1. Preferred Brand: asus
2. Budget : around 2000- 2200 or cheaper
3. Usage : programing( IT student ), some gaming like fifa, dota...
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 or 15.6 also ok

I have look through two model k46cm and a45vs. I love the design of k46cm slim. but i like the CPU and GPU of a45vs.. can anyone tell me that k46cm battery can last how many hour? Although its use ULV processor but seen that only 4cell batery. And the a45vs i hear that u all say the GPU is 645m but y i c at online shop is 640m? Which should i buy? Thanks..

Pretty much these:
14"
A45VS-VX026H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT645M@RM2199[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8
K46CM-WX090H, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M@RM2199[2kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8, OD
15"
S56CM-XX090H i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB@RM2199[2.3kg], 2GB, W8; color: black

K46CM battery hour depends on usage. If the GPU don't kick in, you could look at more than 3 hours (watch DVD etc). If you game on battery power, 1 hour if you are lucky smile.gif

I understand that the A45 with 645M is the latest spec. The online shop that you check may be selling old stocks.

Which one is more important? Gaming - A45, Mobility - K46 (only by 400g though smile.gif )

well then it boils down to weight and design then... obviously A45VS will run games better due to the better graphic card... so ask urself which is more important to u: enjoy games at better detail, or a more handsome looking and lighter laptop?

Utter nonsense. Do you realise the i5 ULV is more expensive than the i5 M processor (one of the reason why ultrabook is more expensive than normal laptop). More expensive not because it run faster, but because it could be run at much lower voltage, and not all the chips coming off oven can pull it off.
3210M is running at 35W at 2.5GHz normal. When Turbo kick in (CPU under load), it go up to 3.1GHz.
3317U on the other hand, is running at 17W at 1.7GHz normal. When Turbo kick in, it go up to 2.6GHz.
So if you looking at top speed, 3210M win. But 3317U is running off 50% the power requirement (not so directly translated to real world performance since CPU only represent part of laptop total power consumption)
More over, 3317U can go down to 14W when idle.

I will take the best 2nd gen i3, i3-2370M as comparison. It run at 35W at 2.4GHz, and no Turbo available.

And the IGPU HD4000 in i5-3317U is so much better than the HD 3000 in i3-2370M.

Yes, BF3 at HD resolution is playable in K46CM. But being skinny, it don't dissipate heat that well, you better get good external cooling solution to prolong the life of laptop smile.gif

So, in terms of ranking:
1-lenova y500
2-sager np9130 (import could be a problem)
3-lenova y580, Asus g55, msi ge60

What about Dell m14x?

Sorry, forgotten to quote.

1. Preferred Brand: Anything except cap ayam
2. Budget: 1.5k - 2.5k
3. Usage: Watch movie, movie browsing, nothing processor or gpu intensive
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 12-13 inch

I dont know if this price can get thin and light, as long as not too bulky.
she say she prefer Windows 8. So if you can, do not down which come preloaded with windows 8, which in win 7.
2.5k got touch screen ah (for windows 8)? LOL. just asking.

Hi guys im contemplating between this 3 models below :

1) Dell XPS 13 (i5 processor)
2) HP Envy 4 (i5 processor)
3) Asus Zenbook UX31E (i5 processor)

Main concern among the 3 is the graphic performance. I know battery life is more or less the same.

I am very concern about weight and battery life. Using it mostly for business use. Also abit of graphic performance will be good. No gaming at all. Only youtube full HD and also some video.

I supposed you are talking about the above 3 models? (there is no UX31E in Msia).

Weight - XPS and Zen win.
GPU - Envy 4 has discrete GPU. However, when it kick in, battery will drain faster.
All 3 models can handle Youtube FHD and videos.
Zen has the best screen (IPS panel) and resolution (FHD).
XPS & Zen will boot faster and run apps snappier due to the SSD.
Dell has best warranty support. For business use, you may want to consider to extend the warranty to 3 years. Dell offer NBD onsite service. (You call, next business day, technician at your door, fix problem on the spot. Don't need to send to service centre). Peace of mind for business people.

If you really like HP, you should consider this instead:
Envy SpectreXT 13-2018TU, i7-3517U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399[1.39kg], 4GB, W8, 4 cell 45WHR, no ODD, backlit keyboard

Hi.

I'm planning to get a ultrabook between xps 13 or toshiba portege Z930-2002. Any advise on which model better? The price I got in pc fair today in Penang for toshiba is rm 3300? Is it cheap ? I'm going to use this laptop for long hours like 7-8 hours, for office work, programming software like visual studio, and some light graphics. Mostly would be heavy surfing and doing microsoft office. If you all can recommend different model would be good also. Thanks alot.

The Lenovo Z480, 14R SE and the Asus A45VS are the 3 top picks for your budget, especially if you are into gaming nod.gif
Whether a notebook lasts or not depends very much on how you take care of the notebook. Warranty support is also pretty important when something bad happens (touchwood) tongue.gif

1. All the models above runs on an i7 processor (assuming the N56 is the i7 variant) with a powerful dGP, and are all 15.6" in size... battery life will be around 3-3.5 hours max I supposed.

2. Asus has the worse warranty support. MSI and Lenovo's warranty support should be better.

3. CPU-wise all perform similarly. GPU (gaming)- wise; Y500 (SLI) > Y580 = GE60 = G55 > N56. As for the heat, need to read reviews for more specific details, but in short the Y500 and G55 were reported to have pretty good cooling
