I was one of them back then, three years ago. Yes the above photo is the boss, earning big bucks behind all these. He is definitely more than able to pay all the bills and what not, as all agents recruited under this company fall below his downline, including all the senior and junior ones. And each sales generated from each of the agent in this stream of downlines will contribute to his commission. How it works is exactly like MLM, just also as other insurance agencies.
If you ask me, I would advise one to join an insurance agency rather than joining them, just to not be so unethical. I've seen how they closed sales, as they always have a day where they gather all agents and go for cold canvasing (not exactly like cold calling, cause they don't call) They go to areas with a lot of shop lots, and distribute the areas and walk in one shop by one shop to approach business owners or staffs, even offices above the shoplots. Before all these, we were required to go in a big group, one shop to one shop, passing balloons and shout "good morning, have a nice day" to create awareness (which is so ridiculous thinking back omg). And one of the senior who joint field with me helped me to "close sales" (she is driving a beemer now, which were funded by innocent customer's hard earned money, what a pity). And I finally see how unethical they way they do it. which was why I decided to quit, as I feel so sad for those customers being cheated, feeling so shameful. I can see how hard she tried, and customer still refused, but she will just keep trying (I have to admit that they are sooo motivated and persistant), and in the end told the customer, you can pay a deposit first (asked customer to pay at least RM5-20, depends) and said that they can call me to cancel if don't want after considering, and it will be refunded (which is totally bullshit if case has been submitted). Luckily I hesitated submitting the cases. And when customer called and told me he wanted to cancel, I asked her what should I do, she just said then don't submit, but doesnt have to refund the deposit (she said because it is meant to be a deposit, it is supposed to be burned if cancelled).
Are they doing sales or recruitment? They do BOTH. they recruit people hoping to get in more sales. And to them its a number game, when you recruited more, the probability of getting sales is higher.
And yes they have all kind of meetings, where the seniors were brainwashed to make sure all their downline attended. Every morning, they will have a sharing session. Where they get a senior (or those being deeply brainwashed) to share on a value they live. And it is really common to have sharing session where the speaker will cry and say how this job changed their lives totally. Like testimonial session in a church, cause this boss likes copying, and he is a Christian. (It is okay for a religion to share testimony, but being copied for a wrong purpose is sin). And they will keep you till very late for recruiting session at night.
The concept they promote by the boss, is to earn a big buck fast, and then you can achieve your dream. I remembered clearly, he said, we didnt ask you to keep doing this for the rest of your lives, you earn your first million and then you can start your own business or what not, your dream. This explains why this is unethical also, insurance requires after sales service, even for savings plan, as there is also basic sum assured, if anything happened, the customer should be able to get the agent to help them on claiming! Ok, this aside, now that some of them have earned big money, but do they started chasing for their dream? NO. Cause eventually, they will give up on their dream seeing that their dream don't generate these monies, which is essential for them to fund their car loans and mortgages, and of course, their branded luxuries. I do have some of them as example.
Now when I see so many stalls of 'I love magic' around in all shopping malls, I though maybe some of them are chasing their dream (I don't know, I mean, maybe some of them have dream becoming a magician or what, or start their own business on something they really have passion, as I was really confused, these stalls definitely don't generate income as much as they usually do, and they surely won't spend time like a normal promoter standing whole day at the store which is very contrary with what they've being brainwashed). But only now when I see that this is a scam for them to continue cheating people, sigh, I just hope less people will be cheated.
Pray for Malaysia.
