genielee_83, your Oscar color super bright and nice!!  rclxms.gif

Still in the process of setting up, don't think can be done until June 2012. I am rather particular about things like pump, rocks, sands, etc.

I am thinking of housing my Frontosa with Goldhead and Blue Dolphin...and if possible Synspilum (I know Synspilum is not alkaline/hard water species, not sure if it can stay alive or not). Researched online, they said Frontosa sure eat Goldhead.... sweat.gif

Anyone has any idea where to get Tahitian or Aqua Star Holland black sands?

All Thanks to quality Hikari Cichlid pellets.
It does boost the colors. But it's not as red as i've expected. Hope he can go further. The red is not wide enough.

Only feed Hikari, no other food like Brine Shrimp, etc?

Aiyoh, so envy you, I feed my Frontosa the following, and the color still like quite dull:
1) New Life Spectrum Cihclid Formula (sinking) - super good stuff, they love them so much. Rush out and finish makan immediately.
2) Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold+ (floating) - dare not feed too much because floating pellets cause 'float' in Frontosa
3) Hikari Cichlid Excel (sinking)
4) TetraBits (sinking)
5) Frozen blood worm and brine shrimp.

No live feed because I read they carries disease.

We all know shrimps give the red. But that means alot of shrimps.
So i purchased these for him.

How much is the Krill E? Maybe can buy for my Frontosa also. They like shrimp.
*
I got for rm33 (85g).
Krill is believed to be very "red", can boost coloration.
If you see my photo closely, you'll noticed Sticks is for color enhancement.
I realize the ugly oscar turn red nicely, compared to those in LFS.. vey dull color even though eating feeders and live shrimps

Thanks Genielee_83, I will go and buy some.

Nice tricke system. I like the eel also - Fire Eel? They said they are great escape artist  biggrin.gif
*
Eels and birchirs are kamikaze fishes.
They can leap.
So keep the water level low ( maybe 60%), many hides, some plants (ivy)on top.
Then, it'll look safe and secure for them to stay put.--> Refer to my photo

My oscar just kissed the frog. Then torment it.
Never intend to eat it..
Yesterday just pick a partially rip apart frog from the filter.
No wonder my filter isn't functioning tongue.gif dah block
Now he tak suka feeder fish too. 100% on pellets.
I have to be the grave digger whenever i put in few feeders for him to chase about: Exercise brows.gif

Ropefish is very fragile.
Better do a species tank. Coz when they get those white strings symptom..
they stiffen up, drowning then 100% dead.
