Hi guys.. I'm looking forward to get my first android phone.. Samsung Galay S III seems to be a tempting choice..

I have a few questions, I hope you don't mind to help me answer them smile.gif

1. I heard SIII I9305 is out in singapore, is the 2GB ram worth it to go over there and buy?

2. Any chance I9305 will be released in Malaysia? I heard because it's LTE then it will only be out once LTE is established in Malaysia?

3. Samsung warranty is international or must be in the same shop/country?

Thank you in advance, now really eager to buy but still confused whether choose I9305 or I9300 >.<

1. Depends on the user. If you are a heavy user, then an extra GB of RAM helps, if not... how far are you grom SG?

2. NO

3. same country

I think onavo only monitor data usage, for wifi usage I used data counter widget.

Currently, what SIII phone do you use? Do you feel the RAM is insufficient in any way? I usually install lots of apps, but I guess RAM is only play a part when multitasking?

I live in Nilai, very close to airport, but surely my wallet will take damage laugh.gif so I need to make sure it's worth the trouble & money tongue.gif

can you explain more what is SME set and AP set? sorry that I don't know ><
(edit: did some googling and found this http://pride4us.com/iqmal/ap-set-or-original/ Is original set = sme set?)

by the way.. if only same country warranty now i'm a bit hesitant to go to SG. Do Galaxy S III owners usually get problems that require them to claim warranty? or this case is very rare?

SME = Samsung Malaysia electronics, which means that warranty by sme = warranty by Samsung. In another word means its original

Ap = approval products, if not mistsken la. Means those big big distributors brought in the devices, not Samsung, so warranty by those distributors instead of sme aka Samsung.

This is what I understand, So I don't think Ur sme nor Ap set can claim in sg.

Correct me if I'm wrong

Warranty. SME means it's under Samsung's warranty.

And not so sure bout AP ... but I think AP is under dealer's warranty I guess.

Whereas most AP are often considered as recon set..

I'm using i9300 smile.gif .. RAM? It's quite alright for me, It's a phone (lol) tongue.gif

why not u test both and decide for yourself? we do not have the other version so we can't conclude for you unless there's somebody over here that have 2 sets. but i highly doubt 2gb will make a difference as the processor is still the same.

and if you're a risk taker then go sg buy.. or not if u wanna avoid problem just buy sme sets.. easy as that.. all phones sure got risk of it spoiling one.. so who knows? if u read this forum u can see.. many people are happy with their sets but there are some who encounter problems also even some 1 day of use.. pls read and make the conclusion yourself. don't nanti u buy d we all kena blame.

1gb ram is okay. even when got 4, 5 apps running in the background still no lag. one thing is, you need to be a bit hardworking in killing apps and free-ing ram whenever possible. tongue.gif i'm used to this since i got tab 8.9 running on Honeycomb. Lags damn lot when having 3,4 apps running. sweat.gif

Honestly, the s3 will be a more formidable machine if it had 2gb ram. Sometimes, there is a lag when switching over from phone call to home screen. I think the darn touch wiz is the cause. Changed my launcher to nova prime and performance has improved by leaps

I don't recommend constantly killing apps as the regular switching on and off is a real battery drain, as I later found out. Let android manage the memory. If memory resource is low, There is may a slight lag when android closes an older idle app for a newly opened one but once done, it's smooth.
Android's philosophy with regards to memory is that un-used memory is wasted resource which is why it does active management on its own

but drink batt juice more than TW does. batt dropped 1% after 8-9 hours idling when using TW but after i started using nova, drops 2-3% for same period. i did kill TW ady when switching to nova that day. unsure.gif

but still tolerable. laugh.gif

Hmm, didn't notice the extra battery juice on nova. Maybe you had more widgets on nova than tw? As you say, an extra 2-3% of juice is tolerable for a significantly smoother and vibrant launcher

nope. even much lesser than when i was on TW. i customized my phone to have 4 pages with twicca, gmail and calendar widgets. but when i switched to nova i only have twicca widget with the same amount of folders and shortcuts as when i was on TW.
