if not mistaken, there are 3 different grade of marble - depending on the clarity of the marble.
Grade A, B and C. Grade A is most expensive, not sure of the price, Grade B is around RM1000, Grade C is around RM800. I bought a Grade B marble table with 6 chairs with marble. PM for more detail. |

Nowadays marble mostly are COATED. Means it can easily tear off and looks so ugly after then.
You have to be careful cuz the salesperson surely can easily bluff you on this. Had an experienced for my new house, the girl said its 100% marble but end up got slightly defect just right the corner of the table. Immediately i cancel and return back to shop. Pic as below: http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/4076/imag1236.jpg Till now still haven't buy my dining. To be honest i'm still in shock tho. For me, i wont ever buy a marble dining again. |

Saw some nice natural Marble table at Stadec in Segambut. Quite a few choices
The sales girl told me if want to see more choice have to make a trip down to Ipoh and there are more variety there. The design with skirting is more expensive than the one without skirting. |

Yes there is a shop at Stadec selling marble tables & chairs and they are from Ipoh. I bought mine there 5 years ago, love it to bits. I surely think its original marble cos on a freaking hot day, my dining table still feels cold when i lay my hands/arm on it for a long time, hence its original marble.
Mine was a rectangular table 6" long marble with 8 seater. Love it. The sales person told me that hardly can find such a big piece of marble anymore. Cost abt 4k then and totally worth it. Its so heavy that once their delivery guys help you position the table, you are unable to move it to reposition it yourself. Its that solid. |

Casarano not bad, just beware of additional RM 300 charges if they need to lift your dining set to 1st floor.

Anyone bought any marble table lately? I've surveyed and mostly are darker quality due to the batch lately. Cheaper set is not able to choose, and they keep the nice ones with higher price above 1k.

These marbles are compressed marble, with the surface treated with probably a tough plastic coating. They can withstand scratches and stains better than natural marble. I bought one full set myself for $2.6k RM and I'm quite happy with it. Natural marble should cost more and more difficult to maintain.

Go for united woodwork, i got quoted rm2400 with for 3.5ft round table with 5chairs(non marble). Uses solid meranti wood and the workmanship for the tables and chairs are very good. Tables does not shake and very solid. Even underneath the table and chairs are done nicely no unpainted or rough edge.
This was the model that i was looking for but this pic i think is 3ft. ![]() However, due to lack of budget, i just settle down for cheaper marble table and chairs made with rubber wood. RM1000 with 5 chairs and add rm200 for grade B ipoh marble. Bottom part wasn't painted, and not sanded smoothly. Still ok for me but if got the budget, I will go for that United Woodwork. For me after sales support is important. For example if the marble table is chip or scratch, the manufacturer must have polishing and repairing service. So far i know Crown Furniture provide this service for their marble tables.

QUOTE(Chigme @ Nov 9 2013, 03:18 PM) Unfortunately i did not buy from them so they won't take in my marble table. I have tried looking for others but no one willing to polish my scratched table because of uncertainty about the quality underlying the table. I see. Casarano also mentioned they can do on site repair. But i never use the repair service before too. And i don't hope to use it too. |

As some of the people mentioned above, go for United Woodwork (Horse brand), I think the HQ and factory is located in Penang. It's a bit pricey in KL, but the wood is called Nyatoh, go and study about it. It is not rubber wood. The wood is so hard that termite won't like it at all. They're making furniture and exporting them to countries like Japan, Korea, and Europe. The quality of the table and chairs are firm and heavy. According to seller, you can simply clean it by using wet clothes.
My parents bought the dining set 23 years ago and use it until now, no extra care and no crack no "bubble skin" no termite no scratches, the table is only wrapped by using good quality plastic (usually used to wrap books), easily found in stationary shop. Plus point, as 23 years passes, the color of the wood become something priceless. I booked my table already and will get it once I move into my house in coming months. just a warning note, marble is really a high maintenance piece. Make sure no water stain, dont put hot items on it. daily wipe the marble.... bla bla bla
but if you really like marble, and if you got the time, find a marble piece and customize it to a table.... it will be more satisfying..... This post has been edited by lazzy_dogg: Dec 2 2014, 01:34 AM |

QUOTE(evolution120 @ Dec 3 2014, 09:25 PM) yup..... i did that.... there are plenty of marble warehouse around.....actually customized marble tables are quite common.... they can even do the leg in marble if you want....cant remember how much i did it.... the island and the table legs were from my cabinet contractor... the marble cut by the marble supplier.... if you want to buy marble, its better to buy exactly the marble u want.... personal preference.... |

QUOTE(popice2u @ Mar 17 2015, 01:23 PM) Not sure about pricing but the marble ppl do dining table not nice imho cause I don't like the legs. It's always some hexagon shape. And another thing is the profile of the marble piece also not nice cause the marble is thick and some only knows how to do a few profiles. I prefer those edge profile to be thin so it doesn't look too chunky. My table is a knockoff of Saarinen's Tulip table. If you can find the pedestal leg, you can get some marble ppl to do the top for you. |

Finally they delivered my Saarinen Tulip table (knockoff only can't afford the real thing). The marble is called Staturietto from Itali. Bought from Urban Edge. Size is 1300mm diameter

