QUOTE(helload @ Nov 27 2012, 10:47 PM) Hi, thanks for your recommendation, have you had any experience using Asus laptops? as I heard some say not recommended to get? Yeah, I have recommended and purchased an Asus N43SL for my sister, a Asus TF Prime (TF201) for my parents, and an Asus Infinity Pad for my friend. Asus products are generally reliable, with fair pricing and good, innovative designs. In short, Asus knows what the consumers are looking for Also, I think the Dell Inspiron 14R is priced at RM2670, instead of RM2049 mentioned? or could you kindly lead me to the link of the 1 that can sell at RM2049 please? if you don't mind.. thanks in advance! Still, because of the poor after sales service, you could only buy and pray that nothing happens to your Asus device. here's the link to the RM2049 Dell Inspiron 14R SE: http://www.dell.com/my/p/inspiron-14r-se-7420/fs |

Best maybe in terms of Price / CPU&GPU performance ratio.the price is affordable rm3488 n u can feel like this laptop the best in earth so far --------- i7 3630qm 2.4ghz up to 16gb ram ddr3 gt650m sli 2gb gddr5 ----------- 15 inch and very sturd look, slim, and also lighter But not the "best in earth" lah I like Y500, and my hand is getting itchy Single GPU GTX670MX is still better. SLI micro-stutter. No customised keyboard backlit. No matte screen. Speakers are good, but bass is still weak. This post has been edited by nexus2238: Nov 28 2012, 11:22 AM |

Preferred laptop/screen size: 15 inch. 14 is ok. 15 is better. Must have anti-glare display. |

Well, ultrabooks are designed with portability and long battery life in mind. So they do not excel that much when it comes to intensive tasks like gaming and also rendering. They are stable, just that they are not as powerful as normal, heavier notebooks thx for the link and inputs also, a step closer to choosing a new laptop still torn about the ultrabooks tho, since the slim body and light weight makes me drool, easy to carry around.. also, if you don't mind, can enlighten me on why ultrabooks aren't stable? as the specs is quite close to the normal notebooks you reccomended? again, thanks in advance! QUOTE(fat16 @ Nov 28 2012, 02:22 PM) Hi sifu, ProBook is the entry level business class laptop by HP. Higher level is Elitebook.I check garage sale have a few new HP ProBook and Lenovo ThinkPad with warranty. Between HP ProBook and Lenovo ThinkPad which one have better built & last longer ? ThinkPad have nice red TrackPoint. About warranty, must have receipt or just check serial number only ? 1. Preferred Brand: HP ProBook or Lenovo ThinkPad 2. Budget: RM 1700 or less 3. Usage: no gaming. normal use. 4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15 inch. 14 is ok. 15 is better. Must have anti-glare display. Just for reference, Vostro is the entry level business class laptop by Dell. Higher level is Latitude & Precision. For Lenovo, however, all business class laptop is under Thinkpad. The tricky part is that under Thinkpad there are a few series: T series / W series - comparable to Elitebook, Latitude, Precision. Edge series / SL series (I think SL is being phased out) - more for SMEs, comparable to Probook, Vostro. T & W series has more solid build than Probook, Edge is about Probook level. Yes, all Thinkpad (whichever series) has the Trackpoint. Whereas for HP & Dell, only Elitebook, Latitude, Precision has the same thing (in other colour though, e.g. blue). All Lenovo, HP, Dell business class laptops are in matte screen (thank god For Lenovo Thinkpad, the standard type of warranty is on-site. Personally has not been asked to show receipt when asked for warranty support. Can't comment for HP Probook since I never own 1 before. Anyone else can help? Sorry, brand new is out of your budget. The cheapest: Lenovo 14" ThinkPad Edge E430, i5-2520M + Intel HD3000@RM2699[2.2kg], W7P, 4GB, 500GB (5400rpm), anti-glare ThinkPad Edge E430, i5-3210M + Intel HD4000@RM2749[2.2kg], W7P, 4GB, 750GB (5400rpm), anti-glare HP 14" ProBook 4430s, i3-2370M + Intel HD3000@RM2399, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7P, anti-glare ProBook 4440s, i5-3210M + Intel HD4000@RM2599, 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W7P, anti-glare ProBook 4341s, i5-3210M + AMD HD7570M@RM2699, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7P, anti-glare You may have to look for 2nd hand or refurbished unit if you can't up your budget. I saw some seller in LYN garage sales threads selling refurbished Dell Vostro (with full Dell warranty) at < RM2k. Check it out This post has been edited by nexus2238: Nov 28 2012, 03:01 PM |

And based on user reviews (http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2491914), the cooling system of the device seemed pretty decent as well It is not exactly a fair comparison since the G55 has been around for quite some time now haha~ I guess it is all down to personal preference now, both are good notebooks |
