just factory reset / wipe data in recovery, then choose zip from sdcard and flash only

Meaning you want to un-root and go back to stock rom.

Or you want to flash for the very first time from stock to CM10?

Alright. On to your previous question bout whether its recommended to flash to CM10 for the first time flashing.

Depends.. CM10 is well-known and quite stable so you can say you can try it out as your first.

My first was ParanoidAndroid. Decent rom with cute customization lol.

I do not have much stuff in my phone, is it still advisable to do a backup?

Gurus, im flashing a rom using ODIN...so do i need to turn on kies?

Or does my pc need to RECOGNISED my phone? or just odin detects my phone is enuf?

use which odin ?
pc or mobile ?

if pc please install samsung kies
then just use pc odin

Backup is a must everytime you flash.

Unless you dont want your stuff.

Just now went through it. Wiped without backing up. Everything gone. GONE

no need
just install the kies because you need the usb driver
after install then just use pc odin to flash, no need open other things

crap..ive tried...FAILED...what could went wrong?

My phone is still on download mode...safe to remove cable?

i didnt on kies...odin has stopped...coz FAIL

what next? flash with kies on?
