i never actually consider the price drop or resale value of the my smartphone. At the moment i buy it, i already scrap the value to zero. I just consider the purchase price and the durability of the phone. Example, i bought the Note at RM1,699 (with DiGi 1 year contract last year), I straight away divide it into 24 months estimated useful life - RM70.83 each month which i consider it affordable to me, so i bought it. 1 year later (as of now), some one want to buy it for RM1,400 (with other goodies like SGP leather and Glas.T screen protector), I think it is a good deal, so i sold it and upgrade to the new Note II.

It all depends on one's own valuation about the usefulness of the smartphone. It is invaluable to me as i can check office email whenever i am out of office and my little entertainment machine during waiting/idle time.

got a SGP Flex HD wet type for my wife S3 as it was the only SP to offer full front coverage at that time. It has the orange peel effect (please google if you dunno what is this) but when view in direct front as we normally use the phone, the orange peel effect cannot be seen and it does not affect the screen clarity at all. No difference running our fingers on the screen with or without the SP.

But SGP now offer some dry curved type SP for S3. So I will be using Nillkin SP for Note II at the moment until the dry curved SGP SP is available for Note II. There is even a Glas.T curve type for S3 but it is only in white colour. If they make a grey colour one for Note II, i will not hesitate to grab one.

I am very happy with the SGP Valentinus Leather casing + Glas.T combo in my previous Note. So will be using the same combo for Note II if they are available.

From my past experience, renewal of contract is not possible. Need to terminate early paying penalty and recontract - stupid DiGi policy. But you can confirm with them whether they have changed their policy. In this same situation last year when i want to renew my contract earlier with Note bundle but was told not possible. So at the end, terminate the contract earlier by 2 weeks and paid an unreasonable penalty.

Use this formula: ((Phone RRP - DiGi Phone price)/contract period in months) x no. of remaining month + RM100 admin charges.

I just terminated my contract ending on Nov 10 in order to MNP to Maxis to get Note II.

The penalty I paid: ((RM2,299-RM1,799)/12) x 1 + RM100 = RM141.67

I thought i suppose to pay 2 months penalty since there is still about 1.5 months to expiry of the contract but they only charge me 1 month penalty.

In your case, you might be charged RM100 only since this is the last month of your contract.

yes, best is to wait if you can. Last year i cannot resist the temptation, so no choice.

manage to do 6972kbps download and 2240kbps upload yesterday night with my Tab 7.7. The fastest i tested to date. But i notice Maxis line not consistent - at the same spot, tested few times, speed can range from 1mbps plus to 4mbps plus. In comparison, DiGi is constantly at 1mbps plus a bit and stay at the same no matter how many times you run the speedtest.

to me, S3's screen is too small to be compared to Note 2, only Note 1 is the worthy comparison.

surprisingly this time the celcos has still not yet leaked any bundled offers and launch date yet. Hopefully latest by Wednesday can confirm. Need to plan ahead to work on Thursday or Friday so that can camp at Maxis on launch day. But i think most likely launch date is Friday since Samsung is only officially launching it on Thursday evening.

yes, normally celcos' launch is the next day of official launch. But i just scare they may launch it on the same day, ie Thursday. Coz in JB, Maxis's stock normally sold out in Day 1, so must really camp for it.

hard to say, most probably not on same day, but this is Malaysia, anything can happen. I just need to make sure. Anyway, dun worry so much, i think some leaks about the celcos bundles and launch date will be known in the coming days before Thursday.

Tentatively, i will arrange to work on Thursday and be free on Friday. If Thursday suddenly got launching news in the morning, will take half day emergency leave and grab it after lunch.

if you want to MNP, do it asap now coz it is not possible to do so during the Maxis launching/promo. If you want to get it with a new number, then no issue.

Maxis line is faster but fluctuates from 1mbps and above. DiGi stable but maintain at 1mbps. My experience of them in JB.

but for outstation town like JB, stock will definitely be limited. Cross finger no one want such a "gigantic, inconvenient, hard to pocket" phablet, bundled with Maxis, except me and bro titi123.

i think it depends very much on their costs and market demand.

i think now ok already, my wife get a sms alert when she reach 80% quota of the 3GB quota. Even if quota exceeded, the charges is RM0.30/mb which i think not so outrageous like previously RM0.10 per 100kb.

Yes, MNP is possible from pre-paid to post-paid. In fact, using pre-paid to port is easier. I suggest you to get a temporary Maxis plan with data, like the RM50 data only or the RM50 all-in-one, to avoid the outrageous data charge if you accidentally use the data without a data plan. I did my MNP last week from DiGi to Maxis and subscribe to RM50 data only plan at the moment while waiting for Maxis' Note II launch.

But need to do the MNP before launch. Not possible to do during launch.

i can only say my wife only exceeded 80% of the quota once and she got the sms alert. Normally she just used less than half of the quota, quite a waste.

remember to call Maxis and your current celco the next day to follow up. They did not submit my form until i called to check 2 days later. But the process took less than 24 hours after they rectify the mistake and process it immediately.
