

Added on November 7, 2012, 3:10 pmand to answer your question on why people ask un-buff or buff. Is because is human's nature to compete. This is why the D2 ladder system was so successful.

Gamers just want to know they are doing better or having a better score and so on. I guess is the sense of satisfaction or thrill. Is nothing personal actually.

^ fully agree to this. buffed dps is what matter most when it comes to fighting bosses/mobs.

say a 90k dps monk with MoC vs 100k dps monk with MoE (due to lower ehp or poor health regen mechanic in his gear), the 90k monk would produce more damage as compared to the 100k monk. but if compare purely based on dps, people might think 100k dps monk is better.

as for the unbuffed dps (or raw dps, where does not include active and passive skill), it's a reference to see how much amount of dps your GEAR gives you. it removes the class dependency so people can compare who's gear has better dps than others.

take another example from diabloprogress: the top 2 so called unbuffed dps - a dh with 500k dps and wiz with 461k dps. then check their profile:
bam. dh with 664k dps and wiz with 736k dps!!
obviously that dh has better dps gear but due to class it lost to wiz. so what does that mean? dh gear is expensive laugh.gif

Man crazy gears on the Wiz esp the witching hour belt. Perfectly rolled.

Anyway, my aim here is too reach 350k DPS (with SA and Archery la) or 300K DPS (without SA) which one comes first.

i use to think 300-400k would be the limit, now i wonder how far a person can push (with survival gear def/offense, not fully offensive setup)...

700K...btw whats the highest damage output wizard skill ? if that skill do even 200-300% of your damage, would be around millions, if a barb can reach that 700K..imagine rend with 900%...sweet
