Any of those with GT650M.
The Lenovo is particularly good since the GT650M come with GDDR5 VRAM.

Price is RSP, negotiable. At your budget, GT650M is the best GPU you could get. If you top up a bit, you could get this:
Lenovo 15"
Ideapad Y580, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GTX660M + 1920x1080 @RM2999[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB/W8, backlit keyboard, 2 yrs warranty

Anything above GTX660M, you are looking at > RM4k.

*
i'm struggling between these 3:

ASUS N56VZ-S3151H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799[2.7kg][B&O], 4GB, 750GB, W8; color: black
Y480, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M (GDDR5) @RM2599 [JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard, freeDOS
Y480, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650(GDDR5)@RM2699[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard, W7HB

Is the 3 above come with DVD-rom?

Yes, all come with DVD ODD.
I suggest you go out and touch and feel the real thing (screen, keyboard, touch pad, carry it ... )
You may have "slight" difficulty finding Y480 since re-sellers prefer to stock Y400 now tongue.gif But it is still available.

Hi! So I was hoping I could get some recommendation on a laptop for my aunt. wink.gif
1. Preferred Brand: Dell
2. Budget: 3.5k
3. Usage: watch movies and basically she loves playing farmville on facebook.. So yea!
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 13-14"

Well she's been complaining that playing that game on her pc is too laggy and always crashes so she want a laptop that will play it smoothly basically. Also it'll definitely be a plus if the laptop comes in other colours! Please recommend? Thanks! smile.gif

Please follow the format in the 1st page Thanks notworthy.gif

"Bang for buck" is too general... bang for buck in terms of lightness? Design? CPU performance? GPU Performance? etc.

Wow, that's a pretty high budget for a notebook that doesn't crash when playing farmville hehe laugh.gif
Anyways, I guess an ultrabook would be more than enough for your aunt... and the snappy performance provided by the mSATA SSD will also be a plus too~
14"
Dell
[Ultrabook]Inspiron 14z, i3-3217U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2099[1.87kg], 4GB, W7HB/W8, *no VGA port, OD
[Ultrabook]Inspiron 14z, i5-3317U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2449[1.87kg], 4GB, W8 *no VGA port, OD

*Both are enough for her usage.
*Use remaining money to extend warranty to 3 years on-site, very useful should anything happen to the notebook (touchwood!).. your aunt just have to give Dell a call and Dell will dispatch technicians to her place and fix the notebook on-the-spot icon_rolleyes.gif

And kon00, Dell is not known for being "colourful" sweat.gif I think the best you can do is get a red colour for the 14z sweat.gif

the difference in the 4 Nvidia is the graphics card fitted in each of the 4 laptops. the higher numbers of the Nvidia show better performance performed by the graphics card (the highest of all the 4, GT650M).

OD stands for optical drive, which could be a DVD drive or blu-ray drive.

Ultrabook at your budget is "difficult" sweat.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Depends on how extensively you use Adobe Illustrator, laptops with Intel HD 4000 IGPU may be fine, or you may need some discrete GPU (Nvidia / AMD).

Some conventional laptop for your consideration:
Dell 14"
Inspiron 14, i3-3110M + Intel HD4000@RM1399[2.1kg], 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8

HP 14"
Pavilion G4-2110TU, i3-3110M + Intel HD4000@RM1599, 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HP

Lenovo 14"
G480, i3-3110M + Nvidia GT635M@RM1499, 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS
G480, i5-3210M + Intel HD4000@RM1499, 2GB, 500GB (5400rpm), FreeDOS

Some ultrabook that is near your budget for your consideration:
Acer 13"
Aspire S3-391-33214G52s, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000 + 20GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM1999, 4GB, W8

Asus 14"
K46CM-WX060V, B987 + Nvidia GT630M@RM1799[2kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8, OD
K46CM-WX059V, i3-3217U + Nvidia GT635M@RM1899[2kg], 2GB, 500GB, 4-cell battery, W7HP, OD

Dell 14"
Inspiron 14z, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000@RM1799[1.87kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8, *no VGA port, OD

Lenovo 14"
S400, i3-2365M + AMD HD7450M@RM1699[1.8kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB (this use the older 2nd gen iCore CPU)

Price is RSP, negotiable (a little bit for budget line).

Hi guys, would appreciate your recommendation(s) for a laptop ...

1. Preferred Brand: Any (except Acer) but preferably decent after sales service, no heat issues and easy on the eyes.
3. Usage: MS Office for work/biz, surfing (googling for research) and Photoshop (frequent but probably not heavy usage)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14-15"

Would be grateful if someone can recommend a reliable shop in JB, say in City Square or nearby.

Thanks!

Can consider these:
14"
Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2049[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W7HP/W8

Lenovo Z480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm) W7HB, colors: grey/red/blue

15"
Dell Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + AMD HD7730M@RM2199, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional, W7HP/W8

Lenovo Ideapad Z580, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W7HB, white

Regardless of which one you choose, extend the warranty to 3 years for peace of mind icon_rolleyes.gif
