QUOTE(benny888 @ Nov 20 2012, 03:12 PM) You will be terribly disappointed watching videos as its audio quality sucks. Anytime tab 7.7 trounced it flat It is a very responsive tablet good for browsing, email, rss , tweeter n gaming Too bad it's speakers bad n poor compared to other tablets/phones haha... Tab 7.7 still awesome. The poor speaker cannot be compensated by a good headphone? Or the audio chip itself is bad? Note II and S3 audio chip is really good, can hear the difference compared to my Note with a pair of Jays headset.

QUOTE(zurggie @ Nov 20 2012, 03:27 PM) Received my 32gb Nexus 7 from Newegg and really glad I bought from them instead buying locally. I don't even need to root or install custom rom to love Android 4.2. Everything works and I haven't encounter those problems listed in Android Police, except for missing December. My Unboxing Album https://plus.google.com/photos/114412062527...837391373860241very very very tempting.... RM771.90? No need to pay for shipping? Just now K5WHITE was saying RM816, now even lower? Edit: Btw, does the N7 support OTG - connecting to USB drive via the microUSB connection like Note II and SIII? This post has been edited by Cynox: Nov 20 2012, 03:43 PM

Neweggs has very limited stock? Tonight will check with my wife whether we should get this. Will pass the Tab 7.7 to her. Me and my sons will game on this 32GB N7. Any enlightenment to confirm whether can use external storage via microUSB? Thanks.

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Nov 22 2012, 04:21 PM) They deal via Facebook. So you just gotta fill in the CPP and they will sent you an invoice which you then pay before they ship it to you. Any question, you can call the number on their facebook page and I think Richard is the one who's responsible for Sales Dept. Thanks for the info. Already PM them earlier thru FB and got the reply. They are temporary suspended the order until Nov 28 due to ongoing promotion. Furthermore, 32GB Nexus 7 is out of stock anyway. New stock coming in 2 weeks time. Total price quoted is RM820.90 including shipping charge to JB. Price difference with Note 10.1 is too much to ignore.

QUOTE(benny888 @ Nov 22 2012, 04:47 PM) Actually very cheap n no inconvenience I pay rm1000+ ( all in) buying direct from USA. Have to go to sirim jb in technology park pay rm100 for sirim n back to jln bakti custom to show them sirim permit n pay another rm100+ for tax ( on invoice value plus courier) Did not even count in my time cost plus petrol cost going to JB yes, that's why so tempting, pay RM800+ and get it delivered to my doorstep. The 16GB version was going for RM1k plus when it first available here via parallel import. Luckily din buy that time. Will pass the Tab 7.7 to wife for viewing videos/photos/etc and I will use the N7 32GB as mini gaming device. The 16GB on Tab 7.7 almost used up already by all the big games. I tested the internal/external memory swap but it is not so stable to use. Since the 32GB N7 priced so attractive, no brainer to just grab one. QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Nov 22 2012, 07:37 PM) Did you even look at a N7 before? Don't be shocked when you actually looked at one *hint: Super AMOLED Plus HD vs IPS(not-so-good-kind-of-ips)* nope, dun have the chance yet, only watched the video reviews but most of the review says the screen is good, no? But still considering whether should get the Nexus 10 instead if the price is as good as N7 32GB. I mean based on the current Newegg Malaysia formula of US Price x 3.1 + RM50 shipping. Anyone know how much is N10 32GB? I only can see 16GB N10 selling for $399. 32GB $449? Edit: Just google, the 32GB is $499. Double the price of 32GB N7 $249. For $499, i would rather buy Note 10.1. The lift screen is a known major issue? Can RMA it with local Asus service centre? This post has been edited by Cynox: Nov 22 2012, 09:35 PM

QUOTE(benny888 @ Nov 22 2012, 09:52 PM) My personal opinion, the N7 has the WORST display in all the androids phones/tablets i have used. Only text looks good as its colors are generally paler and some times look washed out. You wont be admiring it much viewing videos, photos etc. N7 has international warranty. I send my unit in to Skudai center to replace motherboard ( dont know how it got fried while flashing a different rom ). Was told warranty covered even though i have unlock bootloader and root/flash with custom rom. The technician subsequently screwed it replacing the motherboard and offer me a new unit as replacement. NO need even to show proof of purchase - they just key in serial number and is inside Msian system though my set was directly purchased from Google USA Added on November 22, 2012, 9:55 pmWhy hesitate - send in to repair. Or do it yourself. A few users here has open the backcover and adjust the screws themselves and immediately rectified it My ex 16 Gb and 16GB replacement unit and present 32GB unit has no such lift problems haha....thanks for the straight forward comment. And glad to hear the good RMA experience. Looks like the lift screen has an easy fix. For just RM820, a little inferior display might be acceptable but looks like i better checking one in live somewhere in JB before i pay it with my cold-hard cash next week.

