No worries, I really appreciate it. Do you have any tips on finding the best seats in the hall? I'd like to know if there's a general rule that I could apply for IMAX.

Depends on whether you like to be closer to or further from the screen for immersion - generally near around the center is best - even the sides are not too bad as the curve of the layout is orientated towards the screen.

One thing about TGV's IMAX at 1U that I need to warn you is the fact that if you are not tall enough, the person's head (if he/she is not reclining the seat) in the immediate front can be visible blocking the lower part of the screen - kind of affects immersion for the full IMAX ratio movies.

It has been like this for years I thought this would be solved with the upgraded seats allowing the audience to recline - if the guy sits upright throughout then too bad LOL.

Doesn't matter which row, it can't be avoided as I've tried all the way to the furthest back row - its the same.

Thankfully I don't encounter this issue at KLCC and Sunway Pyramid IMAX screens.

My favourite seat row in 1U is J. Think it's the best spot for encompassing the whole screen. Again, like the others said prior, the rows are a bit tight and you may have people's heads blocking a very minor part of the screen below. Personally, I'm ok with it since it just gives me that "it's a cinema experience after all with people being there."

Even then, the heads won't block that much since the screen's aspect ratio is 1.78:1 anyway, and the IMAX projector projects at the max of 1.9:1, so letterboxing will be there at the bottom anyway which will tank the viewers' heads in front anyway.

Sunway Pyramid is an option but I personally don't recommend it since the screen is very small/short. Wide-scope/2.39:1 scenes will almost fully fill up the while screen. Tall scenes will max it out but you won't notice the difference between these 2 aspect ratios when they switch. You might as well watch the film in a BIG hall at that point and save the extra few ringgits.

J is a pretty good row at 1U - or the row in front of that which has better legroom because of a gap in the middle because it is a sort of central walkway from the entrance (don't know if this is H or G - there is no row I shown in the booking app).

Stay away from tgv IMAX 1u, especially if seat filling up forcing you in front rows, the screen there has some minor scratch and tgv need to upgrade the hall some day

You can try the newly upgrade laser IMAX hall at sunway pyramid instead
*
Oh, is the scratch very noticeable? I think I can get seats at either IMAX halls and at the second or third row from the back but I just can't get the seats that are dead centre, maybe one or two to the side. Should be ok right?

Okay if not too close. Last time I watched superman and marvel's f4 there forced to go for front first few rows, then scratch is more visible in brighter scenes

Guys just wanna share my cinematic experience. Recent movie reviews (most recent first):

1 One Battle After Another: 10/10
2 Dead To Rights: 8.5/10
3 Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc: 9.5/10
4 The Legend of Hei 2: 8.5/10
5 The Long Walk: 9/10
6 Abah Saya Uncle Mike: 7.5/10
7 Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle: 9.5/10
8 Weapons: 10/10
9 The Naked Gun: 8/10
10 Together: 7.5/10

For number 4 (Legend of Hei 2) GSC took off schedule too quick (in 1 weeks) then TGV remove that too soon afterwards, box office too bad?

Encore films fk ed up this time, they tho nezha2 they brought in earlier so hot that time can complacent about following C anime films releases huh?

Legend of Hei 2 premiere mid July in Domestic China mainland they can drag till mid September for here, imagine putting in very very bad competition against up to 5 JP anime films in these period?

Next C anime film they gotta bring in about white snake/green snake legend I think will be fare even worse

Yeah, unfortunately. But then again, Tron: Legacy had very similar review ratings and I enjoyed that film despite its flaws. The original Tron, thought I haven't watched it yet, also had very similar mixed reviews, only slightly more positive. And yet, look at how it became a cult classic and how big the fanbase is now.

So I think it's just a thing with the Tron series and I wouldn't pay too much attention to the reviews. Might watch it in IMAX.

Watched in Onyx 3D - worked well for Ares - at least was distracted by that to overlook the flaws in the story.
Daft Punk score for Legacy was better - the themes had melody I still hum in my head on occasion.

Watched Ares on Onyx at IOI Damansara. Great visual spectacle and fantastic score by NiN. Story is serviceable. Movie overall was much better than I expected. It's not amazing, but honestly it's really not bad either. It's entertaining enough to watch at the cinema.

First Onyx experience for me, and good choice imo. It's a dark movie so the display worked very well here.

Depends on how is being produced. In KV only 2+1 locations, 2 GSC locations are Mid valley hall 11 and ioi Damansara (Tropicana gardens), and I tried before the screen is on the smaller side. But at least the Dolby sound is still great

And yes central I city too but it's TGV (got IMAX that will be upgrading in the future so while these time just onyx can do there) also I think just go there if live nearby at shah alam area, LRT3 opening date still TBA if outside of SA area so IDK

Yup! Even during the 1st week there were little showtime in the morning. We have to go to IOI Damansara to catch up the early bird ticket price. I had no idea about the story and binge the 1st movie the night before weekend. It was so good. I would give it a 9! The sequel was good too but not as emotional and heartfelt as the 1st. The lore building was so good!

Agree! From the trailer I was expecting full invasion story about Tron universe VS military. Apparently, every action scene was in the trailer. LOL What a letdown. The action scenes were good though, they were using real vehicle (assuming) that have cool designs.

We watch One Battle After Another on Onyx in IOI Damansara. I really like it. it was like watching TV OLED screen but in cinema. But you need to pick middle seat as the screen was smaller than usual screen. If I would d rank them:
1. IMAX
2. OLED
3. Big/MAX/Atmoss
