QUOTE(Decky @ Nov 3 2012, 11:20 PM) Just got my Nexus 16GB. To customize homescreen try app like Apex and Nova launcher. Animated wallpaper is called Live wallpapers or LWP. Try searching for it in google play. And you don't need to be rooted to use those. What should I install now? still getting used to how to customize homescreen and animated wallpaper etc. |

Google "Nexus 7 tool kit" 1st hit. That's all you need to root.
Browse around ROMs in XDA and read up. So far I've never encountered any malware that's included in customs. Worst case if there is, just flash in new ROM. PS: I gotten a matte SP. Very nice to slide. Downside is the visibility but I can sleep on it np This post has been edited by redlyfs: Nov 4 2012, 12:12 AM |

What do you mean by updates? OTA?
And what do you mean by released of all nexuses? Is that something to do with religion and world end prophecy? |

QUOTE(teckyang97 @ Nov 5 2012, 12:05 AM) And why wouldn't you get updates for those devices? If a manufacturer releases an update, you'll get updated. Its a tautology. Kinda confused what you're askingUnless you're asking if you get updates if your devices it rooted. Then it depends on the following stock rom - update as normal via software update. custom rom - flash in a new ROM as per chef's instructions. Some customs have their own hub you can update automatically rather than the conventional means Added on November 5, 2012, 1:15 am QUOTE(EroS @ Nov 4 2012, 11:46 PM) Gotten mine from garage sale. What kind of accessories are you looking at?
I gotten my casing and SP from this guy. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2513955&hl= I've chosen the trifold candy series. Smart sleep/wake works very nicely. |

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Nov 6 2012, 12:16 AM) Anyone on ParanoidAndroid, and uses the stock Android browser as their default browser? Does opening TheVerge.com causes the browser to crash? As in, the prompt "The page has become unesponsive. Do you want to close it?" appears, every single time. And it's only The Verge. User agent: Android. Tried PA for a couple days. While UI is pretty interesting, but its not very stable. Gotten a couple FCs before I decided to flash something else. Have you tried using other browsers?Haven't tried other ROMs, so it might be a fluke with PA. |

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Nov 6 2012, 11:34 AM) Yes. Chrome, in particular is horrible. Severe lag compared to stock AOSP browser. The rest of the pack has navigational deficiencies compared to stock. I'll check it out later on my n7. Verge you say? (When I mean navigational deficiencies, I mean I'm in love with the stock browser's Quick Controls panel. Nothing ever comes close to its level of convenience). EDIT: Yep, just tried CM10. Same problem. Whaaa??? update: tested. It worked fine. Using Glazed rom with Trin7 kernel. Perhaps its something to do with TrueTablet UI? QUOTE(n8210 @ Nov 6 2012, 06:38 PM) ES File Explorer. The only one I use. QUOTE(n8210 @ Nov 7 2012, 08:34 AM) Yes, Google is the mother of android. My bad. You held the power + volume up while the N7 is at shutdown or powered up? There's one combination that performs a hard reset. Try charging it for a couple hours and power it up. Hold power button for 10sec and see if there's any reactionAnyway, a more serious problem happened today. I push power and volume up button at the same time, and now my N7 could not boot. Nothing happens, blank black screen. What should I do? |

QUOTE(n8210 @ Nov 7 2012, 12:54 PM) I shutdown N7. After that press power & volume up CWM is the recovery. To enter recovery mode shutdown completely, then hold power + volume down. Select recovery from the bootloader menu with volume button and power to selectAdded on November 7, 2012, 1:19 pmFinally, my N7 is alive again. Don't know why or how. Anyway, I rooted following jayceooi's video, using Nexus Toolkit, selected option 8: one click option I hv superuser but I'm a bit confused. I don't see the CWM icon. That means I only have CWM recovery? And to get into CWM recovery I should press power & volume up and down, all 3 buttons together? |

QUOTE(n8210 @ Nov 7 2012, 01:46 PM) One thing to note with recovery mode. You'll NEED to have the cable plugged in while selecting from bootloader into recovery mode. Failure to do so will result freezing at Google logo. If not mistaken its the same for both TWRP and CWM. If anyone using TWRP, please confirm |

QUOTE(yeelong @ Nov 7 2012, 03:37 PM) Hi All, plan to get one for my wife, but I want to know since 4.1 jelly bean doesn't support flash, can I still play flash game on N7? With HTML5, I dont think there will be a such a big fuss. Adobe is betting Flash's future on Windows but will probably die there. Perhaps if you could direct us to the games, we could test them out |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Nov 7 2012, 04:02 PM) Don't know whether is like chinese saying new "toilet bowl" feeling the 32gb version seems better in performance than the older 16gb version It is great feeling having the 32gb version QUOTE(fwhoam @ Nov 7 2012, 05:05 PM) The only difference is the a bigger storage space and optional. HSPDA+ capability. Since Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 will be shipping with 4.2, it's only logical that later Nexus 7 will also be shipped with 4.2. However since the hardware is basically the same, when 4.2 arrives for Nexus 7 existing ones will also be updated. So for those who already owned a Nexus 7, there's no need to feel downplayed. It's still the same awesome hardware. I don't see why there's a need to feel egoistic about it. |
