then open ur dark sms 4.2
in the main sms app then open menu/settings and play with all the settings.
there are some to change background theme, colour, emoji support and so much more
can also change the defult smily on the bottom right to spacebar
(hate the smily, always want to press enter like wassap)
then enjoy. (there are also light theme if u hate dark [save battery])

playing with ondemand settings can push battery life and keep over multiplying the clock lower..

download trickster mod from GOOGLE PLAY (srry people miss that google play part always)
then enable high performance wifi..

that will keep it awake when screen is off and in deep sleep.

get the app, get root, and make sure pen drive is formatted to fat 16/32
it should work.

IF ur HHD is a 3.5, it needs extrernal power.
IF ur HHD is a 2.5, and is a newer model which needs less power, it will run
IF ur HHD is a 2.5, and is a older model, it will just jam there
IF ur HHD is a SSD, mind blown, it should work

I don't think bricking is the problem...
Power to power up the device is the problem

1st ada power source?
2nd formated to fat? or NTSF or exfat? only FAT/16/32 works
3rd pendrives usually works better.

most likely he unlocked and somehow his friend must have flashed a custom rom or have CWM on it.
im guessing it looks really like stock then itz ARHD, (most common case i seen)

just use the guide in vernon 91 signature and flash stock yakju image.