QUOTE(benny888 @ Nov 25 2012, 05:38 PM) That guy is talking crap I always set my currents actively sync in background n do not faced problems he said Pointing it due to a certain app is possibly his own problem Uncle Benny, i notice you got a 32GB N7 too. How much memory is available for use when new, i.e. when fresh new out of the box? How's its general performance compared to Note II in terms of smoothness and gaming performance? Will be getting a 32GB version when Newegg has it.

QUOTE(Dwango @ Nov 26 2012, 08:32 AM) When will the Nexus 7 32GB with 3G be available in the local stores, and roughly how much will it cost? And one more thing, why the sale price is higher than US retail price? Nobody knows. But there is AP set selling in garage already. Since Asus provides international warranty (not 100% sure on 3G model though), there is no difference buying local or AP. Can get slightly cheaper from Spore around RM1,200 compared to garage average RM1,300 ready stock. Need to check if Newegg is bringing in 3G model too and at what price. If only RM200 extra from WiFi version, i might get the 3G version.

QUOTE(Dwango @ Nov 26 2012, 09:42 AM) Thanks for the info. Regarding original vs AP, what are your thoughts or opinions? I asked some retailers, not on the Nexus 7 but on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. According to one seller, the only difference is the AP set is covered for software failure only but not hardware failure. So if the hardware fails, the unit is good as dead. Even if it can be repaired, the cost of repair will be close to a brand new unit and it's not worth it to fix the thing. As for the Asus international warranty, perhaps it is wise to check whether it is covered for everything ie. both software and hardware failure. Even if it is, I suppose the unit will need to be shipped to the Asus HQ(in Taiwan?) for repair. Will need to pay for courier fees, and getting an original unit may be a better choice. If nothing happens within the warranty period, then I would say the AP set is worth the money, but nobody can predict if the set will develop faults or not within the 1-2 years warranty period. What do you think? No need to think - just need to read. You haven't read thru this thread thoroughly. Uncle Benny has shared his experience claiming warranty of his imported rooted N7 from Asus service centre in JB. They honour the warranty without question. Eventually Uncle Benny get a new replacement set. Edit: Yes, for Samsung, it is different since Samsung does not provide international warranty. Heard one Samsung user here said there was one Samsung AP device owner want to repair his AP set at Samsung service centre but they did not want to accept even though the customer agree to pay the repair charges. QUOTE(Dwango @ Nov 26 2012, 10:10 AM) OKay thanks for the info. So you are saying AP set for Nexus 7 is covered for everything, and warranty claim can be done at the local Asus service centres. If that's the case, will there be an "original" Nexus 7, since there won't be any difference between an AP and original set. Don't have time to go through all the pages of this thread. I normally just go to the last page. So for Samsung AP set is not recommended. Cheers. yes, i believe not only Uncle Benny, some early adaptors who get their first batch of N7 from US has problem with their speakers and all go thru local Asus service centre to get theirs fixed (correct me if I remember wrongly). Whether to get AP set or not depends on how you value the local service support. For me, RM300-400 more for local Samsung warranty is the price i willing to pay.

QUOTE(jpaq @ Nov 26 2012, 10:31 AM) Yup... I got a free replacement unit. looks like Asus has given Google a pledge for good service since this is the first time Google chooses them as OEM partner. But on the other hand, some (maybe all? not so sure) of the Asus laptops also has international warranty.

QUOTE(Erehwon @ Nov 26 2012, 02:21 PM) Anyone using the 3G n7 from US? Can it support the local network bands? most likely can, since Singapore N7 3G users also bought it from US. Singapore 3G is the same as ours. But dun take my words for it. btw, how can we check the 1 year warranty period start from when? Or Google will detect it once we fire up the device the very first time and auto-register it.

QUOTE(Kyl3 @ Nov 27 2012, 06:42 PM) Ok thanks, might try my luck on tomorrow was told by them via FB that they do not have ready stock for 32GB wifi at the moment. New stock arriving in 2 weeks time. Only can register for interest in their FB page tomorrow morning from 9am onwards. Added on November 27, 2012, 7:09 pmQUOTE(orenzai @ Nov 27 2012, 07:02 PM) BUMP for help. Anyone can answer any of these questions please? i thought uncle Benny already answered your first question? Send it back to Asus for repair, you can't save much from RM430 from outside. And you do not have black and white that they allow you to go to third party service. What if later they deny saying that? Not worth to take the risk of service it at other than Asus. Based on Samsung charging close to RM600-650 to replace a much smaller S3 and Note II screen, RM430 is not so unreasonable. This post has been edited by Cynox: Nov 27 2012, 07:09 PM
