You're saying there's no additional changes done in speaker? Hmm i see, yeah i am waiting for y500 review, but it seems that msia version comes with 500gb and 4g ram only? :\
I am afraid that if i wait too long that the 1tb n 8g ram version will be sold out..

What do you guys think? will it out of stock before the y500 with my desired spec which is 8g ram n 1tb version coming out to msia?

ohh dilemma, i hate it  dry.gif  whistling.gif

i think u can oway upgrade the 1tb hdd and 16gb ram on your own~
will u be able to get the machine?
thatx d most important factor currently~

I've decided on the GT60 gtx680m or gt70 gtx675mx.
I wanna ask does any shop in lowyat or malaysia have these in ready stock? If not, why? I realized most shops are like this, having have to order first.
I prefer just showing up and giving them the full sum of money in person, it's much more easier than waiting a week. Not a rant biggrin.gif just asking ^^

haha geez, you're making me impatient.
if i upgrade it by my own, whats the recommended brand for both hdd n ram manufacturer?

i love y580 as it is good enough for gaming, but the down part is heating problem :\
i love y500 coz nobody can say "this is enough for me", but the down part is the battery life.

in your honest opinion which one should i get?

Hi. Was here a few weeks back but still cant decide on windows 7 or 8. Hahaha. My main concern now is the software compatibilities. Are most softwares supported in windows 8? And are there are any major issues since its new? I will be studying overseas next year and i dont want it to crash or have any major issues.... Can any users share their experience? Thanks. biggrin.gif

Niche product. High price. If you were a reseller, would you want to stock it? (If you know anything about inventory management smile.gif )
What is one week, consider the years (hopefully) that you are going to spend with the machine? (am I sounding corny? laugh.gif )

First, let's list down the laptop you can afford for gaming:

Asus
15.6"
A55VJ-SX093H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT635M@RM2499[2.52kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8; color: black
[Ultrabook] S56CM-XX090H i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB@RM2199[2.3kg], 2GB, W8; color: black
N56VZ-S3151H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799[2.7kg][B&O], 4GB, 750GB, W8; color: black

Lenovo
15.6"
Ideapad Z580, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W7HB, white
Ideapad Z580, i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2499, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), freeDOS, white
Ideapad Z580, i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2699, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB, white
Ideapad Y580, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GTX660M + 1920x1080 @RM2999[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB/W8, backlit keyboard, 2 yrs warranty

Best for gaming is the Y580 due to the GPU.
In absolute term, none here has a "good" built in cooling system laugh.gif The question you have to ask: is the laptop cooling system good enough to cool the hardware it carry?
S56 being an ultrabook, not ideal.
A55, Z580 (the i5 spec), N56 (the i5 spec, not the more expensive i7 spec) has enough to cool the laptop under normal use.
Y580, you need a cooling pad or other external cooling solution.

But I will suggest you do NOT put anyone of these on your lap when you game laugh.gif

In my opinion, the only 15.5" laptop with good built in cooling system is:
Asus
G55VW-S1216H, i7-3610QM +Nvidia GTX660M (2GB) + (1920x1080)@3999[3.78kg], 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8
To notch fan, layout, air inlet / outlet, heatsink.

SWAT4, Battlefied 1 and 2 are not very graphic demanding since they are old games laugh.gif
Perhaps you can consider these instead:
14"
Asus A45VS-VX026H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2199[2.4kg], 2GB, 1TB, W8
Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2049[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W7HP/W8
Lenovo Z480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm) W7HB, colors: grey/red/blue

*use remaining money for warranty extension (particularly for Dell).
Although the GPU in the notebooks above are not as great as the one in the Y480, but you do have remaining budget for warranty upgrades, and at the same time not compromising on gaming performance for the games you'd mentioned laugh.gif

If you are looking for a light-weight notebook capable of gaming, then the Asus K46 would be a good choice, featuring a pretty decent GPU nod.gif

Thank you for highlighting this. Mostly using Microsoft Office and Photoshop. So I don't need GPU only good RAM and CPU. Any suggestion?

Having a dedicated GPU will also help smoothen later versions of Photoshop~
Try to go for these two if possible:
14"
Asus A45VS-VX026H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2199[2.4kg], 2GB, 1TB, W8
Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2049[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W7HP/W8

Otherwise, get these:
14"
Dell Inspiron 14R, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M@RM1899[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HP/W8
Lenovo G480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT635M@RM1899, 4GB, 1TB (5400rpm), W8, 2 yrs warranty

*Try to extend warranty to 3 years if possible too~