Seremban and kajang, great! Will consider these options. Thanks for the suggestion 10 years back, I surveyed 30 shops before I got my marble table but because it is grade 2 type, so it is cheaper. I prefer those with "defects" marble as it can tell you those are original marble. |

I just bought my dinning table. Most of the factory will apply a lamination on top of the marble. You only can see bottom is marble but top is lamination. Of course weather you get grade A or grade B, no difference coz there is lamination. You don't see it.
The difference would the quality and design of the lamination. If you want to go for non laminated, you will find those in Kopitiam type or those expensive type imported. Those imported type has a beautiful texture marble. The price should be around 5k above. Mine get 3k plus with 6 chairs. Saw some going at 2k. But the surface is different on the texture and color as well as the coating. |

QUOTE(ck2chan @ May 12 2015, 10:44 PM) Depends the quality of lamination, the keyword is you don't damaged the joining points.Still, it will fail over the time. That's why some hardcore people still willing to search high and low for real marble table regardless of the price 10 years ago when I bought it after searching 30 shops, it was rm1100, second grade marble. After 10 years, the price already rm1800 for third grade marble(same shape, chair design different). At least it was real marble. What the grade difference is, mine will change color, when original it has some brown stains, now it is getting darker. And do not drink or put coffee or tea cup on marbles, it is the biggest enemy of marbles |

QUOTE(supersound @ May 13 2015, 08:43 PM) Scratches? Sure have, staining, not really, but the brownish side do go darker. May need to do a polish like floor. Yes, that's the slight downside associated with the use marble. But there's a method I think to absorb the stain out. A known technique is to apply a 'poultice'. Kinda of like going to a TCM sinseh or 'teet ta yi' and they prepare a herbal mix that works on the swollen ankle or area in pain after a massage which is not removed until the next day. But the content of this poultice is meant to remove the stains from marble. Same principle applies to granite and perhaps the content differs slightly. See here. |

Those market selling around 3k and below is all laminated one.
Surface looks beautiful but fact is laminated. Go and see the furniture fair you will now. Those non laminiated will cost you a boom, those imported from ovesea marble. |

i forgot the name now, but the location is around KIP side of sri damansara. kepong MRR2, turn left = LDP, go straight = sg buloh, turn right under the bridge = KIP and sri damansara... that shop is located on ur right side near the new tall tower but u have to make a U-turn infront as theres no direct right turn .... |

Marble dining set can be modern also. Grade A marble would be nice for modern looking type of dining set. |

All,
I just got a quotation for solid marble table 7ft long by 4ft wide for RM 2,200, it is from a marble factory. Good price, but waiting for them to quote with wrought iron leg first. Shop is called AS stone located in Sg Buloh, phone is 61563560. Ask for Ms Ooi. It is a big marble factory. Hoping for good price when she quote me marble table with leg. My recommendation. You cannot find such large piece of imported marble. |

Need suggestion here. I was looking a dining table with black top. The seller claimed that the dining table is marble kind of material but just mixed with other stuff "laminated". The outlook of the table look polished and appearance most likely like granite type. Only I worries the most is the price. It is cost me RM 5k after nego and nego. After so many furniture shop I still could not find any same like that ones.

QUOTE(advocado @ Dec 30 2017, 06:09 PM) take care of the surface and put table cloth if you can as the gloss coat are prone to scratches unless they use 2k coat automobile paint shop uses. they probably also don't like hot surfaces as most clear coat are plastic/oil based. really?? so troublesome then.. wrong choice ... |

QUOTE(WahBiang @ Dec 30 2017, 11:17 PM) it's the same. wood, marble, granite, acrylic, gloss surface all have some sort of top coat that will get scratched over time. for wood it's even more easy to scratch. that is why people change furniture after some time. |

I have a marble top. The legs broke so only left the marble top. It’s from Belgium.
It’s not a dining table. It’s a small decorative table. Let me know if you are interested to buy. |

Anyone have this sort of marble dining table? I'm really keen in this design but not sure if the wooden base can withstand the weight of the marble through the test of time. Coupled with the possibility of termites infestation of course. ![]() Rubberry liked this post

The pricing on marble tables at shopee looks really attractive Not necessary have to buy from shopee. Now is not MCO anymore I recently went to a home fair at starling which is currently running this weekend Funny thing is that the marble table catalogs looks exactly the same design, legs and table top wise but RM5k at the fair and RM2k at shopee/lazada So I was wondering if it’s from the same factory |

Problem with buying marble from china is you can only view photos. Marble has a lot of veins and the real one can look very different from photo due to lighting.
For best value, I would advise going to a marble/stone factory to see their slabs. Lots of these near subang airport. Can see and select marble or granite or others and choose the slab you like. They will cut/polish/edge to your liking, with delivery and installation. Prive can vary from few K/slab to few 10k/slab But for the leg, best is source from china/taobao. You can also try to find locally, but hard to find a modern and nice design. The stainless steel ones are especially nice, but also not cheap. Combine these, you will not likely find a new piece ready made real natural stone table in Malaysia in better value. |
